What about quality posts? Nobody seems to care about them nowadays! D:
The post club...beware, the mail man is coming for you! D:
The first rule of Post Club is: You do not talk about Post Club
You know, like nunchaku posts, bow hunting posts, computer hacking posts. Girls only like guys who have great posts.
I am posts!!!!
The worst part is that newer Maker versions have long since abandoned the idea of using Ruby as a scripting language. Meanwhile fangame creators are stuck using RMXP which at this point is just horrendously outdated. I know an indy developer who tried to create their own game in RMXP. At some point they stopped bothering and switched to Unity. I'm not saying that Unity is a great engine (it has so many issues), but at least it's better than RPG Maker in so many ways. Sure, you need to know your C# and whatever else they may have put in there, but at least it's a lot more flexible and optimized. RPG Maker is so unoptimized, it's not even funny. RM2k still best, though! So I'm going to share a thought.
Currently, I'm making a fangame. Not a ROM hack though, I never liked them. I'm fed up of Kanto. I prefer RPG Maker + Pokémon Essentials, because I want to make a different game. Give me a minute, I have to flip my pancakes.
Pokémon Essentials is an awesome framework, it really is. It implements many things in Pokémon, and as it is mainly a library of scripts, it is easy to implement new functionalities by making plugins. With the help of Lucidious (great coder btw), I made ZUD, a plugin that adds Z-moves, Ultra-Burst and Dynamax. Give me a minute, another pancake flip.
The problem is, Essentials version management is a mess. V16 is incompatible with V17, V17 is highly incompatible with V18 in terms of battles and kinda compatible in terms of the rest, and V18 is incompatible with V19, that was released just yesterday. I studied computer science at the uni, and I've never heard of any programming language, or any library, that has so many versions (pancake flip) and so many incompatible versions. The first example that comes to mind is Python, as version 2 and version 3 both coexist. However, not so many things changed and if you're moderately smart, you can adapt any code for version 2 to version 3.
Hmmm, I have more pastry than I need for one pancake, but not enough for two... Maybe I'll make two very small pancakes.
But the problem now, is that we have four versions of Essentials that coexist, each version has its own plugins. So now people will choose their versions of Essentials based on the plugins they most want, but of course, most plugins are not available in every version of Essentials... ZUD (my plugin) is available only for v18.1 and it requires Gen 8 data. And now, V19 doesn't contain Gen 8 data anymore, I really don't understand why.
My pancakes are ready.
But you know what bothers me the most? I MISCLICKED AGAIN ON THIS THREAD.
How about this topic?Ok... I know zero about whatever you lot are talking about 😅
How about this topic?
Carpe diem. Seize the post, boys.
I knew it! Glad I brought it up? :)Oh! This topic I know lots about 😁
