My idea was just to vote an inactive player, and there were a bunch at that point so it felt like there would be a good chance that I would miss the silenced snake. I actually thought it might have been Golgari since he deleted his post so I voted for Melody randomly.

As it turned out, one of these people were silenced: Golgari, Ice, and Melody. Probably Golgari or Melody, as Ice still hasn't posted today so he could just be inactive. So maybe I made a bad choice but I just wanted to get some activity going, needed to vote (as I said in my post) and it didn't end up mattering anyway. Besides, if you didn't like my idea, why'd you vote for Melody as well?

I can see that the target was protected by the Bird of Prey, but what makes the target Chief Soaring Eagle?

I read it to mean that the Howling Wolf was attempting to recruit someone, but as it was a chief, the recruitment failed

I'm more inclined to think the recruit was saved by the Bird of Prey based on the flavor text, as it mentions an separate eagle taking him into the sky, rather than him flying off by himself, which would seem more likely if their target had been the Chief.
