Is kind of a pushover? I beat him with just Trumbeak. I had Cutiefly, Torracat, and a useless Kadabra in reserve and never needed them. His Crabrawler's Z Move was cool and all, but I two shotted it and one shotted his other Pokemon. What do you think? Is he a pushover and a challenge?

He does specialize in fighting types so it's not too big of a surprise you had easy time using Trumbeak. I had just Brionne and Meowth and I actually lost my initial battle with him. I know they kinda build him up in-game as some super powerful trainer, but it's still an early game fight.

Maybe there's a second battle down the line?

    He's just the first...lol

Also there's plenty of Flying types at the start (Wingnull, Pikipek, plus Pokemon with flying moves such as Rowlet).

I can agree with most of the statements here, and while his Crabrawler did take out my Trumbeak (now retired from the team) with a Z-Move, he is actually not that difficult because there's so many early captures that resist Fighting - namely stuff like Drowzee, Cutiefly (4x Fighting resist in fact) and many Bug and Flying-types as well.

Considering I didn't have any pokemon that were strong against fighting at the time, it wasn't very easy. I beat him first try but I had to resort to stalling with poison, his power up punch and z-move really messed me up more than they should've.

The first two pokemon were a joke but Crabrawler was actually a close fight.

True I thought he was going to be a lot more powerful. I knew he was the second real trial you had to do but everyone was so impressed by him!

I didn't want to be that guy who used their starter to beat him so I tried using Pikipek and it got one shotted by his Z-Move. I was very disappointed to say the least...

I had some trouble since I only had Rowlet and Pichu on my team. Rowlet barely survived against his Crabrawler's Z-Move. I thanked Arceus for that.

At least when I go into Moon I will know what to expect.

I kinda wrecked him using Cutiefly. However, if I was doing a nuzlocke like I did in ORAS, I would have lost my starter as the Z attack had knocked it out at full health. I've found the Red Card ace trainer was more of a challenge so far over the leaders haha.

This. But I feel like the first island is literally just to give you a feel for the game, get a hang of the mechanics. I found things really picked up once I got to the second island.
