Apple discontinues the iPod Nano/Shuffle

I had an iPod Nano that I used to listen to in car rides to and from school, but it died out a couple of years ago. No surprise Apple has gotten rid of these products, considering that the iPhone is all those features and more.

I still remember my aunt keeps her ipod mini, since people can watch video at higher resolution with iPad or iPhone, iPod was outclassed by them and apple only gives some color to it instead actually updating it

Aw, I'm reminded of my first Nano. I think it was the fifth generation, I got it as a gift from my uncle. Surprisingly it was relevant still about a year ago. I gave it to my gf because her iPod Shuffle broke to smithereens. I think it died permanently a few months ago. I'm not really all that surprised they got killed off, considering the Touch is leaps and bounds ahead, while still being rather cheap (well, maybe the Shuffle was a bargain at $50, but that was seriously outdated).

We lay you down to rest, noble pioneers of portable music. Thank you for powering early 2010s treadmill runs across the world. Godspeed.

I thought these got discontinued like six years ago since then is when I stopped seeing them in stores.

I still have mine. I use it constantly. It makes me wonder if this means that they won't replace them if something happens to it though... I hope they will still do that. I guess I'm lucky because mine was replaced with a brand new one, which they don't normally do That's only because my mom had to go and brag about my special needs... *sigh*. I usually keep mine well maintained to be honest... and it's held up really well.

Also, maybe they weren't selling as well. That could be why they discontinued them. tbh I never understood the iPod Shuffle. I mean, I wanted something where I could see what was playing but didn't have the same features my phone has. So, that's why I got a nano. Sadly, that's not the case with others.

I had an iPod Shuffle which I used back when I was in middle school to listen to music because my phone was not that great and it had very little storage space.
This move from Apple does not surprise me at all at this time though, since smartphones can do that just fine so there's no point in buying one of these anymore.

I still have three different iPod Nanos, including the clip on one that I use to play music outside on. Would have to buy new speakers if I wanted to do that with a newer model.

I used to have a blue iPod nano, the kind that could take video. I had it when I got home from a graduation when I was in seventh grade, put it on the table before I went to bed and the next day it was gone.

It's been seven years and I still haven't found it.

I started using a silver iPod nano that was older. Still have that one. It's kind of interesting seeing how it no longer is being produced. Makes me feel a little old.

I have my music both on there and on my iPad, but I like the iPod better because I can just keep it in my shirt pocket and not have to worry about carrying my whole backpack (where I keep the iPad) with me at all times, or worry about the cord of the earbuds getting pulled.

I used to own an iPod shuffle way back in secondary school, before I owned a smartphone. I used it often for listening to music during my commute to school.

I'm not surprised to see the iPod line being removed - I actually think it's a bit late into doing so when most young people own smartphones which have basically become all-in-one device for music and video. No point in having separate devices now.

Technically though the iPod line will still be around, just only with the iPod Touch and that's it.

I had an iPod Nano from 2009 that I used everyday up until June when I finally moved to Spotify. I liked it because it did its job - it was small, held a lot of music, and was no frills which was what I wanted. I do think something cheaper than an iPod Touch would be nice to have but with how exposed kids are to iPhones now I doubt a cheap iPod would be popular with that market haha.

I used to have an ipod. Now I just use my phone for tunes.
Ipods were good back ages when.

So this doesn't surprise me, some are going off the market.
All about fresh ideas and competition with other multi media giant's I think.
