When you hear the name "Hope's Peak Academy", you only think about one thing: it doesn't matter what they are best at, they are the best of the best. The students from Hope's Peak are referred to as Ultimates, from the Ultimate Lucky Student, Athlete, to the Ultimate Chef. Hope's Peak Academy has every category covered, at the highest caliber possible for each one. Graduating from this school means that you're set for life in one way or another.

And there you stand, about to join all these Ultimates, thinking to yourself;
"Is this really something I can handle? Knowing that this school leads to certain success.''
In front of the gates of Hope's Peak Academy, about to take your first stride onto the school grounds.

And everything blurred away…

Into darkness…

It feels like an instant, your vision comes back. You look around and notice all the other people around you. Just like you, locked into chairs by some kind of handcuffs. You try to speak to them, but your whole body feels paralyzed… After looking around a bit more you come to realization everyone is inside a gym.

Suddenly you hear a voice: AHEM!
All attention diverted to the stage located at the end of the gym.

What looks like a stuffed bear is sitting on the table placed on the stage of the gym.
"Oy! Is everyone awake!? Well then, I think it's time to begin!!"

I'm Monokuma. I'm your.. I mean this school's.. headmaster, yes!
Nice to meet you all! If you want more information about me you are free to ask later.
Let's begin the proceedings, shall we?


Suddenly an outburst from multiple students: "What? Is this a joke? A bear? A robot? It has to be a joke…"

AHEM! Stand! Bow! Good morning, you bastards! I know you're all locked into chairs, but bear with me for now. Well then, I'd like to begin an opening ceremony you'll all remember for life! I have a short statement to kick off you bastards' school lifes… Eh—You bastards are definitely all geniuses filled with overflowing talent. You bring Hope to the world! In order to preserve and guard that hope…

You will have to live a communal lifestyle entirely inside this school's walls from now on. I hope everyone respects each other and keeps order! Forever!




Suddenly the voices of multiple students become audible, objecting the weird claims made by Monokuma.

Oh, you guys are regaining your motorfunctions already. Guess I'll just have to up the dose a bit. Don't you worry though, there is nothing to worry about. We will take good care of you all. We have plenty of budget. You bastards won't lack anything, I promise.



"IS THIS A JOKE?! YOU LIA---" one student yells out. But the paralysis keeps everyone else in check.

I am most certainly not a liar! I have great pride in that. I can't lie.

Didn't you all come to this school out of your own free will? You have nothing to whine about.

As this school's headmaster, I've made a special rule for people who want to leave the school! It's a rule called "graduation"! I'm sure you all want to hear about it, so let me explain it in detail.

Among you are the Despair, people who want you all dead. In order to spread despair through the world. All you have to do is get them all killed before you die yourself. Only then you will able to get out of here. I don't really care who wins. I'm just a bear. bears don't really care.
It is possible one or more of you will die each day, so do your best! Use the powers at your disposal.

Just read the front page post if you want to read some more about it. Thank you all for your attention. It's getting late, I should be doing the late night announcement. Just this one time I will do it in person.

Please take a look inside your pockets later, after getting up from your sleep. There you will find your Electric Student ID Card. With these you can open your own private rooms.

Suddenly the gym floor opens up and multiple Monokuma come out.

Carrying all the students to their own room. No one objected, just sitting in their chairs frozen in fear. Seeing just what Monokuma is capable of.

This time only the Hope get subdued and fall into sleep, with the doors still unlocked the Despair have their pick for tonight.

DAY ONE​

Footsteps can be heard by anyone who is still awake. A few people came together in the corridors, talking about who would be the greatest threat to them, the first one to die. The Despair are bold, walking through the corridors without a disguise… someone who is supposed to be asleep, isn't.

Good morning, you bastards! It's 7 in the morning! Time to wake up!
Let's all strive to do our best today! Go to the cafeteria if you're hungry!​

Students who aren't up already get shocked awake from Monokuma on their TV-screens. "Who wakes up at 7…" a few students think to themselves. With hunger in their stomach everyone makes their way to the cafeteria. No one notices the one student missing, they hadn't seen each other for more than an hour yet, after all.

Suddenly, after just finishing up their breakfast, he appears infront of everyone:

Ehhh… Everyone, it's time for your morning gymnastics. You guys are so slow, time to get that heart pumping! Meet up at the gym ASAP.


And as sudden he appeared as quick he is gone again.
"Now we even have to run for this guy." reluctanctly they make their way to the gym. But everyone stops moving as soon as they open the door to the gym.

As they open the heavy doors to the gym however, a horrifying scene was laid out before them. A young girl's body was being held up by two practice spears. One pierced through her right leg, the other through the left side of the chest. Like a twisted statue - with blood strewn about everywhere around her.

Machomuu is dead. He was Aoi Asahina.

Various students dwelled the school, but no one knows what they were up to.

First thing that sticks out to me is that Machomuu died.

Yeah well it's guaranteed that Sakura and Junko are Despair, though Sakura is both Hope and Despair. At this point, hints relating to characters won't help us anyways, as we don't know who anyone is (and revealing this early isn't a great idea)

I'll try to read up on Danganronpa when I get home (as in, the actual game/anime) since I don't know much of anything about it lol

I did a little research myself to see if the spears meant anything, however I found the only one to be killed by spears was in Trigger Happy Havoc by Monokuma.
