FireRed hack: [HotM Feb. 2011] Pokémon Grey [Beta 1 Released]

Wow Alex, nice job with the scripts. Awesome. I liked Team Rocket, they seemed dangerous. At last a good hack. Ask Harry to change the name of the thread so it indicates the release. ;)
I'm very font of this hack, but I noticed some things you could improve/fix:

Music 1- Six years ago (boat music kinda doesn't fit)
Music 2- When mom's in front of the statue (Should music change; the moment is supposedly touching, the happy music of the town)
Text Mistakes- Apostrophes, capitals, (Aide, Man with poliwhirl, Ray/Alice, Rocket) -Also, change "Your" to "You are". Sounds better.
Text- Old lady "I don't suppose you've seen Ray?" (Yeah,

Text- Rival before Oakwood (Received* not recieved)
Visual- flower animation
General- very easy lvling, Rare Pokemon

Updates:

It's that time again... Update time! Yay...

So what have I got to show you today?
Well some new graphics and some 5th Gen Pokémon.

I'll talk first about the new graphics as they aren't set in stone yet, it depends on your feedback towards them.

To allow you to make a fair comparison here is the graphics before the change:

And here are the new ones, Credit to Master Of Puppets I believe:

Please read the bottom of this post before posting about the tiles.

So let me know which one you prefer, In the end I might just release 2 versions of beta 1.0 with different graphics to allow people to choose.

As for the 5th Gen Pokémon they are:

These two will be playing a crucial role in Pokémon Grey, but more of that later. Obviously once I find out more english information about this pair I will change the dex data and names. :)

After much consideration I have decided to scrap the new graphics and keep the old ones.
This is down to several reasons including mine and other members opinions.
I would just like to take this space to thank Ray Maverick for taking the time to insert the new graphics.
Without him the option wouldn't of even been available.
He truly is an asset to this hack, thanks Ray. :)

I have the old and new in different copies of the rom, so I can easily change pals and have a mess around.

Lol, I've had a completely different response on a different forum, everyone there prefered the old graphics.
I shall take a look into it, do a bit of palette swapping, talk to my mapper and see what we think.
I think it would be safe to say, the old graphics will be in Beta 1.0.
And if there is a new look coming, it will show it's face in beta 2.0.

BARON is not the correct work in this circumstance.

As you can see BARREN is the right word this time round. :)

I've gotta admit I really don't like fakemon, especially any I could make.
They generally look terrible with a few exceptions. :)

Don't worry, I realised a while back that Baron was a typo so in game they all say Barren which is correct.
Pokémon Grey's first beta is over 50% complete
I've had testers test what I've done and there happy with it so it's just a case of scripting the rest.
As for why I use FireRed, its due to many reasons:

- I like the Overworlds.
- I like the help menu. (lol what?).
- I like the intro with the professor.
- JPAN's engine runs on it.
- I know how to make real time events on it.
- There is many others.

At this moment in time I prefer FireRed.
Oh and call me Astar. :)

There are three things I will change later that show up in this video.

1. It says SHIFT instead of shift in the Pokemon party menu.
2. The fadescreen occurs to quickly for my taste.
3. The admin should face left at the beginning.

Seriously, I could kick myself for making those errors.
I'm just too tired right now to fix them and make the video all over again tonight.

If you see any bugs let me know.

To be honest, you can insert ALL FR of the OWs in Pokemon Ruby or Emerald.
The Help Menu is basically useless - I doubt that many people would even try using the Menu...

Ok, so my reasons did suck...
I thought of them off the top of my head without thinking.
There are many reasons why I prefer FireRed which I could of used.
Help Menu? What was I thinking...Anyway.
In the past I have hacked all the 3rd Generation games and in my honest opinion I'm in my comfort zone with FireRed.
It has everything I want my hack to do currently :)

As for the other part, thank you...
I don't plan on quitting. :)

News:

I haven't done any hacking tonight (Boo!)... :(
But I have updated the first thread (And?). :D
It now contains a fixed video of the Team Rocket event.
It also contains some smexy Fan Art made by myself.
The Fan Art part of the thread is public meaning anyone who wants to, can contribute if it meets a set requirement.
