For me, exploration brings a lot to the gaming experience. Pokemon is no exception.

What are some of your favourite/least favourite locations and why?

I really like Celadon City. I get really nostalgic thinking about how much time I spent virtually gambling. I had an addiction, okay! And I hate every cave. I always forget to bring repels. -_-

Also, I don't dislike it but damn is Lumiose City hard to navigate.

I loved Route 119 - the Feebas Route! It's really long and has this "adventure-y" feel to it, especially combined with the music which is my most favorite in any Pokemon game. My childhood secret base was there too, it was a bush behind long grass just near the entrance to Fortree. It was removed in the remakes, sadly. :(

Least favorite would be caves and water routes. They tend to be really boring and repetitive to navigate through, especially with the wild Pokemon on every step. Surfing is a bit more fun though.

It's a tossup between Fortree and Verdanturf for me :) I'm a huge fan of Hoenn towns so both are right up there. Verdanturf is by far my favorite in terms of music!

Caleastia city in pokemon Black and white is my favorite place.

I'm sort of a Francophile but I really like Lumiose City. It really captured the "get lost in Paris" feel and the seemingly endless exploration. The circular design that takes advantage of the unlocked (8-directional) movement was cool too. I'll admit I still don't know my way around Lumiose City, but by getting lost you end up in little cafes and locations you might not have noticed before.

The imitations of real-life locations in France for Kalos was corny sometimes, sometimes just the same landmark with a different name, but it was still nice. (is that even a pun?)

I'm a city person so Castelia City was cool too. Running into people all the time was annoying though haha. I wish Unova (which was sort of based off of the US, particularly the NYC area) had included a little more of Upstate New York (insert lame hometown pride here). I'll admit there's not much north of NYC, but the Adirondack Mountains would've been a nice naturey part.

I agree that exploration is one of my favourite things in Pokémon games though. That and the culture really make you feel like you're in a different place, which is always awesome.

I don't usually like caves but Glittering Cave was pretty great.

In general, I don't like that the cities that are considered "big cities" only have a few tall houses and buildings, along with a couple attractions. I know that making a Lumiose City for every big city in game would be very unlikely, but I feel like some of the cities aren't really complete.

Okay, I take it back. Not all caves because Glittering Cave was interesting. Usually I find caves chore. And I see your point about Lumiose. I guess the more in each city, the better. The games have come such a long way considering cities used to have little more than 10 buildings.

My favourite is Laverre city in Kalos because I like the whole fairy tale theme it has, the music is pretty and autumn is one of my favourite times of the year.

My least favourite is any of the victory roads. I prefer to go through them with my whole team, but they always require HMs and I don't always like teaching them to team members.

I would spend so much time just hanging around in Goldenrod City. I loved the music and would listen to it while just walking around town, talking to everyone I could find, buying tons of stuff in the department store... It's a really great town!
Of course I think Lumiose City is absolutely incredible. It completely blew my mind the first time I played it- I actually think there are still places I haven't gone in that town. I could spend hours there.
Finally, any of the oceans in RSE were incredibly fun to explore. So much hidden treasures!

I love Lumiose City. There's just so much to do, see and explore.

I absolutely love Dendemille Town. The environment is calm and cozy, yet the music brings along a subtle feel of vitality. The windmills are gorgeous. The weather is perfect. It's a great town to be in.

Least favourite? Probably Castelia City. With the exception of Black 2, the back of the city was a gigantic desert? What? Also, too many NPCs walking down the streets.

Since I'm a big Unova mark it's no surprise my top favorite location in the games has got to be Castelia City. I think it represents the busy life of my home town of NYC well. The skyscrapers, the feeling of really being part of this bigger world connects with me. Plus the nods to real world landmarks in the city like Liberty Island and Unity Tower helps.

There's a lookout point in Coumarine City where you can see the lower half of the city and some of the monorail track. Probably one of my favorite areas in Kalos.

It's awesome when you can tell which city Nintendo got inspiration from. I wonder what parts of the world will inspire S/M.

The whole section between Mauville City and Lilycove City (Route 119 + Fortee City + Route 120) is my favourite region in all the Pokémon games.

Other places that I love are Route 27 and Tohjo Falls in Johto-Kanto and the section between Veilstone City and Pokémon Mansion (Route 214 + Valour Lakefront + Route 213 + Route 212) in Sinnoh East, Safari Zone and Seafoam Islands in Kanto, and Shoal Cave and Trick House in Hoenn.

Celadon City has some fond memories for me too. I can still here that tune starting to play as you emerge from the Eastern route.

I quite like Snowpoint City in Sinnoh too. There is something pretty about a harbour town with snowfall, especially at night.
