Great cartoon though, both amusing and illustrates the basic psychological connection between defining factors and attributes. Props.

Yeah, but even then it's so wrong we can't even do error corrections to it, not to mention we don't know what they were trying to simplify/solve...

The integral is what they were trying to solve. It's calculus; an integral is the area under the curve. The answer should be x^3/3 + C.
 
xkcd really is a great cartoon, even though sometimes in order to really get it, I have to use xkcd explained.

Whenever I do get it, though, I feel like a really smart person.

This is a stereotype I never understood. Any math class I ever had - be it elementary school, high school, university - the top student was female. Best tutors I had or whoever students that led the math lab sessions in university were female. In high school, at the 'academic' level (as opposed to 'applied'), I would say a sizeable portion of the class was female.
 
That's because math makes things complicated.

Women love to make things complicated.

Therefore, women are good at math.
 
I never really paid much attention to arbitrary things to do with people in school. Near as I could tell there were a few winners, and a whole lot of losers. Football and cheer only had decent pupils because both membership and ascent in the team required it. That was the general state of things at all four schools I attended, bar Fountain-Fort Carson HS which had a noticeably larger number of people who cared about grades. This is easily accredible to the internationalized nature of military bases, and how most of the kids there have been outside of the US and aren't born and raised in an ignorant darkness about the rest of the planet like so many are.

The Wilson thread was becoming similar to pretty much any given forum topic on Gaia Online.

Speaking of Gaia, I just cut all ties with that site and I'm never looking back. That place is such a cesspool of idiocy and the people on the forums don't even qualify as human beings.

Prepare to be **** on if you complain about the lack of actual hentai on FAKKU. I saw a thread linked from ED on there, it's not pretty. Those folks are nuts over the forums - gigantic post counts, gigantic egos, in-your-face banners and avatars, and in-your-face attitudes. I laughed out loud when I saw a forum elder call someone out as underage for disagreeing with them. :P

Who's really underage with that absence of maturity?

Yeah, but I can easily avoid that brand of idiocy. If I'm on a porn/hentai site, the last thing I'm going to be doing is browsing the forums.
