April 2025 Archipelago (In progress)

Searched around Discord. Did not have your specific error. Came up with two possibilities.
1. May not have been on your end. Generated a Metroid Prime game before, most likely on an older APWorld. Potentially caused issues. Deleted a temporary folder before generating the game this time. Hopefully fixes it without you having to do anything new.

2. Have you tried to get Metroid Prime to run on Archipelago before? Could be a result of having "dolphin_memory_engine", "ppc_asm", or "py_randomprime" in your "lib" folder. Try patching the game if you had one of these in there.

In the event of things still not working, go to:
C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Local\Temp

Look for an "ap_metroidprime_temp" folder and delete it (if it is even there). Then try patching again.

Thanks for checking the Discord for me. I'd like to avoid going on there personally unless I absolutely have to, so I appreciate it.
And no, this is my first time trying Prime, first time installing Dolphin, first for all of that. Downloads are brand new as of like 2 or so days ago. So I hope whatever problem there was was on your end or... @.@

Edit: And I'll give the second test a try-out later tonight and check in with how it goes.
 
Hm. Generated a game. Saw this go by during generation:
"Triggered Suboption "early_key_item" of "spawn" did not overwrite a root option. This is probably in error."

Still generated the seed. Glanced at the spoiler log. Spawned in Brittle Hollow with Translator as an early key item. Spots a Translator at Old Settlement Murals in Brittle Hollow. Probably worked fine? Brings it up just in case. (Made another test server down below, if you want to walk around.)
It's just a warning, since the main YAML doesn't have the early key item field defined (but all possibilities are accounted for, so no issue there).
I had generated over 20 different games to ensure it worked before I provided the updated YAML.

And yeah the Brittle Hollow Translator would be somewhere in Sphere 1 for the Brittle Hollow planet (where I spawned) thanks to the setting.


EDIT: Morning testing went well, loving the forced change in playstyle by having to scramble from air pocket to air pocket (without upgrades, I only start with about 4 minutes of oxygen) instead of just hopping in the ship and moving from landmark to landmark.

First of all sorry I'm late. I passed out right after I finished what I was doing before I could get around to testing things again last night.

Okay, so I tried downloading the file you sent directly, and it for some reason was the old Archipelago game. (tested with M&L) so I grabbed it off the site directly and that was the new one (it linked to the correct multiworld server at least). I say that because, with the Metroid file, when I try to get it loaded, it just straight up doesn't go through the whole setup process where I connect it to my emulator and just jumps straight into the error. I have no idea why and it seems like whatever went wrong the first time Archipelago just doesn't want me to correct or give me the chance to for whatever reason and it's really beginning to get annoying... >.> (will refrain from going off, but now I'm even more confused than before and have even less of an idea on how to fix it, do I need to just wipe the whole damn thing from scratch just to get one [censored] game working? like what th-)
ANYWAY... At the very least, it's really nice that when I double-click all the rest of my AP games that it auto-pulls up and sets the connector file stuff now, though. It even made connecting M&L less annoying. So that's cool.

Edit: Also, unrelated, here's my Emerald file again with the name/s updated. I don't need it to be marked as 'test' anymore due to it working fine:

@Alex_Among_Foxes Will try one more thing before asking in the Discord. Delete the old Metroid Prime patches. Delete the Metroid Prime APWorld too. Redownload the APWorld here. Did the same and grabbed the 3.12 one. Transferred your YAML to a new one generated on Archipelago 0.6.1, in case of the old YAML causing issues somehow. (Created the one you get along with the APWorld in 0.5.0. Should not matter, but who knows?)

Created a test server with just Metroid Prime.

Is the second file necessary for it to work? I've been avoiding it since is says spoiler at the end and I assumed it to be the spoiler log. It was in fact just the spoiler log lol.
Edit: also it did the same as before. It won't let me link up to my Dolphin emulator ISO file, it just jumps straight to the error on the AP (the page where it tells you what items you get I don't know the dang name of it) window.

*DEEP sigh* Okay. Thanks to a massive amount of help from Deva and a load of troubleshooting on my end as well, I've finally got Prime in a state that '''should''' work for the multiworld... >.>
I've modified the file a bit with a removal of the random start setting cause I'm too rusty at the game to play with that on at the moment, but none of the rest of the settings were changed (and thanks a ton again for the help @Devalue, I literally never would've gotten it done it without you):

I plan on bringing a Starcraft 2, a Link to the Past, a Terraria, an A Hat in Time, and an ArchipIDLE. (This last game is basically an April Fools game with lots of funny item names.)

I will submit YAMLs tomorrow, once I've finished Ganon's Tower and beaten Link to the Past so I know what YAML settings to pick. I plan on bringing a Starcraft 2, a Link to the Past, a Terraria, an A Hat in Time, and an ArchipIDLE. (This last game is basically an April Fools game with lots of funny item names.)
Note on Terraria: Experiences issues when paired with unsupported games. Attached three things:
  • A new Terraria APWorld (version 1.4.4). Replace the APWorld in lib/worlds with this one. Presumably only needs this as the host, however.
  • The updated Terraria mod. Obtains this through Steam as well. Should not need it if you are using Steam and your Tmod Archipelago mod is up-to-date.
  • A new YAML. Contains a few new options related to the Calamity mod and a special (vanilla) world seed. Turned those off by default. Split up what achievements you want to add a little too. Offers to assist in filling it out, if you want. Is not a very long YAML, though.

Plans to bundle this with the Archipelago version 0.6.2. Takes time for stuff to be peer-reviewed, though. (Released this APWorld version on March 2. Was not the only game messed up by 0.6.1. Affected Dark Souls 3 as well.)

Don't bother, I'll pick something else. I'll submit my YAMLs later today once I finish the other half of Ganon's Tower and beat Link to the Past.
 
I'm done with LttP, and I'm confident enough in my ability to beat Ganon to choose a goal that requires that boss fight.

My full list of games are: A Link to the Past, A Hat in Time, Starcraft 2, A Short Hike, and ArchipIDLE. Everything except SC2 is either new to me or has new settings, and will require a test server.

@Cherrim Apparently had more bounties than bosses. Automatically set it to 7 total bounties. (Looks like 5 required still.) Mentions this just in case.

Attached all the patches in one .zip file (except for Cherrim's patch, which was already in one). Added the spoiler log too.

Edit: Released all of Stardew Valley's items. Ought to suffice for testing receiving items.

I'm done with LttP, and I'm confident enough in my ability to beat Ganon to choose a goal that requires that boss fight.

As someone who's ran it (ALttP) multiple times for these, it's a pretty easy setup once you know how. I also recommend not messing with the world colors in the multiworld settings list, the one time I did that made the game look ghastly lol.
 
Sorry @Devalue , here's another updated YAML.

The new YAML worked perfectly, the Translator was guaranteed early. It's just that the generator STILL managed to find a way to give me Launch codes like.... near instantly. (As in, basically the closest check to the Spawn point.)
So now it's non-local, and I dropped down my progression balancing a tad (which is probably a good idea just because getting a translator opens a lot of checks, and I don't really feel like doing especially long sessions after work). Should hopefully make it go away for slightly longer than literally the first place I decided to look, and ideally out of sphere 1 altogether.

A Hat in Time and ArchipIDLE are working fine. I still need to debug an issue with A Short Hike and test LttP, but I've run out of time for both of these tonight.
 
I got the other two games working now. The only updates I have to make are username changes for a few games. I also have a Doom 2 here for my final slot since Archipidle has no gameplay in it and A Short Hike is very quick to BK.

Generated another test server. Could be the last one, barring any further YAML changes or someone else joining in the next hour. Requests everyone to connect to (preferably) this test server or the one just before this. Wants to make sure nothing weird happened with all the new games somehow. (Left Arcaneum out of the pings, having connected to the last one. Mainly only asks Vendily to confirm the settings are fine now.)

Begins the actual game once everyone has confirmed things to be good (and sign-ups close, of course).
