If you were allowed to choose your own three Starters for a new region (from existing Pokemon), what would they be?

Alright, suppose you are given the task of selecting three Starter Pokemon for a new region (from existing Pokemon), which three would you choose & why?

While choosing Starters there are a few rules to follow:-
    1. Only Basic, 1st Stage Pokemon are allowed (except Pikachu, as its already a Starter in one of the Main Games (Pokemon Yellow).
    2. NO Legendaries allowed (that includes "mythical" Pokemon).
    3. The Starters need not necessarily be from the 19 existing ones, in the games, but you CAN choose from them if you want.
    4. All three chosen Starters must either follow the strong against one, weak against the other pattern or must be neutral against each other, just to keep the balance of the game.

I would go with Magby, Elekid, and... Duskull. They have a few similarities, which I believe will help them make a good match-up. One similarity would be is that, to evolve into their final stage, they're required to be traded with a friend by holding an item. They aren't weak against each other, per se, but they're definitely neutral.

I'll say Flabebe, Timburr, and Aron. It works balance-wise because Fairy-->Fighting--->Steel--->Fairy, they're all pretty cool Pokes with cool evolutions, and I think they're pretty well-balanced in terms of stats.

I didn't realize that Fairy > Steel > Fighting created a new triangle! :o Could this be our new starter typrs in the future? No, not saying Gen 7 in particular. But I really can see the possibility of it becoming a reality.

Ahem. My answer to the topic is Azurill (Fairy), Machop (Fighting), Magnemite (Steel), following Sopheria's trend!~

I like all the baby Pokes in people's choices! Starting the game with a baby Pokemon seems like it'd be fun ^^

Though I'm not sure how likely it is, I agree that it'd be pretty neat to see a later generation break away from the standard and use a different set of types for the starters. Starting the game as a fairy or a steel type would make me so happy!

Fairy > Fighting > Steel, nice one, but the problem with that trio is, Steel is Neutral against Fighting.

Something like Fighting ---> Rock ---> Flying forms a more perfect trio, maybe a Trio like:-
    Machop ---> Geodude ---> Pidgey

At least that would be a break from the regular Grass - Fire - Water Starters, but I don't think that trio of Starters is ever gonna change :P, so that's exactly what the choices are gonna be in Gen 7 I'd guess.

Thanks for pointing out, but hey, you never know they might alter it someday! 3 years ago, Dark and Ghost moves were not effective against Steel type! ^^

Growlithe, Turtwig, and Arc- Umm, Probably Poliwag. I can see the problems with tons of pokemon people are choosing, namely evolution level or trade/item (as Growlithe)

    Poliwag, Litwick and Oddish.

3 stage Pokemon all that evolve via stone.

If only Litwick had a branched evolution and evolved with a fire stone and it would be perfect

I'd like to have Eevee as the sole starter in any game, because it has a huge variety of evolutions type-wise. But following the traditional three starter theme, I'd pick Abra, Machop and... uh, Sandile I guess, to fit in with the three-stage thing going on. Seedot isn't a Dark type until it evolves, and Larvitar and Deino are pseudo-legends. Alternate substitutes for Sandile would be Zoroark, Mightyena or Liepard, for the pure typing.
