How do you like living in the Philippines? What are some of the best and worst qualities of that country you feel?
oh boy prepare for a wall of text.
I've liked living in my country ever since I was young. I was happy with the climate, I was too young for politics, I loved my friends, I love the tourist spots. We don't get much bad weather but if we do, we can always survive through it. Through my youth-tinted glasses, my country was awesome.
Then I grew up. I became involved in politics during my stint in student government. I saw how effed up our government have been since I was young. Corruption run rampant, man. Officials are hiding stuff from the people, committing massacres left and right, using education as a business way, offering shady deals to private sectors, etc. I got fed up with our government. It only worsen when we elected a womanizing, misogynist, rape-approving, murderous, strongman who is only interested in vesting positions of power to people who helped him throughout his campaign. I'm fed up with our president but the frustrating is, majority of our people doesn't seem to get how incompetent he is. He uses rhetoric and jokes to hide behind the fact that he do nothing to help the country. He's a one-trick phone who uses the drug-issue to impose martial law in certain parts of our country, or let the police commit killings, all for the sake on his war of drugs. His lackeys spin his words to sound good and always put the blame on the other party for their ****-ups. We installed a porn star in the communication department for f's sake, just because, to loosely translate our president, "they were there during my campaign and it's time I pay the price." he even offered some position to the pornstar's friends. WHen asked why he will do that, he told the press, "I own the palace now." Also, he and his supporters blame the press for any negative image.
so yeah, right now I'm too fed up with this country and I want to leave.
