    [PokeCommunity.com] Guardians of the Galaxy!

Is anyone else excited Guardians of the Galaxy is finally out? Who's already seen it!? If so, share what you thought. ^^

I really want to see it! In the cinema, even. But I actually haven't found anyone who wants to go and watch it with me yet, haha. If my sister gets better (long story but she's very ill at the moment) I might treat her to a trip to the cinema to see this. She'll probably agree :3

I heard it's part of the official Avengers movieverse. I wonder in what way the story will impact on the plot/characters from the Avengers.

I saw it yesterday, it was freaking fantastic. I'm just gonna flat out give it a 10/10. The climax was also, hands down, one of the best climaxes to come from a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date. I don't have much to say because I'm still pretty speechless from it.

Also, ironically, despite the space-opera theme and all the toys that are being made from the movie, this is probably the least kid-friendly MCU movie to date.

All Marvel Studios productions take place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (NOT Spider-Man and X-Men, since those are produced by Sony and Fox, respectively). Here's just a quick list of references, minor spoilers:
    Spoiler:

Let's just say the events of this film won't directly affect what happens in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it will most definitely affect what will happen in Avengers 3, which at this point it's pretty obvious that Thanos will be the main antagonist of.

Just went to see the movie on my birthday yesterday; it was fantastic for a film starring one of Marvel's obscure superheroes.

    Spoiler:

Yes, definitely not as kid friendly as other Marvel movies, but no worse than a normal summer action movie. Only little-little kids should probably avoid it.

That said, it's probably the best Marvel movie yet. Everyone I've talked to liked it. I went with people who were in their 50s and 60s and they liked it. Even though it's Marvel it's not a superhero movie. Maybe that's something to do with it. It's just a lot of fun. It's exactly what you want from a scifi adventure movie.

And, oh my goodness, the soundtrack.

    Everyone should go see it.

    Everyone.

I thought it was really good, but I felt like it fell short in some instances.

I felt like they could have capitalized on character development a little more. They did a good job of that throughout the movie, but there were a couple scenes that I felt like didn't live up to their potential. I decided to put these into spoilers for, well... spoiling reasons.

Despite that, I did really enjoy it. It was a hilarious, action packed adventure, and I certainly wasn't disappointed.

I went and saw it yesterday! Agree with your points, Slayr. Rocket was so awesome but the best character was GROOT
    Spoiler:

I wouldn't say it's the best Marvel movie I've seen because frankly I still love all the Iron Man movies more. But there were some really nice things about this, like the music and oh the scene with

I really want to see that movie but don't have time to watch it..

Going to see this tomorrow, heard fairly mixed reviews so far.

I'm not a huge Marvel fan as it stands, so my expectations aren't that high.

Yeah, even though they could have worked a little more on several of the main characters, they were still a very nice team of oddballs. Not at all a bunch of superheroes like the Avengers, just a ruddy pack of criminals more or less.

    Regarding Slayrs point

Regarding Slayr's point: ehh I thought it was kinda in line with his character, but to each his own.

Really enjoyed the movie! Although I did have some slight problems with some of the dialogue being off and the way they put the exposition in the beginning of the movie. Overall I though it was great, a solid 8/10 and my favorite Marvel movie as I haven't seen Cap 2 and I the only other Marvel film that I would give above a 7 is the Avengers and maybe the first Iron Man.

Edit: forgot to mention that soundtrack... so freaking good

I think i'd probably agree with the 8/10 rating the user above gave it. It was actually a very solid film, arguably the best film i've seen this year (albeit i've not seen many).

Would probably recommend, even if, like myself, you're not a huge Marvel fan.

It looks really terrible to me. It's as if Jar Jar Binks got his own movie. Pass.

I can assure that, in my opinion, it's far from terrible. Don't understand what you mean when you say "if JarJar Binks got his own movie, but whatever. I went to see it tonight with a few friends, and really , really enjoyed it! Probably the best movie I've seen in while (though I may be exaggerating, but it really was awesome). Definitely the best I've seen this year, although I rarely go to see movies and have only seen three current movies (one from 2013 that was Frozen) in 2014. I'm not the one to get really critical about movies, though. I like almost anything. But it definitely exceeded my expectations.

I disagree with Slayr's post. Although maybe not the best, his character in that scene was still rather solid. He really didn't seem off-character to me.

The soundtrack was also really fun!! I think "Hooked on a Feeling" will be stuck in my head for days and I really want my own Awesome Mix 1! Overall, I'd say a good 9 or 10/10. I would go see it again to be honest, loved it that much.

I didn't... really like it all that much? I wasn't even going to see it, originally, because I thought all the trailers for it were really boring. The internet hype that it got (all those amazing reviews) and the fact that I really enjoy Marvel movies... well, I caved and went to see it.

It was alright. Better than I expected, but I'd gotten my hopes up a little too high because of the reviews and walked out of the theatre kind of disappointed. Most of the jokes fell flat to me, it kind of dragged on at times, the special effects didn't seem quite as up to par... (there were a lot of moments when I was pulled out because the CGI was so obvious in action scenes when I've never had that problem with a Marvel film before).

I ended up never caring about almost any of the characters, too. I only liked Peter and maaybe Gamora. Everyone else was either boring or... well, I just didn't really see the point of them. (Well, okay, I kind of warmed up to Groot by the end.) I keep comparing it to Avengers, which was the first Marvel movie I'd ever seen. I was enthralled during that whole movie when I first saw it, and when I left the theatre I was so excited to go home and find all the other movies in the timeline so I could learn more about all the characters. This one? If I found out that there were more films that introduced me to the characters in this group, I'd maybe check out Starlord's and then I probably wouldn't want anything to do with the others. :( I don't know why these characters were so uninteresting to me!

Still, it was definitely worth watching. I was entertained and I don't regret paying my admission to see it.

Wheee I saw this today and was highly entertained tbh. It was gleefully chaotic and took nothing too seriously even when there was the potential for it to go that way and I loved that. I loved that I really, properly enjoyed it and there were no points where I was like "oh well that doesn't seem right". I mean I'm a fan of both Schlock Mercenary and Firefly which are somewhat comparable to the movie so that style of thing obvs sits well with me. And GotG delivered pretty much what I like in space opera in a nice amount of time. Wrapped up well, too- clearly the saga ain't over, but it's not like the main plot was left hanging in anticipation of a sequel. It feels like that's done and they're off to new adventures and idk everything about the movie just felt alive and fun. That's what I like in media. :P

I've really enjoyed the movie. My hype for it for the past few months were all not in vain.
The soundtrack is really nostalgic, too. My only disappointment (well, not really) was that the post-credit scene didn't really reveal that much.
