I definitelty agree with you!! One should try to reach their goals and be happy (:
You are not the only one, i switched careers as well Vanille, so welcome to the club :P

I find that a lot of my friends are always complaining about their career choice because most of them are in the mathematics or accounting field XD I always ask people whether they actually like what they're doing, and the answer these days is 'no' D: Wonder why that could be...Thankfully my parents were supportive of my decision to change; psychology isn't something you can easily have a decent job with, especially with only a bachelor's degree.

I agree, i guess people prefer to go for "safe" jobs these days, understandable though...
Its not easy to follow a dream if you cant be sure if that dream will be enough to make a living :/

I've asked this before, and I keep getting accounting as my answer, but what jobs can a math major have o.o

First thing that comes to mind is a math professor XD You probably have to specialize in something in order to make your Math degree actually count...One of my friends is looking into finance, others want to go into actuary, etc.

If you want to combine math and finance, then combine math and finance. I don't know how relevant the more theory-intensive aspects of math are to accounting and finance and other business-y sectors.

And just reading what actuaries do on wikipedia tells me that it's a pretty badass job.

Getting into actuary seems like hard work D: You have to do more exams outside of the ones you do while you're actually in school, but you make damn good money once you're done!

My program of study is computer science, but I'm in boring gen ed courses right now since it's only my first semester in college. I plan to move onto programming though later on in my major.

Just giving you a heads up. Once you get into more specific courses, it gets tough.

Who knows though, maybe your college is much more lenient.

A lot of things!

One of the most versatile kind of things they can work as is as mathematical model creators. From models for extracting oil to models to calculate/count animal/plant populations, mathematical models are needed all the time and in almost every field you can imagine.

Nobody likes accounting. Nobody. They doing it for the money, I swear XD I only took one accounting course in university because it was mandatory for the Arts & Business program, and I absolutely hated it.

Ya its a boring job but I can't think of a successful company who doesn't have an accountant lol. Sounds cool sheep where is this so said vacation taking place?

I took an accounting course in high school, and I actually liked it :) It's probably because I'm like a math fanatic. But I'd probably get tired of it very quickly if I had to do it for a living. Learning about it was the fun part, doing it was boring.

Sweet never been to Rhode Island been to a lot of the states though my two favorite places to go so far are Tennessee and Florida. Going on a cruise the end of this year hopefully that will be fun never been on one.
