I learnt in school that 8 characters per password is a minimum for regular users. It's not really save by any means. But no criminal will waste enough effort to actually figure those out.
For companies the size is 12 characters. But given the advances in technology that might be outdated at this point, too.

For example, I learned that the double-authetification is pretty much easily bypassed. I don't want to give the details but some websites associate your phone number with your email address, and when such a database is leaked, it's easy to get a SIM card with the same number.

There's currently a scam wave going on. Basically people trying to extort money out of older people by impersonating as their children/grandchildren. :(
