Welcome one and all to the weekly Gym Leader World Tournament! These are weekly polls that pits Gym Leaders one and against each other to see will come out on top! So, in these polls, feel free to tell us about your favourite gym leader in each region that's represented! Now, if you'd like to see what this is all about, feel free to read the rules below:

- Every week, there will be a poll attached, with different Gym Leaders of each region. Each thread will have different Gym Leaders from different regions companies like Kanto, Unova, Hoenn, and so on.
- You are not restricted to one vote - you can vote as many Gym Leaderfavourites as you like!
- In the event of a tie at the end of the week, I, Dragon will have the tie-breaking vote, just to have a clear winner!
- Frequent voters will receive an emblem featuring the winning video game at the end!
- Feel free to explain who you voted for, and why on this thread!
- Any questions? Feel free to ask me in VMs or PMs!

So, as said, this week will focus on the Kanto Gym Leaders, so choose your favourite gym leaders from Kanto listed, and the winner will be posted on Tuesday, March 24th! Just a note, you don't have to base your answer from the games. You can do so through the anime and manga as well!

Sabrina has always remained as one of my all time favourite Gym Leaders since Red and Blue. I like her style, the Pokemon she uses and her character in the anime was always so mysterious.

Erika, because she's gorgeous. I've always liked Erika's design; she's elegant, graceful and composed, making her exactly what you'd expect a Gym Leader to be. Plus she uses grass types, and before the ghost type got crazy awesome in later gens, grass was my favourite type.

She's also responsible for two of the greatest things ever: the lecherous old man outside her Gym ("This Gym is great! It's full of women!") and Ash's dressing up as a girl for the first time.

So, Erika wins...although if they all had a fight, I expect Misty would win. Damn her and her bloody Starmie...

Misty! Misty in the GSC games and pokespe manga (well, any manga) is the hottest and most fun and interesting gym leader. Need I even mention how awesome she is in the anime? Plus, hers was the first themed TCG deck I ever owned <3

I'm gonna choose Erika! She's pretty much my favourite Gym Leader of all time and you know, I overall love her demeanor, aah. She's pretty, kind, and she has the best badge ever!

What she probably needs for her gym leader strategy is to utilize Sunny Day since she likes to use pokemon that has Chlorophyll like Victreebel, Jumpluff, etc, etc.

Misty & Sabrina I would pick also. :3

When it comes to the best gym leaders in Kanto, these ones get my vote:
Brock - Very first gym leader to ever be fought in the Pokemon series
Misty -
Lt. Surge
Koga
Blaine
Giovanni - Gym leader and the leader of Team Rocket

I thought Brock would have so much love. I was wrong apparently, but I didn't really play Generation 1 so I can't really say, but I picked Brock as he was one of my favourite characters in the anime when he was on. He's better than Cilan or Clemont.

Good going, me. Vote and then not post.

I voted for Blue. While the other Gym Leaders were there from the start for Kanto, I just like Blue more. Having him become a Gym Leader showed his growth as a character, and it was just really awesome how they brought him back that way. He also kept his diverse team, so he didn't have a clear weakness.

Plus his gym looked like it had giant Lego blocks in it.

- I love Misty because she's temperamental! She can be arrogant, compassionate, and outraged in a blink of an eye. In my view, she is the most realistic character because she is so dynamic. And that orange side ponytail plus suspender-shorts-midrift combo makes her one of the cutest characters of anime. I miss seeing her with the gang carrying a little togepi in her backpack.

- Sabrina is a little nuts, but that's why I love her. Her gym battle episode exemplify why gen 1 anime was the best. The dangers were real! After decimating Ash's Team and capturing Misty and Brock in her dollhouse, Ash set's out to get himself a ghost pokemon (to best her psychic pokemon...we can overlook the fact that the Gastly line is also poison type). First off, the Haunted House episode is arguable my favorite of the anime, so to that I can thank Sabrina, secondly, she's one of the few gym leaders to go through a change within episodes as well as being a real-life threat. Oh, and she's cute. (because that's totally important)

- The greatness that is Koga is nuanced but great nonetheless. I think a ninja poison type combo is perfect as a nod to smoke balls, stealthy poisons, and sleeping powders (not all gym leaders can pull off a motif as seamlessly). In-game, I loved this gym the most for some reason or another. Also, it's nice to see his promotion to elite four member status in the second generation.

I voted for Koga! His strategies were the most interesting by far (in fact he's the only one I remember using a strategy) and his gym felt really cool to me as a child, plus I've always loved Poison-type Pokémon so he's kind of an instant winner in my books!

 

[Brendino]

I'm not really sure why, but as a kid, Koga was always my favorite of the gym leaders, so I had to give him a vote here. Maybe it was because of his gym, or because he was a ninja, but he just seemed like an overall cool guy.

My other vote went to Blue, who finally broke the mold of the type themed gyms. It was also nice to get a chance to beat up on your old rival again from the previous games, considering all the grief that he caused you/Red.

It always been between Erika and Sabrina for me. I have to go with Erika ultimately as she is the only grass gym leader who I really think embodies her type.

 

[Hiatus]

Of all Gym Leaders we have in Kanto region, I feel I'm very... stuck to Brock.

One, major reason behind it would have to be how big of a character he seemed to have been in their anime. When it comes to their shows, although he was portrayed as just another Gym Leader during first few episodes, he began travelling with Ash later throughout, and hasn't stopped (he did take breaks every now and again, however) until after reaching Unova, if I'm not wrong. If it weren't for that, my feelings on him likely would have been different.

Second favorite is definitely Blue, due to similar reasons. He is a counterpart to Gary, who is a very popular anime character, and in-game, his rivalry with Red seemed to have been rather good, had furthered my fondness of him.
