    Example of a postbit.
    Spoiler:

I had an idea! We already have a few things that appear in our postbit, but theres something missing!

Time zones! I think it would be a good idea to add the option of displaying your timezone on your postbite!

    What do you think?

Location seems to be more than enough for me to figure out what the person's timezone is, but I don't mind looking at a "simplified" timezone postbit thingy where you can check to see what timezone the person is residing in. Could be a "toggable" feature to add. It'll be easier for those who have trouble figuring out.

You can tell by the location, but some people don't want to put a specific city or town

The timezone wouldn't be specific. There are only 24 time zones.

Yeah, I agree with ya! I tend to change my location all the time, so this could facilitate events, communication and all that (as gimmiepie mentioned)!

    edit: mockup

[PokeCommunity.com] Add "Time Zone" in postbit.

You know, I'm definitely happy for this because not everyone tends to list their exact location so to have a timezone feature in the postbit can really help, especially for certain events where we need to consider someone's timezone because sometimes when we had tournaments on the battle server where we had matchups between members who somehow couldn't get online at the same time as each other due to timezone issues.

It'll be a huge benefit to those who participate in such events.

It probably doesn't need to be immediately visible in the postbit, but we could put it in the username popup next to previous usernames etc.

The only issue is that I can imagine people complaining about privacy. :( I guess we could just have a on/off switch.

It would be just like: online status, age and location! You can switch it off at any time!

Maine and Florida are in the same time zone. If you told me you were in the Eastern Time Zone that doesn't exactly reveal your location very well...

You're right in that sense, but keep in mind there are some very small and/or very exclusive time zones such as the Newfoundland Time Zone, which is the only spot in the whole world that is UTC-3:30 (or UTC-2:30 with DST in effect).

This is an excellent idea! I'm all for this, where do I throw my money to make this happen? For people worried about privacy, just have this as a tab in which people need to hand write what their timezone is - similar to how you have to write in your Location. That way people can control whether or not their timezone is made public.

That is right however, like i said before...

I think the better way is to just pull the existing data. All of us already have our timezone data set in order to have the correct post times listed. We just pull that info, but create a switch to turn it on/off for people who don't want the info displayed.

That sounds super! Where would it be displayed?

That works! Reason why I suggested what I did was I figured that would be easier to code in. Either way works, I'd rather just want the solution to be whatever is less tedious for you coders out there to do.

is there a way to make it show the member's local time instead of timezone? timezone names are inconsistent throughout the world so it still won't mean anything to a lot of people.

    sweet, thanks dude. 8)

This is something I would be in favor of, as some people might want to know how far ahead of them in specific time zones others are. I'm one of those people, as I chit-chat with a couple people who are in the dark while it's daytime here in PA.

I like this idea as well, as mentioned before not every one puts in their real location and the option to turn it on and off would be good, but also was mentioned, if I'm in the CMT no one will know that I live in Kansas (I don't, just saying), but it is an excellent idea.

EDIT: I don't know if it would be helpful in all sections, but in the trade forum I know it would be, I find myself asking alot of traders "What time zone you in" when setting up a trade, so maybe like it was done with the fc's and IGN's in that section would be very helpful.
