"I'll battle the trainers here, but avoid these ones to stay around this level..."

i try to, although i may have skipped a few in bdsp due to being way too overleveled for them .-. but in most other pokemon games, i make it a habit to battle as many trainers as i can!

Gotta crush every trainer's dreams under my feet 😈

So yes, I do. I skip nobody.
In gym's with quizzes I always answer wrongly just so I can stomp everyone in there =D

I always battle trainers as much as a I can so I never missed few levels or go below the gym's requirement as well good way to get lots of money when you need more pokeballs or recovery items

Fought all trainers previously. Began to watch levels after playing with level limits in challenge runs, even in casual playthroughs.

Example: Sword casual playthrough. Hunted down every trainer at the start of the game. Snuck through routes around the seventh gym.

Seems to get punished for this, though. Wound up very underleveled against Leon in Sword and especially Ultra Necrozma in Ultra Sun. Blames poor design choices here. Makes the trainers too weak relative to the Champion (or other major threat). Emerged again in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl too, evidently. Why is Aaron's ace at level 57, but Cynthia's at level 66?

Pretty much me! Not just for money/exp though, but also because I don't like missing out on content, especially nowadays when Pokémon games are more expensive than before they were on Switch.

I had two Pokémon eras basically.

In my childhood, I used to battle everyone and didn't pay attention to levels. In my "Revival" era when I came back to Pokémon after several years, I started doing all my playthroughs with some basic rules aiming to make the games more challenging, and not overlevelling was of course one of them so yeah, sometimes I do avoid some trainers to prevent exceeding the level cap.

What annoys me is the stupid level gap in Gen 1-4 Elite Fours (10+ levels difference between first E4 and Champion) so in those cases I try to average or, when possible, get into the E4 at the lowest then use rare candies to adjust levels in between battles.

Especially in certain rom hacks and fan games, I had to skip quite a few trainer battles. I remember in Gaia skipping like literally every skippable trainer in the last villain event and the Victory Road.

This is why battling trainers even re-battling them with vs seeker is important to get some income and exp, when you got sufficient gym badges but lack of funds for recovery items (full restores and max potions) you feel the pokemon league just wreck you badly if ill-prepared. I also don't want to missed much content

I fight everybody, but when I get overleveled I start skipping trainer classes I find boring. Such as Ninja Boy's and Bug Catchers.
