Ahh, I actually had my eye on the special pokemon X and Y 3DS for my birthday but it was too late and missed out when my parents got around to giving out ideas to people so I got a dark blue 3DS XL which is pretty cool.

I may get a sticker for it one day, I think it's called a cell sticker or something? I see them advertise everywhere on Etsy and Storenvy.

I'm still waiting for them to come out with a nice pink 3DS. :( Asia got the hot pink one and around the same time we got... another pale pink one.

My 3DS is the boring misty pink but it's Japanese so I've been interested in buying a North American 3DS for years now. The moment they give us a nice pink, I'll be all over it (even if it's a 2DS) but until then, I can't really justify buying a second 3DS if it's not a colour I absolutely adore because I already settled on the misty pink back when I got my first one.
are there any real discernible differences with getting a Japanese 3DS? I imagine it plays games alright. I don't know anything about region lock and stuff so I'm a bit curious.

I bought an Aqua Blue 3DS at the local game shop. Had it on layaway for a month and was able to pay it full. I didn't go for an XL because I actually liked that color.

Region lock. You can only play Japanese games and access the Japanese eShop on a Japanese 3DS. Same with a North American 3DS and North American games.

I import games because I'm too antsy to wait for localization and it's a good way to keep up my Japanese, so I'm fine with only having a Japanese 3DS... but sometimes I just wanna play games in English and support the localization. I can't do that because Nintendo decided to region lock. I'd probably have 2 or 3 times the number of 3DS games if the lock didn't exist, but alas... :/

Got my 3DS close aroud launch it was a choice between Aqua blue or Crimson Red. I got the red one in the end and find it more attractive looking than the blue one which seems a bit plain

I think I'm the only one here without a 3DS :/

Then you should change that! 3DS is the best handheld on the market right now. The only one that holds a candle to it past or present is GBA in my opinion.

Really? I still think the original DS was the best handheld ever. It had the widest selection of quality games I've ever seen on a console... and no region locking, at least for the earlier models. :P (And there were a lot of flashcarts for it that were really easy to use, which didn't hurt.)

Though I suppose the earlier DSes also doubled as GBAs and current 3DSes, double as DSes...

Completely different consoles. The Vita isn't really backwards compatible (although some PSP games, if bought on the PSN digital store, can be downloaded and played on the Vita), though, so while it's kind of comparable to DS vs 3DS in that they're completely different consoles, there's not as much last-gen overlap.

I love my Vita. I'm so glad I've had a chance to play it more now that FFX/X-2 HD came out.

I think the original DS library is a bit of a mixed bag. There's some great games, but... a lot of the games I have I don't really plan on replaying anytime soon. Too many 'meh' / forgettable games that didn't leave a lasting impression even if they were fun. My DS spent a lot of time as a GBA replay machine lol

I'm enjoying my 3DS a lot

I can't even with how gorgeous that game is on the Vita. I picked the Vita version specifically because I thought the screen would really do it justice, and I was not wrong at all.

My roommate got the PS3 version and the Vita version looks a lot better. The character models look way better, the colours aren't as washed out, and it just looks so phenomenal. It looks like they put a lot more care into the Vita port than the PS3 one.

I still don't own a Vita, but I've always wanted to try to save up for one.

I think of all the times a friend of mine have said that they're a waste a money, and have no good games, and then I see conversations like this about them and just sob quietly. I think they'd be entirely worth the money. Even the Persona 4 game, who's graphics aren't supposed to be as amped as FF games, still looks much better on Vita in comparison to the PS2 version. .w.

I've never had anything to do with the PlayStation other than Burnout on my dad's PS2 and a dodgeball game my sister and I played on the PS1. :>

I really prefer PC games and Nintendo consoles overall, mainly because of the workability of the former and Pokémon for the latter. :3

Also, drinking these two Monsters is really making me tired… :(

Aaah, I also love PC games, mainly MMOs!

I also really enjoy my 3DS, buuuut there's a few games that my friends and me really looked forward to that ended up being for the Vita. After a while I feel like I give up on wanting to play them, but all my friends are telling me about them. Argh. xD;

I don't really know what type of console I've found to be the best for myself since I'm always swapping myself from Portal 2 to Kingdom Hearts and many other games. To be honest, I've always been the one slightly addicted to the look of pixel games but it mostly depends what I like there and then.

I haven't got many games recently because of how much cash it costs these days...
