Are you a boy or a girl?

This is a simple question: Do you play the Pokemon games as a boy or as a girl? I saw some boys who like to play as girls because their designs are better, and vice versa.

If you play as the opposed gender, why do you do it?

I always play as the girl trainer as I am female myself, plus it helps they have more diverse designs compared to the boy trainers as well. X/Y's customization feature was also more kind to females in that regard.

Yeah, the guys really got screwed over when it came to clothes in X/Y. Not to mention the hair options, which the girls had three times more of.

Mostly boy all the time and I played as a girl once

It just depends on the game for me, really. In some games, I like the male design better and in others, I prefer the female. For example, I always play as a girl in Crystal since she was the first playable female and it's the only game you get to play as Kris specifically. However, in HGSS, I usually play as Ethan because I'm not a huge fan of Lyra's design. And then there's RSE and ORAS where I usually alternate because I really like both the protagonists!

I always play as the girl unless I'm playing hgss. I think Lyra's hair is super annoying when you're walking with your Pokemon. I'd play as the male character if they were more interesting... they tend to have really bland designs. I mean most of them generally look the same.

Aside from my second playthrough of Sapphire, I've always played as the male protagonist, since I'm a guy. As it is, the only reason I played as the female on that run of Sapphire was because of the novelty of being able to face a rival that had the same name as me.

If character customization comes back in the future, then I may give some consideration to playing as the girl again, but 9 times out of 10 I'll probably still pick the male character.

I mostly play as the male protagonist, simply because I'm male myself. I've played one run in Sapphire as the female character for variety. I liked to see how the May and Brendan have different quotes.

I usually play through as the boy first. If I ever pick up the other copy or start the game over then I usually try it out as the girl character. I just like to switch things up sometimes :3

I usually play as the boy trainer as i'm male.I once played as the female protagonist in Pokemon X/Y because of its beautiful design haha.

I play as a girl because I am a girl and we all know girls are best! :)

I did once play as a boy in a run through of BW because the boy got different Pokemon from the in-game trades.

I feel like I've posted in here before. lol

Anyhow... in pretty much any game where I can choose a female I do so, with the rare exception that the male character is a better design. I just relate to females more and generally like their designs a LOT more... especially in X/Y, where I can customize her however I want to.

I always play as a girl in my main playthrough. Occasionally I'll play as a boy in my additional playthroughs, like challenge runs and ROMs.

Oh, and of course, I played as a boy in Red and Blue, because back then Professor Oak didn't bother to ask what gender you are :P

I almost always play as a girl. I do like the male designs in the first two generations, so for those games(+remakes) I will usually choose the boy. Depends how I'm feeling though.

That depends mostly on whose design I like better. If you're forced to see the character over the course of the whole game and even beyond, then why restrict yourself to only one choice? One thing, that I don't like is, that a lot of the male characters don't really differ that much across all generations. I think, Brendan and whatever that guy from BW2 was called, where the only exceptions.

So, if I only were to choose the male character, I'd most of the time, just run around with a Red/Ash clone, that only looks slightly different in most of the games, which is kinda boring, tbh.
