Seriously though, people should check out this guys work. It's pretty good!

Uhhhh. I'm a girl? XD

Anyway, I actually redid that story. One of the reasons I don't like posting stories anywhere is because I hardly finish them due to my ADHD. :/ I really wish I could come up with the greatest story ever, but I haven't found any of my ideas as interesting. ><

I'm more of a proof reader. I glazed over that story and noticed a few things about structure and grammar that could be improved upon, but if you've already redid it, then there's no point proofreading that one imo.

Definitely wouldn't mind offering assistance in that regard. My mind gets off on that stuff.

What we need are more people willing to review. There's only two of us that review fics right now, and if I can just get that number to go up, I feel like FF&W would be a much better place.
I mean you've got a bunch of aspiring writers right here, we could totes help you out if need be [:

Oh...well then...this is a tad awkward...

Well, the thing is that I'm terrible at giving reviews. I just don't have the proper mindset to decide if something is good or not and why I feel that way. I guess you could say it's the way my brain is programmed or something. *shrug*

When it comes to grammar, I get too nervous to critique...largely because I'm not too confident in my own grasp of it. Well, a better way to put it is that I feel confident in my own ability, but not enough that I could assuredly critique someone else on theirs. Well, unless it's just blatantly in need of work :p

But as far as pacing, storytelling, character development, and the like go, I could definitely help out.

Slayr's section needs some love, imo. I'm good with reviewing, but I got a peak interest in writing and I'd be more than happy to kill this fear xD

I've yet to set foot into Slayr's section, haha (no hard feelings!). I'm bound to do it someday, though, as I've been planning to read some new fan-fics for a while.

You know that thing where I said I would read? Well I have a window open to it I swear... But all of a sudden I find myself writing a Mass Effect fanfic.

Whoops.
That's okay. I was meaning to write, and I did get a couple lines down, but then my friend starting talking about roller coasters and I was too caught up in the conversation to write anymore.

I might go in and take a look around that section. I'm a grammar nerd :X Languages are 100% my thing, so I know I could be hepful. As long as I don't get the OP coming back to me freaking out because they can't handle the fact/idea that their stuff could be improved. That's what really deterred me last time.

That's the same thing that's pushed me away from being a beta as well. I had a writer that needed a lot of improvement. I told them how to fix it and gave them exercises to practice, and then they went on a 'Phantom hate' spree, reported me to staff and went around onto other forums posting his sob story about how I am apparently a terrible beta for telling him how to fix his work instead of doing it for him.

Yeah, it's definitely not appreciated. I was younger at the time, and I'm definitely better now, but what I said back then still holds true lol and I'm not one to fix your work for you. I won't write your essay, but I'll definitely point out bigger issues and then narrow down examples. I don't care how many times you need to come back to me to get all the issues fixed yourself; I won't do it for you, and if you don't have the dedication and motivation to do it yourself, then maybe writing isn't for you.

It just makes me bitter lol I had a friend who was doing free tax returns, and a woman spat in her face because the government didn't supply the 0.90$ stamps to mail the returns in. She did it for free when it would have otherwise cost this lady 100-150$! That's how I feel when the people I critique (esp. when it's at their request) come back to me and freak.

I would love to get involved in the Writing section. I always click on it just to be jealous of the people who are writing.. My problem is that I feel like I don't have enlightened time to devote to writing the story I want to tell. Maybe if I get in there and offer some reviews I'll be able to get my foot in the door while improving my own creative writing ability so I may eventually find the time to jump into my own fiction.

Well, unless that person happens to be your boyfriend :p

Yeahhh :P but I only did it once, and it really improved my self-esteem and confidence for first year university. It was more for my benefit. The whole idea is for it to be beneficial to you in improving skills, etc. so doing it for anyone on any grounds isn't mutually beneficial, aside the "But I don't have to do it!" argument lol

And of the things I've done for him, I wrote one 2,000 essay (for my benefit) and proof-read a good ten things. He still came out with 90%+ so that essay landing a 94% wasn't suspicious.

Please do! :D

Finding the time and motivation to write is hard, I must admit. There have been times where I go a month without writing on my own time because of college or life. I recently just got out of a slump, so I'm back and ready to roll. Well, once college finals are done for, at least.
