Bed Rituals

Before I go to sleep, I always push my mattress back up (it always gets messed up), fix my covers, prop my alarm clock up on a pillow cuz my nightstand is to short, then I turn my phone off, put it on my nightstand, go make sure the doors locked, then go to sleep.

My bed rituals are not complicated, surprisingly. I just turn on a video on a low volume and sleep to that. Sometimes I turn on my fan for extra noise, but not if it's already cold in my room. I just need to hear something while trying to sleep, because when it's too quiet, it gives my mind more room to overthink everything and really keep me from sleeping.

I walk into my bedroom, undress, turn off the lights, get into bed and close my eyes. Simple, really.

If anything, I try and limit the amount of time I spend in my bedroom as it seems to have some sort of effect on my ability to get to sleep easier. The less time I spend there doing non-sleep related activities, the more likely I'm able to get to sleep quicker.

Just wondering, has anyone actually attempted counting sheep or anything like that to fall asleep? I have seen this on TV shows all the time, especially as a kid and I was wondering if anyone else has tired this and had success? I know I personally have tried it and it actually keeps me up longer I think.

I'll post around PC and hang out at the battle server for a few hours before I go to bed or I might watch a little bit of TV to make me tired. Once I actually get in the bed, I'll just think of happy thoughts until I fall asleep which usually takes me about an hour.
I do exactly this! I try to sleep then give up, post on PC little, talk on the server/battle for a bit, then watch some TV until I'm tired enough for sleeping. I usually end up thinking about one thing or another but I wouldn't say it's always happy haha - it's some of the only time alone that I get so I usually use it to reflect on what's been happening recently. I do wish I was able to just fall asleep though :p

Typically, I set a music recording playing with the lights off and the fan running while I sleep. When those 90 minutes of piano songs are done, the other side will be played. It is because that the sound of nothingness is...pretty tiring to hear. So that's why I play music while sleeping. It actually makes me think of wild dreams depending on the song it's playing, rarely.

I don't care if it's placebo, I think it works! I think it's like meditation that you're emptying your mind of all the busyness that would otherwise keep you up at night.

When I'm at home, I used to have the nastiest habit of tiring myself to bed using the Internet, which isn't all that reliable to begin with. I arrange my pillows in an L shape alongside a corner, and snuggle as deeply as I can into that corner. I hold my one stuffed animal - who has been my friend through many dangers - and pull the blanket over my head.

I legitimately thought that I was the only person who did this, but I'm not it seems! I become so comfortable when I do this and I sleep ten times better. It's just simply cozy =D

I set my 20 iPhone alarms, then proceed to write novels or listen to music before I fall asleep.

I grab my blankie, turn on my iPhone, and slap on my headphones.

Then dream about waffles.

I usually sleep around around 12:00 AM or 12:30 AM these days, mostly due to school starting next week and I have to get used to getting up earlier. I usually get my laptop at around 10:00 PM, and stay awake till the battery's almost dead.

I usually just talk with my sister about random things, assuming we didn't fight over who gets to use the computer first, of course. Then I'd check my phone for last-minute messages, say g'night to my mom and dad, and hug my teddy while letting my imagination run wild until I fall asleep.

During the Summer I would always go to bed around 1-2 AM and wake up around noon. Now my schedule has gone crazy from school starting.

I know for me personally, adjusting my sleep schedule for going back to school is the hardest part. It's hard to go from sleeping whenever to actually having to be asleep and up by certain hours.

I usually brush my teeth/wash my face/use the bathroom. Then I turn my fan on, light a candle or an incense, take off my clothes, shut off the lights, and either talk on the phone or check some things. Once I'm on the verge of falling asleep I blow the candle out and go to bed.

I say my prayers, then lay down in my bed set the alarm and turn on the ipod, listen to some tunes until I feel like I'm dozing off. I turn it off and fall asleep.

To be specific: Right before bed I drink a glass of milk, brush my teeth, check my [three] alarms to make sure they're all on, do a set of just twenty-five push ups, put on my ceiling fan, hop into bed and curl up under my comforter, switch off the lamp on my desk next to my bed, and then say a little prayer. It's a practice I've become accustomed to.

Sometimes if I'm really tired I'd fall asleep almost instantly, but in some cases I find myself just pondering random thoughts until I eventually go to sleep. On rare occasions I'll leave my music playing on my laptop or iPad quietly to help me go to sleep or push out any thoughts keeping me up.

Before turning off laptop (an hour before I get to bed) I'll look at YouTube while having a midnight snack (I should call it a nocturnal snack most of the time it will be around 3:00am when I'm having the snack) - laptop off!! Right before I lay in bed: set up my alarm if I need to, make sure fan is on, decide which Pokemon plush will sleep with me (this part is so important to me I can never miss it - otherwise Nightmares all night), find a comfy position in bed.... then I don't know what happens until the I wake up the next day.
