Do you prefer to use a Mouse and Keyboard or a Controller when playing games?

I'm expecting a lot of people to say "It depends."

Since Dualshock 4 became a thing, I can't play with anything else.

Everything that is in first person or something like point and click with a keyboard and mouse, other things like platformers, visual novels and racegames with my 360 pad.

Depends what type of game I'm playing. I play MMORPGs with keyboard/mouse since I'm often typing at teams, and it's usually easier to aim or play using multiple skills with shortcuts and macros. Same with FPSs, like Borderlands - I prefer keyboard/mouse. Pretty sure Metroid Prime games would play very well this way too.

Platformers, JRPGs, games that require some few skills to be used at the same time (like Castlevania, LoZ, fighting games etc)... I tend to go for controllers.

    controllers > keyboard

Mainly because the controller is what I've grown up on, so I guess I'm just more familiar and comfortable with using a controller. even if I'm on a PC game like Counter Strike or playing StarWars Battlefront on my friend's massive PC then I will hook up a controller. I feel like it takes more skill to use a keyboard than a controller though.

It depends. It really does depend on the game...since I'm primarily PC, I use a keyboard, but if the game's controls can't be changed and their PC controls are terrible (I'm looking at you Dark Souls), then I'll use a controller.

I use controllers for two things. My Wii U, and games whose devs were to incompetent to format decent keyboard controls (Dark Souls, and that sort of thing).

Keyboards and Controllers are for scurbs. Real men and women use the Powerglove.

on Console: Right now I'm on an Arcade Stick. Playing anything with a Hori feels so good and it makes me feel more Japanese at home when playing fighting games or anything that requires a lot of movement.

On PC: I'm usually keen on using anything with a Keyboard, especially with a Pro-Gaming one like the ones i have (Black Widow), but PC ports of console games do require a controller of somesort so that I don't bust up my own expensive Black Widow for something like DMC or a DW game.

I mainly game on my pc, so I use my keyboard for everything. I tried hooking up a controller for Rocket League, but after a half hour of looking up why it wouldn't work, trying about five different solutions, and feeling like I just took a hammer to my head, I gave up. I'll keep using my keyboard, thanks.

I play mostly first person shooters, so the keyboard is an obvious choice.
A couple top-down/platformer games like Don't Starve, Tinertia and Ori and the Blind Forest I play with a controller.
I also started playing Pokémon ROMS with a controller recently. That's pretty fun.

Depends on the game honestly. I've seen some games that have had terrible keyboard support and mini-games/QTE/etc. are just a pain to do without a controller.

I'm not gonna be that guy and I'll say I GOT SO MUCH used to controllers since the last year. I want to try everything that is possible with my wireless Logitech pad. At the first time, some games were impossible for me and I had hard time, but after a while I got used to it.

A couple of years ago I would have easily chosen keyboard/mouse control, but with the rise of Indie games and cheap console ports alongside qith companies trying to make controllers more optimizd, I'm now in that position where I don't really care much about the input device anymore, as long as the controls themselves feel good while playing the game.

I always play with mouse and keyboard, controllers though that be on consoles and not PC or laptop it cramp out USB spaces

Basically echoing the majority of the thread at this point -- I, too, lean more toward mouse/keyboard.

Though I didn't lean quite so heavily until recently. My last board, the basic Black Widow, was a lot louder, had several sticky keys, the left shift and ctrl weren't always working, and it didn't have backlit keys. There were a lot of times that I just preferred a controller for ease of use, lol. But Mr. Boyfriend got me a new one a couple months ago as an early Christmas present, a Logitech G910. And that fixed all of those issues and then some, so now it takes a lot for me to want to plug in my MadCatz 360 pad. I've finally seen the light; I just needed a reliable board. :P

There's still a few cases where a controller is the better option, though. As previously mentioned, if the PC controls are shitty and/or can't be changed; or like with fighting games, I'd still rather have a D-pad.https://www.pokecommunity.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

I prefer controllers over keyboards. It's what I use for the majority of my gaming so I find it easier to adapt than using a keyboard. The buttons are .laid out better than a crammed keyboard with loads of keys when I only use a few.

I use a controller for everything since I grew up mostly playing console games and I've adapted to that style of playing.
