Is there still hope for Luvdisc?

    why doesn't Game Freak make it the pre-evolution of alomomola? it has baby pokemon stats and yet it has no evolution
     
    Believes in Luvdisc's day to shine. Doubts retconning Luvdisc to be a pre-evolution of Alomomola. Remembers no instance of that sort so far. Would be strange with the current stats, also.
    Base stats (Luvdisc -> Alomomola)
    Hitpoints: 43 -> 165
    Attack: 30 -> 75
    Defense: 55 -> 80
    Special Attack: 40 -> 40
    Special Defense: 65 -> 45
    Speed: 97 -> 65

    Evolves from a Pokemon reliant on Speed to a Pokemon...not. Created evolutions that lose stats before. Seems a bit much with the stats as-is.

    Appears willing to help struggling Pokemon in recent generations via regional forms, gimmicks, and stat boosts, however. Boosted the likes of Farfetch'd, Corsola, and Qwilfish. Could see Spanish Luvdisc in the new generation.
     
    Uhhhh... I don't have much hope for Luvdisc to be anything other than a gimmick Pokémon, in the same vein as Unown, Delibird and Chatot. I understand every Mon is someone's favourite, but Luvdisc was created to showcase the Heart Scale, nothing else. I'd love if they actually made it useful; I just don't think it's in Game Freak's mind at the moment.
     
    I wouldn't say no to a regional Luvdisc with a new evolution =3
    I think a regional form is pretty much the only thing it can hope for.
     
    What I've always wanted is for Luvdisc to evolve into a newly introduced pokemon, and then that newly introduced pokemon to evolve into Alomomola. This would involve no retconning whatsoever, and would be a really cool way to introduce an evolutionary line.

    It would sorta be the inverse of when Roselia had Budew and Roserade introduced in Generation IV.

    Luvdisc is a discus fish. Have it evolve into a Butterfly Fish. It then evolves into a sunfish, Alomomola.
     
    If they give it an evolution, then I'm sure there's still hope for the Pokemon. But, I don't know. Honestly, it really depends on what happens in Gen 9.
     
    at this post i've accepted luvdisc's situation for what it is - a gimmick pokemon that'll probably never have an evolution - so i have very little if any hopes at all of Game Freak doing anything about it for better or worse. i guess for some people it's one more forgettable pokemon of many that are mostly unimpressive. :c
     
    Aren't they based off of two different things? The kissing fish for Luvdisc and ocean sunfish for Alomomola. Both pink but still based on different fish. I can understand why they'd look a little similar but were still left different enough not to have Luvdisc evolve into Alomomola. Do think poor Luvdisc needs a big buff though, or at least something to make it more viable. mega luvdisc ftw
