Frankly, I agree with both of you. Especially after that first video. Ironically, they're both Monty Python videos. I was never formally familiar with the comedy group myself. I only heard of them from that minor tidbit I know. Weird.

Life is like a box of chocolates. Aaand, you know what comes after.
Therefore, Monty Python = box of chocolates. Both surprise you with what you get.

Cid, you know we're quoting the video right? xD

Not everyone is that familiar with them, but Monty Python is one of the boxes you check off to be a certified nerd, just like comic books, Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc. You don't need to check off every one of them, of course, just enough of them and then you get your badge and decoder ring.

This is why I suck at life. I know just enough about nerd culture to be considered too nerdy for ~cool~ people, but not enough to be considered nerdy enough for nerds. Like I know Monty Python but I don't like Star Wars and have never seen Star Trek or Doctor Who and don't read comic books. @-@;;

I'm not one of those either though! :( I'm just not nerdy enough all around.

The second one I didn't bother to watch after seeing the second top Youtube comment and hearing about how unexpected it is. I think I should watch it, though-- to improve/pick on my short attention span.

I'll be honest: I truly did not know you were both quoting the video. XD

And I don't think you have to force yourself to be accepted by these people with engaging in stuff you personally find hard to like, in my opinion. :3

It's because every time someone starts spouting the acronym as the source of it I have to correct them because knowledge is power

But yeah it's frustrating because these things go in groups. Like generally the person that likes most of the things I like will assume I like Star Wars and Doctor Who because they do and things like that, and it just gets awkward. ;_;

So did you enjoy the Easter Egg hunt? I didn't have much time to do it as I was busy during the Easter Period. I did submit some eggs however :)

I can kind of understand that. I'm nerdy and I like a lot of things, but I had to feign interest in a lot of things to get along with friends sometimes. Most of the nerdy things I know about are ones that I wanted to know more about so I could talk with people.

I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT DOCTOR WHO. It's just so daunting, knowing that it goes back decades and to be even slightly literate I would have to know a lot about it, just because there's so much to know...@-@

If it helps most people have only seen the episodes since the reboot. I haven't watched any classic episodes. Then again I wouldn't want to be classed as a nerd. :P

I can somehow relate. I, for one, am a fan of offline video games and a scarce amount of online ones. Most of the people I know around irl, however, are online gamers. I don't really blend in anywhere except with them sometimes, and I am closer to these people than the rest. However when the time for discussion comes, they just assume that you know all these things and start shifting conversations to and fro. And I find myself talking intermittently-- completely awkward.

I think I kind of described a similar situation, although I'm not good at feigning interest at all. But you make a great point.

@LightOfTruth: I did enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt. It was fun. I think the thread's still up actually. :D

@Toujours: I feel the same! Although I've probably never met anyone irl who'd talk about it with me, I have still read enough to be interested in it's unique premise. A blog around the internet that I usually read particularly praised the series, actually, and that got my attention.

I'm agreeing with Nuke. Most of the people I know will probably only talk about the new ones.

Find other kinds of nerds! There's more than just one kind of nerd! You fit more into the gamer subcategory, though, based on what I do know about your interests. That's if you do want to categorize your interests.

The Classic Who episodes are more pricey in DVD form anyway, and the fans of Classic Who unfortunately tend to be very haughty about Classic Who, thinking it highly superior to the reboot.

For Doctor Who, there are far more episodes per season since the reboot in 2005 than there were before the reboot, iirc. I think the earliest seasons have at most 10 episodes per season, generally sitting around 6 or 7 per season, while since the reboot there's been at least 12 per season.

But I don't play recent games so I don't fit into gamer subclass either. Believe me when I say I've tried to find an appropriate group of friends who share my interests but it's not possible to find the Toujours subclass of nerds because I'm the only one lol.

I have been told to watch Doctor Who SO MANY times but I can never find time to do so :( My life is busy enough.

I also have to watch Monthy Phyton and the Holy Grail. I have only watched Life of Brian yet D;

omg Went you have to watch Holy Grail. Maybe it's time for another staff movie night at Erica's.

I've yet to find people with every last nerdy interest I have... but I've come close in certain areas! Which is a feat considering how nerdy my interests get.

I've also been told to watch Doctor Who many times. I've been lazy about watching it, but I've still managed to catch 10 random episodes over the past two years.
