June 2025 Mini Archipelago (In progress)

I seem to be a touch late. Regardless, I looked into running SM again, but after seeing all the psycho hard mode randomization options and not being in the mental place to try and figure out what even half of those mean, I just passed on it this time. So it'll only be Z1 and Prime for me this time. Almost everything in Prime is vanilla this run, with 1 exception. Elevator randomizer. If doing this one option still breaks seed gen into having missile launcher right at the start, then I guess I'll just perma run true vanilla. *shrug*
While I could try finding another short game for this, I don't really feel like troubleshooting setup right now, so these two will do. Also random Triforce locations cause hell with it lol.
Considers you early still. Ends sign-ups in over 48 hours from now. Simply got a head start on test servers. Might as well put up another now.

Do you have the capability to disable elevator shuffle on your end or do I need to resend my file?
I do genuinely wish there was a 'no logic' setting for this, because I do not understand the point of letting the player shuffle something only for the generator to say 'no'.

Searched the Discord a little. Found this from hesto2 (the creator of the mod). Responded to something about finding a second missile launcher, technically. Addresses part of your thought, kind of.
Ah was able to track it down. There's certain starting locations that "lock" a given item to a location in order to make the seed completable. The default starting location would fail one out of every ~100 or so times if it occasionaly didn't put a missile launcher on hive totem so I forced that one there but it still places an extra. I'll get this fixed soon 🔥 , thank you for the report!

Does not really explain why the option remains, though.

Edit: Moved Morph Ball off of Plated Beetle, on the plus side.

So there's a second one in the seed somewhere? If that's the case, then I'll just wait until I get that one to use missiles (unless it's locked to missiles) I really hope that issue is fixed soon, though. Makes me not want to run Prime as often cause it doesn't feel like 'true random' to me.
Edit: I also can't seem to get Prime working... I don't recall all the steps exactly to be fair, but even then it says it doesn't recognize the AP patch file regardless.
(Z1 works fine as usual)

Kind of understands. Tried out the Chrono Trigger: Jets of Time randomizer. (Released a new version pretty recently.) Kept largely default settings. Placed progression items (not necessarily for Chrono Trigger) in the same spots. Made most other checks pretty pointless. (Found a setting to change that, fortunately.)

To run the patch:
1. Make sure you have the APWorld still. Should be in the custom_worlds folder, most likely. Is still on v0.4.9 for Metroid Prime [here], the same as the last Archipelago.

2. Run ArchipelagoLauncher.exe in your main Archipelago folder. Click "Open Patch File" on the left-hand side. Find the patch file and select it. Will probably not ask you for the Metroid Prime .iso file. (Ought to have that set up from before.) Should generate a new .iso file, which is the patched game.

(Note: May be able to bypass ArchipelagoLauncher and just double-click the patch file itself.)

3. Run the patched game (if it is not already going).

4. Connect to the Archipelago server in the client. Probably asks for your slot name when you try to connect. Type that in.

I had a moment playing Prime where I forgot to connect something properly and it meant I wasn't giving/receiving checks to the server despite getting them in-game.
It's not a big issue, it's just something that's worth checking while you're already doing your test, just in case.

In that case, since there's nothing that can currently be done about it anyway, can you please turn random elevators back on, then? At least it might make actually getting to missiles take a bit more work.

This was the step I was missing lol. I forgot that the file itself doesn't work with the emu and it instead is ran through the AP menu first. I got it booted up and all's good.

Ref !release - rather than just blanket disabling it for everyone, could we just have it so people that don't want to can choose to not use it when they're done? I'm not really for it as a whole as I want to just release everything when finished and would rather not have items held hostage because someone wants to fully finish a game, but at least then people that want to can just release theirs!
 
Closes sign-ups in under 24 hours from this post (about 23 hours 10 minutes, more exactly). Accepts YAMLs after the deadline, for the record. (Ideally gets that in before the deadline too. Might be able to start right when sign-ups close.) Needs some kind of interest before the end of sign-ups, at minimum, such as in the above post.

Will switch !release back to goal. Seems largely mixed to indifferent overall on it. Adds to not be pressured to !release right after reaching the goal. Might do that for Crystal.
 
Alright, I got my two YAMLs all set up! I generated a game with it and got 476 checks (375 for OW, 101 for RW).

Make sure to use the lastest stable release, not the pre-release APWorld for Rain World

Hey @Devalue can I turn on Flowersanity for Rain World (change false to true)?

It should at most add 25 more checks (as there are only 25 flowers in the vanilla game but flowers are counted per room not per flower, so it could be less that that), putting me at 501 locations.
I just thought it'd be more fun to have more physical checks I can get in the middle of a cycle (a lot of major checks are slow overall, so a few easy faster ones are nice, and it's just at the limit anyway)

Oh, is there a beta version of Red/Blue? Probably makes sense to update to the newest version. Will be creating a new YAML anyways.

Edit: Downloaded the Beta v2 in the pinned messages. Released this on the 10th.
 
Thanks for including my patch files, I was actually gonna ask to do a test again today if sign-ups weren't immediately closing, just to make sure. Both of my games still work fine, nothing has changed.
