He didn't ask if you could make them less cluttered, he asked if there will be a way to turn them off. Honestly, the feature itself it great. Clicking on a category to see only what's in that, but I do not like the bright-colored prefixes to all the threads. It takes away from the title and I am too busy staring at these eye-burning colors rather than looking for the thread at hand. Sorry if I'm raining on your parade, I did say it's a great feature but if we could have the ability to either disable the feature overall or just the images ... thatdbegreat.jpg

I think the colors are pretty important for distinguishing the categories, but I agree that they could be more somber.

I like seeing the userbars as thread prefix but not so much at the top. It's neat that you can click them to filter posts but I think I'd prefer a drop down menu or something that you click rather than having them there all the time. Or a filter option in the splash. With a splash and the userbars it does feel a bit much, to my eyes anyways.

Would it be possible to have the section at the top made hideable for people who don't find the bar at the top as aesthetically pleasing? It doesn't really bother me much, but I know there's going to be people who find it rather bothersome.

Colours too bothersome? Differentiate without color — go to Edit Options and click the box under Accessibility.

Maybe it would be a good idea to make this the default behaviour, because unless you're on some fruity theme these little "bars" overwhelm the page. They're quite tacky.

Eh personally I find them a bit annoying, but only on mobile because they seem to get slightly oversized. I love that revamped filter options though

I loved it! This implemention leaved the forums more beautiful, and people can choose what categories they want to see!

I found one problem, In the ROM hacking section, if you click "Show more", there isn't a "Show less" button.

I'm personally not a fan of the decision to move the category indicator to its own column, but regardless, I feel like it should at the very least have a fluid width so that occurrences like this don't happen (there's a bunch of free space, yet for some reason the category is so cramped that it has to take up three lines).

Definitely an improvement! I still prefer it being to the left of the thread title, though. definitely not related to the fact that i renamed threads to use the prefix as part of the title (i.e. [Hack of the Year] Results 2014)

edit: it's also still to the left of the thread title in the preview on the index, so i think it makes more sense that way

The little tags on the stickies and whatnot (Such as showing that deleted posts exist and whatnot) look really awkward now:

I really like the coloured categories. It makes them stand out from the thread titles, but as mentioned, too much color is garish. Your mock-up looks great. I suppose it'd be up to each section's moderators to decide how they want their categories to look, but I for one would choose something more like what you made.

Agreed. It's easier to see which category a thread is in when the category is right next to the title and not way over on the other side of the screen.

Some of the colours in the ROM hacking forum are a bit... off. Here's what I mean.

While a lot of them look spot-on, the ones that strike me as particularly inaccurate (in comparison to official media and the colours used there) are the bars for Platinum and Pearl. The bar for Diamond could stand to be a bit lighter and less saturated (a noticeable bit lighter than Crystal), and with that Emerald should also be a bit darker and less vibrant. Also, maybe you guys could add some sparkle to the Hack of the Year bar, or something like that? Just a thought.

Also, it'd be really neat if y'all, at some point, made the Spin-off Games bar into a pastel-rainbow sort-of thing. By the way, unless you don't follow international English here, there's a typo in the "Differentiate without color" option in the User CP.
