  • I like most types (although Bug and Poison are "catch only what you need" types for me). My top 5 favorite types:

    5. Steel (That high Defense and Poison immunity is a life-saving combination; I go out of my way to catch/breed a few favorite Steel-type species "just in case" ).
    4. Grass (Lots of beautiful, graceful Pokémon with decent healing moves -- Roselia's move-pool and looks put it on my "must catch/breed" list, despite the secondary Poison type.)
    3. Water (Very versatile; the four Water-type HMs have won a lot of gym battles for me and helped me get around afterwards. Wailmer and Goldeen learning a usually-HM move by leveling up is a big plus. Now, if only some Water-type could learn Surf by leveling up; Lapras should, being the Transport Pokémon!)
    2. Fairy (Cute doesn't have to mean helpless; look out, Dragon specialists! {XD} The David-and-Goliath relationship between two "mythical creature" types was one of Game Freak's brighter ideas; they even gave Fairy Pokémon a weakness to Steel, consistent with Western folklore.)
    1. Normal (Sometimes, less is more...the simplest type in terms of strengths and weaknesses, and one of the easiest types to find. And, of course, Teddiursa's a pure Normal-type! D'awww...)

    • Flying -- Most of my all time favourites are Flying types, particularly the Bird Pokemon.
    • Psychic -- I love the design of so many Psychic types such as Gardevoir, Gallade, Lunatone etc.
    • Dark -- Some of the coolest looking Pokemon are Dark-types such as Weavile, Bisharp, Honchkrow etc.

  • I think all types are great in their own way, but my favs would have to be Water, Dragon, and Electric. One is my first choice for a starter, and I just really like the other 2 for some reason.

Fighting type here, mainly because my first game was RSE and my starter was Blaziken. In close second would be bug since it has some pretty cool pokemon like Scizor and Heracross.

  • Fairy and Psychic have been my favorites since X/Y. Prior to 6th gen, however, it was just Psychic.

  • 1. Grass - Due to ever potent Sleep Powder and like.
    2. Psychic - because their glass cannon stats (high attack, high agility, low defense) for some appeal to me.
    3. Normal - Because I just love spamming Hyper Beam and Headbutt too much not to have one of this.

  • 1- Poison: Most are cool looking. biggest threat is ground/rock/steal which they don't have much of an answer for but otherwise do very well vs every other type. Poison stab, fang, and just toxic in general is a mofo!

2 - Water : Love the design of many water types and this type is home to most of my favorite pokemon: Kabutops, Starmie, Lapras and several others i like a lot. Perhaps even more than "fly" surf has always been my favorite and most appreciated HM.

3- Steel: The defense is too legit. Since physical attack is so dominant, they usually make the best physical walls and generally look pretty cool too. However, they suffer too many very common weaknesses. Black/White(2) was extremely unforgiving with the fighting types.

  • Aside from the Pokemon and some of the moves they have, there's no particular reason why Steel and Ice are my two favorite types, but they have been for as long as I can remember.

After those two, there's a bit of a jumble between Psychic, Fire, Water, Dark, and Ghost as my next favorite type, which is why I generally just stick with my top 2.

  • I do kinda wish they would stop making types though. Or at least having everyone be dual type. Won't be long til all pokemon crit eachother :-/

They only added 1 new typing in around 15 years. I don't think this is a real fear at the moment.

My favorite typing is Ice. I love a lot of the designs, and it's one of my favorite powersets for a character in general, even outside pokemon. I can't wait 'till they design a pokemon based on Elsa.
