4th Gen HeartGold/SoulSilver Speculation

I can see the ice rock being in the ice cave, and the moss rock being in Elix. If that's the case, then I think there's a good chance of two more sisters appearing.

Do you think they will be different?
Show me your thoughts
I really don't think this is worth a separate thread so I'm merging this with the main speculation sticky.

how did it get to two pages omg

I don't really know what else to speculate at this point.

One speculation I'm gonna throw out there is that the Roaming Dogs may not run amok in Johto. I'm suspicious that they'll make Entei and Raikou run around in Kanto, similar to the FireRed/LeafGreen Dogs.

Yes, but the rock wills probably only appear after you receive the National Dex.

They do that I expect Suicune the stay bakc and the crystal story is implemented.

I saw the screenshots yesterday of Gold and totodile and Gold and cyndaquil.
I don't really like the totodile sprite. That may be because it's just a screenshot and not the real game, but...
Just an opinion anyway.

It's true, they could have created the code to make it compatible, but the didn't. I'd rather them just not mess up the game by adding naything too new that could be put in the next generation, simply because having full compatibility with DPPt and HGSS needs to be done.

I couldn't agree more. Even though they could've put the code put in the code, I would leave new things for another generation.

Well...
You could get the Griseous Orb in Platinum, and attach it to Giratina. If you tried to trade it over to Diamond or Pearl, then Giratina would change to Altered Forme, and the Griseous Orb would vanish. They will more than likely take any items that weren't coded in D/P/Pt, and make them "vanish" if attempted to trade over.

Well, apparently this post got merged with another or maybe more than one, so I'm not gonna bother to go back and answer everything that was posted on the subject, XD. I'll just answer this post.

You'd be right about GameFreak being ABLE to make restrictions. It's probably more feasible to put it on a next-generation series, however. You must remember that G/S was a new branch in the series that was set to introduce new species of Pokémon. Whether they'd do it between two games on the same generation or not is another thing. Why would you break compatibility by introducing new moves or types? Why would you go the extra mile to create code to address this incompatibility? All you'd do is create inconveniences; hell, G/S couldn't enter battles with R/B/Y because the battle system was different (though they could, if they wanted to, create a compatibility layer that would include R/B/Y rules, but they didn't). It could only trade.

I completely agree with you; it's not a very likely possibility, and I wouldn't want it to happen. I'm just saying that the possibility is there. I think if they WERE to introduce anything like new Pokémon or types, it would be on a very small scale that wouldn't make much of a difference in the Metagame, or that wouldn't necessarily be noticed even if it had been programmed into DPPt. Let's not forget that FRLG introduced three new moves that were never previously available (the starter-exclusive Hyper Beam variants).

I'm not sure I would want them to implement a new type at all, since it seems balanced enough already and the game could quickly get as bloated with types as it is with Pokémon. I wouldn't have any idea of what to call it, either...but I suspect they'd be a little more creative than I on that subject, as I certainly wouldn't ever have thought of Dragon or Ghost being their own separate types.

This I find a bit unlikely, unless the legendary dogs also run around Johto as well as Kanto which then actually makes sense (heck, they could run around on the west side of Mt Silver, but not the east side. Wassup with that, dawgs?). But I see them keeping the same thing in GSC in that you 'activated' them by waking them up within Burnt Tower, tbh, and hence them running around at least in Johto seems like the logical thing to happen again. My opinion though.

I wouldn't want to see them in Kanto, I have a hard enough time tracking them down in one region ;_____;.

do you think they will or should make the trainers in the game stronger (by about 5 levels) as this was my only complaint about the origonals

Just My Thoughts

Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver Speculation/Wishlist
There are a lot of things I would love to see Nintendo and Game Freak do with the long awaited second generation remakes. These games have so much potential that it would be an utter shame not to see them fulfilled, a loss further amplified by the intense hype already stirred by just the announcements and one short, poor quality clip of a character simply walking around.

1. The PokéGear: The pokegear should not be replaced by the poketch, but the should do what they did with the poketch to the pokegear. It should have multiple functions utilized by the touch screen. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum fail to use the touch screen in a way that satisfies many fans' expectations of such a revolution in hand-held video games. In fact, the pokegear should be displayed on the touch screen most of the time, when other functions are not utilizing it, and should be easier to use than the Poketch (such as the ability to choose to go to an App directly rather than having to press a button multiple times to scroll through them, like in DPPt. It should be produced by a company similar to the Poketch company, possibly a different branch of the larger Silph/Devon/Poketch company, located in Goldenrod City, which is obviously the economic heart of Johto. The Vs. Seeker, Itemfinder, town map, radio, cell phone, and pokedex should all be apps on this technological marvel, along with the others from DPPt.

2. The starter following the character around is a welcome return from Yellow, definitely. This should be extended to the any one pokemon in his/her team the player chooses, not necessarily the first one. But this feature should be allowed to turned on or off by the player, because for some of us it gets annoying to constantly be followed around (think of the girl from Colosseum). Also, this feature should only extend to certain pokemon, such as baby pokemon or those under a certain weight/size limit. On land, only pokemon that can physically walk or fly on land should be able to follow (no Magikarp or Goldeen flopping around behind you), although water pokemon should be able to follow you if you're surfing. Also, no legendaries should be able to follow, because legendaries in the game are supposed to be incredibly rare and powerful, and play an integral role in keeping balance in the world, and in the anime legendaries are venerated to the point that they are almost deities. Having a Ho-oh following the character around is like a guy carrying around his pet phoenix in the real world: it's funny, but it's funny because of how absurd an idea that is.

3. There definitely needs to be more to do in Kanto. GSC reduced Kanto to almost post game, with very little to do besides a skirmish with one out-of-the-loop grunt. I'm not saying reincorporate elements from FRLG again, not at all, no one want's to buy the same game twice. However, a Kanto division which you would have to vanquish after you beat the Johto branch of Team Rocket, whose plot is already built on the existing Power Plant story line, would be good. And the Sevii Islands should still be included in the game, allowing a place for certain Hoenn and Sinnoh pokemon to be available. Kanto should be entered through Route 22 via routes 26 and 27, like how you got to Indigo Plateau in GSC. Then the character goes through Kanto in the same order as in RBY albeit with the new storyline, ending with conquering the Kanto Elite Four and all the Sevii Islands.

4. The Johto elite four should be headed by Pryce, as he is the Mask of Ice in the Pokemon Special Manga. His character is analogous to Giovanni in Kanto. Like you face Giovanni in the Game Corner and Silph Co., you should fight Pryce, although you don't know who he is, in the secret base under the Mahogany Pokemart and at the Radio Tower. Once you've beaten him once as Gym Leader, he goes into hiding and someone else takes over control of the Gym, maybe your rival, after you both have faced the Elite Four. My explanation for this series of events is that he faced the Elite Four before you but you deposed him as champion, so due to his strength as a trainer, he was offered the mantle of a Gym Leader. Of course, you'll go on to become Johto League Champion and thus end up still having a higher standing than him.

5. Just as Blue and Silver become Gym Leaders replacing Team Rocket Leaders in their respective regions, and you will have become Johto LEague Champion, to continue with the parallels, Red should be the Kanto League Champion, not be in Mt. Silver anymore. Let the story be that Blue was Kanto League Champion for a short time, then Red deposed him and has reigned as Champion for the past three years, letting Blue settle on replacing Giovanni. Red should still have the powerful team he had when he was on Mt. Silver in GSC, but just be relocated to assume his rightful position.

6. There need to be separate Elite Fours/Champions for Kanto and Johto. The Kanto League Pokemon League should still be located at Indigo Plateau, but the separate Johto League Headquarters should be somewhere else, maybe in a hidden city under Dark Cave, where in a way Dark Cave becomes Johto's Victory Road.

7. The Johto Elite Four should consist of, in order Will (Psychic), Koga (Poison), another trainer with a type specialty I haven't thought of yet, and Clair (Dragon). Karen, who was the fourth Elite in GSC, should become the 8th gym leader, since there has never been a dark type gym in any of the games. Of course, if we remove Clair as a Gym Leader, there will also be no Dragon-specializing gyms, but given the power and mystique of Dragon types, there shouldn't be. Also, this fits with the trend of Drake in Hoenn and Lance in Kanto. Dragon types are so powerful and rare that those pseudo-legendaries should be reserved for the leader of the Elite Four. Bruno is still on the Kanto Elite Four, and he shouldn't be allowed to be on both.

8. The Johto Champion should be a character like Steven in Hoenn and Cynthia in Sinnoh, who you meet multiple times and who helps you out during the game. Lance filled this role in GSC, but he already leads the Kanto Elite Four, and should stay there, making him ineligible to be Johto Champion.

9. The Kanto Safari Zone should still be open and the Bug Catching Contest should operate over WiFi.

10. Legendaries should play a bigger role in the story line. A deep storyline wasn't expected in the first and second generations, but now that Nintendo has created extensive mythologies surrounding Hoenn and Sinnoh legendaries, Johto, and Kanto for that matter, is in need of a good deity-like trinity of legendaries. What would be good is a third member for the Ho-oh and Lugia duo, a large flying legendary to match the aforementioned two and provides balance, like Rayquaza and Giratina. However, I recognize that this is unlikely as they didn't add any new pokemon introduced in FRLG. Lugia should be located in the Tin Tower in SoulSilver alone, and Ho-oh should be located in the rebuilt Burned Tower in HeartGold alone, with the silver and rainbow wings necessary to reach them, respectively. The third legendary should be located in the Whirl Islands. Some people might not like this, since they each already have their own special areas, but I would like to stick with the trend established in RSE and DPPt. Also, Celebi should be able to be caught at the Ilex Forest Shrine after you become Johto League Champion.

11. The link between the rival and his father Giovanni should be exposed, as it was hinted in FRLG. There should be a three way conflict between the character, the Rival, and Team Rocket headed by Pryce. Of course, the character is concerned with ending Team Rocket's insidious plots, the rival wants to prove he is better than you, and he harbors a hatred toward Team Rocket for his family situation, which is why he originally so angry and treats pokemon like tools. After Team Rocket is disbanded for the second time in three years, thus giving him a sense of resolution, he will learn to love his pokemon as friends and become a kinder hearted person and better trainer.

12. There should be a Johto Battle Frontier where the Battle Tower is located in Crystal.

13. The white rock concerning Shaymin ought to be located in Kanto in these remakes.

14. Return of Time of Day and Day/Night, and as such time based events.

15. The HM list should include Cut, Fly, Strength, Surf, Flash, Whirlpool, Waterfall, same as in GSC.

Those attacks might not have been available in Ruby or Sapphire, but there was still coding for them, so that they were compatible with the older games. The same applies to the majority of Kanto and Johto's Pokemon, in a way. Seeing as Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum have pretty much already been broken into by the hacking community, I doubt that this will be the case with HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Okay so you introduced yourself. Lets now break this up and find flaws.

1. The PokéGear: The pokegear should not be replaced by the poketch, but the should do what they did with the poketch to the pokegear. It should have multiple functions utilized by the touch screen. At least you mentioned the map. That would mean you want it to be color. I can agree. But the Poke-dex just no. That is a piece of technology that should stick on its own. And its quite evident by the menu on the touchscreen there will be a slot for it.
Yes this paragraph is exactly what I expect from them. No problems here!

3. There definitely needs to be more to do in Kanto. GSC reduced Kanto to almost post game, with very little to do besides a skirmish with one out-of-the-loop grunt. I'm not saying reincorporate elements from FRLG again, not at all, no one want's to buy the same game twice. Wow. the Kanto E4 idea dunno 1 E4 is enough really.

Of course, you'll go on to become Johto League Champion and thus end up still having a higher standing than him.
Manga=/=Games. And Pryce is perfect as the gym leader. And no one is so stupid as to put Silver in a gym. No one would ever get passed him. XD

Kanto E4 again. I do not see the need for 2 seperate leagues when they are combined to create the perfect league.
^is the explination.

Bruno is still on the Kanto Elite Four, and he shouldn't be allowed to be on both.
2 dragon people in the E4? Are you nuts? Lance is perfectly fine were he is.

Lance is awesome. He should stick where he is.

9. The Kanto Safari Zone should still be open and the Bug Catching Contest should operate over WiFi.
This I agree.

All kinds of crazy here. I will not desribe how stupid that is.

The pryce thing will not go in. Drop it.

12. There should be a Johto Battle Frontier where the Battle Tower is located in Crystal.
Yes this too is something I agree with.

13. The white rock concerning Shaymin ought to be located in Kanto in these remakes.
Well duh why mention something and put it to waste.

14. Return of Time of Day and Day/Night, and as such time based events.
A given?

15. The HM list should include Cut, Fly, Strength, Surf, Flash, Whirlpool, Waterfall, same as in GSC.
They take out flash cause its TM and it has to stick as a TM for compatibility so a 7 HM list is fine.

@The Seviper -
I doubt that any Pokémon you wish will follow you around, just the starter. Although that'd be really cool. XD!

@Todoroki Is -
I think Flash will be an HM, it would just turn back to a TM in DPPL.

Yes, I believe that other Pokémon following you was stated to be true on the scan as well.

@ The Seviper, you make some interesting points, but Todoroki got me covered on most of it.
