E3 2014 - PC's Official Conference And Livestream Discussion Thread!

They hype up Bruce Lee being in UFC (he didn't invent MMA what) and then not show him use Jeet Kune Do in the game.

This...feels like an insult to his legacy.

Games and other media rarely portray historical people correctly :(.

Now EA are showing a game that involves shooting. So many shooting games today.

That conference was bad.

3/10

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'll actually feel for these digital player. Maybe it'll actually fundamentally change the way I play these sports.

LOL NAH

Ubisoft next. Won't be able to watch Sony, but I'll catch up when I wake up. Nintendo is who I'm hyped for.

Xbox was pretty much games games games. pretty decent, with super ultra dead rising arcade hd edition plus alpha tournament edition. it was overall pretty good for what it was, but I don't have or want an xbox, so i watched it mainly for the 3rd party stuff that will eventually come to Playstation or PC.

EA's conference was just bad in general, Bioware and Mirror's Edge were the only things I gave a damn about, I might have cared about the Star Wars thing, but I couldn't get into the stream until it was already over. Ech.

Sport games have never really interested me.

In the stream I was watching (it was one on Twitch) they said the EA conference was the best out of the two we've seen...but it barely felt like it showed anything! Both were bad imo...

Sadly I won't be able to see Sony's either as I have a final today at 6...guess I'll watch it when I get hope or tomorrow after I watch Nintendo's (I'm hyped for them too out of any of them).

I feel like that's all EA publishes, and that's why I've never been a fan of theirs \: Looking forward to Sony's conference though!

Seems like it. The only none sports I saw was the sims and the one with the explosions...

I hope it's more exciting than Microsofts was ^_^.

Sports games aren't the only games they've created recently though. Here are a list of some of the top games that they've made or had a hand in making (disregarding the obvious sports games):
  • Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
  • Titanfall
  • Need for Speed Rivals
And then coming soon:
  • New Mirror's Edge
  • New Star Wars Battlefront
  • The Sims 4
So I mean as much as EA gets a bad rep for the sports games they reskin every year, they actually do have a good catalog of games that they've partaken in making in the past and in hopefuly the near future.

It certainly doesn't feel like they have a great catalog when they spend over half of the conference discussing sports games.

Also, Ubisoft's conference just straight up dropping f-bombs and crap... alright.

Well there's nothing wrong with that on a business stand point. Considering how the majority of the games EA releases is sports-based and the fact that their sales for these games haven't been doing as well as they did in the past, it would make sense that they would dedicate most of their time trying to capture the average gamer's attention by trying to convince them otherwise to buy the newest additions of say Madden or FIFA. Is it good on a business level? Yes. Is it good for the gamers? Depending on the games you like to play, probably not.

Yeah, I totally get why they did it, I just think they did it very poorly, especially since they didn't do much to interest people who don't already buy the games yearly.

"Coming soon"

Also I love sports but E3's audience don't want sports, they want games. That's actually bad marketing. You sell sports game via advertising, not in game conventions. That's silly.

"Fitness is NOT fun" what the hell ubisoft? :V

Ubisoft's was alright. Pacing was so off with some games getting TOO much screen time while some didn't, and we rarely got gameplay footage.

Rainbow 6 looks really cool though.

5/10

So far Microsoft redeemed themselves, EA is EA and Ubisoft was pretty disappointing. Sony and Nintendo are next, and they'll be big.
