E3 2014 - PC's Official Conference And Livestream Discussion Thread!

There's supposed to be some sort of connector thing for the 3DS and amiibos being announced for next year so 3DS owners will get the goodies too. ...which totally justifies me collecting toys-er, FIGURINES. :B

A lot of announcements for the Wii U which saddens me because I don't have one. :/

Please remember that's not all the country it's being released and that not all released dates have been announced. And that they never indicated that it was a simultaneous release like X and Y. They just said "worldwide in November" . At least you don't have to wait 3 months, a week isn't that much of a wait.

(You should probably be grateful we're getting remakes in the first place.)

They also said worldwide during X and Y's development.

I know, it is just a week. But a week takes sooooo long when you're waiting on something. I can remember it being October 5th last year, when it took a week before X and Y released. The wait was so painful.

The main thing I'm pissed about is all the spoilers I'll be seeing. I know, I can avoid that by not going on the internet, but I'm not going to seclude myself for 7 days. It's just really dissapointing.

And to end this rant, I'm very happy and grateful with the games, and I can't wait to play them.

Nintendo did a rocking job.

I'm really excited for the open world Zelda game and I've never even played Zelda before. Splatoon is looking pretty good too... overall it was very worth it to purchase a Wii U last weekend. Happy camper right here. :')

Yoshi's Woolly World too aieee. I've always wanted to play Kirby's Epic Yarn and this one is even more visually pleasing.

Yes but worldwide shouldn't indicate that the games will be released on the same day. In fact in some select countries X and Y weren't released on October 12. I think in ORAS' case worldwide just means around the same time/same month. I don't know, I'm just really excited for these games!

No gameplay information about LoZ '15 or ORAS.
How? Did you miss the trailer? It's pretty much redesigned XY, which was obvious. The only question mark is if we'll have some gimmicks, like the character customization or something new.

Showing a few clips of gameplay isn't really informative. It was more like a commercial. They only really discussed the Yoshi game, amiibo, and Splatoon. Hopefully we'll get some information later today. :)~

Gonna start putting away a bit of each paycheck for a Wii U now. :)

But you already have gameplay footage of XY. This short commercial is quite informative. They don't need to spoonfeed us every single detail. It's the same engine so no need to focus too much on the showcasing it.

Okay, so I'm going to take a quick look at everything shown at E3 and I'm going to tell you what's "cool" and what's "lame." First off is the stuff I saw for Microsoft conference:

- Microsoft's ass-kissing (Lame): the only reason your console is even selling in the first place is because Xbox fanboys have easily forgiven you for how you were planning on screwing them over before the launch of the console with overemphasis on TV, a $500 starting price, required Kinect, restricting game re-sales, and so much more BS. Don't act like I haven't forgotten and don't try to kiss up to me, because I still haven't forgiven you yet and your praise of the gamer-base comes off as condescending. Also, your overemphasis on making sure the Xbox this year was going to be about games was pathetic. Yeah, you're all about games…which is what a console should be about in the first place. You act as if a console is normally supposed to be about something other than games (it shouldn't be). Saying you're all about games on a gaming console isn't revolutionary, it's expected. Idiot.

- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Lame): Wow, another Call of Duty. Yawn. I haven't followed this franchise since Modern Warfare 1 and I don't plan on starting again, even with the pseudo-futurism. In fact, it looks more like the hundreds of other futuristic first-person shooters that have already been released. Pass.

- Forza Motorsport 5 (Lame): Another racing game. Nothing special.

- Assassin's Creed Unity (Cool): I'll admit, I wasn't big on Black Flag because of the pirate gimmick, but it looks like they did away with it this time, so I guess I might give it a chance if it's also on PS4.

- Dragon Age: Inquisition (Cool): I might give this a try on PC, though.

- Sunset Overdrive (Cool): Too bad it's on Xbox One only, which I won't be getting anytime soon.

- Fable Legends (Lame): Likely to be more promises the developers can't keep. Just like all the other Fable games.

- Halo 5: Guardians (Lame): Yawn, another Halo game for jocks to play and choke on wimpy-ass regenerating health and shields.

SONY:

- Destiny (Cool): Finally, Bungie doing something other than Halo. It's described as an action-RPG like Fallout New Vegas in Space, so I might give this a try.

- The Order: 1886 (Cool): Looks like a nice atmospheric action-adventure game. This one I'll probably give a shot too.

- Entwined (Undecided): Looks quite unusual, I'll have to see more before I come to a decision.

- inFamous First Light (Cool): Looks pretty good. Hoping it's actually good.

- LittleBigPlanet 3 (Undecided, probably lame)

- Bloodborne (Cool): It's being made by the same director as Demon Souls and Dark Souls. It already sounds like a challenging funfest.

- Far Cry 4 (Cool): I love open-world games. I haven't played Far Cry before, but I think now's a good a time as any.

- Dead Island 2 (Lame): I liked this better when it was called Left 4 Dead.

- Battlefield (Lame): Yawn, another military shooter.

- Grim Fandango (Cool): It's Tim Schafer. Of course I'll give it a try.

- No Man's Sky (Cool)

- Mortal Kombat X (Cool as ♥♥♥♥): Can't ever go wrong with Mortal Kombat.

- The Last of Us (Undecided)

- Grand Theft Auto V (Cool): Already played it, but it'll be nice to see what changes they've brought to the remake.

- Batman: Arkham Knight (Cool)

- Uncharted 4 (Cool)

Just by your quick thoughts on some of these games, I'm assuming you're tired of the first person shooter genre like a lot of other gamers are?

It's pretty much bread-and-butter at this point. A thing to fall back on when you have no ideas.

I personally thought Nintendo did an amazing job this year, especially compared to the snooze-fest last year. I thought the structure of the Digital Event was fantastic, it was fun to watch while also delivering some pretty big punches right to the feels:
  • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Yoshi's Wooly World are both so very cute and pretty, with Yoshi looking to deliver some real eye-candy and both titles are looking to deliver tons of fun and become part of Nintendo's famed "instant classics" collection. Not to mention their obvious value as spiritual installments to a number of old and recently established IPs (the Yarn series to be specific).
  • The Pokemon ORAS trailer was really cool, my hype for these games is out of the roof tbh ;-;
  • Captain Toad looks like a ton of mindless fun, cute puzzles in colorful settings? All of my yes.
  • Mario Party 10 was both a) a great choice and b) well placed after the event itself, because we all know exactly what to expect so why waste time?
  • We're getting a new Star Fox! I mean, that's really good news. I'd have obviously liked some gameplay footage during the event, but I guess they don't have enough yet? Project Giant Robot sounds cool, especially considering the lack of any good mech games recently, [sigh].
  • Splatoon looks wonderful tbh, very colorful, creative mechanics, and the art style/level design beautifully complement the concept. Done right, this could be a great new IP for Nintendo, and a great multiplayer TPS with an interesting twist overall.
  • AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THAT ZELDA. MY HEART EXPLODED OUT OF MY CHEST.

Looks to me like Nintendo is readying up a really neat lineup of exclusives that could cumulatively be just the push this console needs (paired of course with the recently released Mario Kart 8 and the upcoming SSBWii U).

NINTENDO:

- Reggie VS Iwata (cool as the ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥ to end all ♥♥♥♥dom): This was the best thing about E3 2014. Hands down.

- Super Smash Bros 4 (Cool): Looking forward to another Super Smash Bros. Always fun to play. And having your own Mii join the fray is cool as hell. Good to see Palutena join the fight too.

- Legend of Zelda Wii U (Cool as ♥♥♥♥): An open-world Zelda is a welcome addition, especially after how boring A Link Between Worlds was.

- Pokemon OmegaRuby and Alpha Sapphire (Cool): Looking forward to these remakes for a long time and when they come out, I will jump for joy.

- Bayonetta 2 (Cool as hell): Sexy as hell, too.

- Hyrule Warriors (Cool as hell): This'll be my first introduction to the Dynasty Warriors style games. Plus, Princess Zelda looks great in this game and kicks so much ass.

- Xenoblade Chronicles (Cool): This certainly looks interesting to say the least.

- Mario Maker (Cool)

- Splatoon (Cool)

- Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (Cool)

I was a little surprised with Miyamoto's little Guard project that he says it doesn't have a genre, when tower defense is so well-established at this point.

Did I miss Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem? I didn't even notice it...

https://www.twitch.tv/nintendo

Treehouse showcasing all revealed games so far, they just finished Captain Toad and are showing Splatoo. Plus all games revealed had new trailers showing gameplay on Nintendo's youtube. The digital event focused on the reveals, rather than showcasing for the most part.

This is exactly what I wanted to see! There are so many good WiiU games coming. Late 2014 and 2015 looks so strong for Nintendo.
