mods? never heard of them

Zeo said in another thread that he thought I was a mod lol

One year ago there was a recruitment for the fangame subforums. I wanted to apply, but changed my mind last minute because I wanted to focus on making my fangame before anything, plus I didn't want to learn the new versions of Essentials (v19, then v20) because I thought I would have to help users...
Turns out I installed LoL for the first time around that time, which put my fangame on pause anyway, and I still help people without knowing anything about the new versions of Essentials XD

I was almost certain you were a mod. I thought Rekoil was a mod too.

I've never applied and likely won't ever, but I like looking at the questions whenever an application springs up.

I just applied on a whim and got surprising results. As in: everyone was surprised at my application. xD
You handle that hammer with confidence and grace, it looks like you had moderation in your blood since the beginning! 🤔

Granted, there's one prerequisite that can deny even the most capable person from becoming mod. Though, it's less of a "person" one and more of a "technology" one. We do most discussing on Discord. So, if you don't have an account you can't really participate.

Finding this out had effectively shredded any tiny interest I may have had.

This will be a warped perspective as someone who deals with social anxiety, but I feel with Discord it's very hard to integrate into a service that people have used for years as a tightknit community. I'm not referring to specifically the PC Discord, but many online 'hang-outs' feel exclusive and trying to jump in quickly leads into feelings of being an outsider who doesn't belong.

I think I can relate... My main motive as I joined PC's forums and Discord server was to pose as a pokémon, and... after one week of testing the waters, I can't say I felt much welcomed on Discord server, nor compelled to remain active on it...

That's weird Gardevoir, seeing how active you are on the forum I would imagine you were also active on Discord 🤔

How many of you are on PC's Discord server? I am not ^^"

I'm on the server. But I never post there because group chats are scary. I don't know what it is with me and these general type of group chat rooms, though. I'm totally fine hanging out in "work" related group chats like the VPP one for example.

I guess I just don't know how to handle casual conversation? Doesn't help that I don't have that many interests to begin with and no life to speak of. So, what should I even talk about? ^^"
Like, it's fine when people talk about how excited they are about going to a different country and stuff. And sure I could be like "that's really cool". But ultimately you won't hear me say something like what normal people might say. In fact: I'd argue that if I where to participate in casual conversation then most of it would just be very toxic; like complaining about work all the time. <_<

Megan pretty much summed it up tbh.

I try my best but then drift into long periods of inactivity and hiding away because I am so scared of talking to people.

Forums are wonderful because I can chat and play games with people in completely different timezones 😊
