Leaks/Rumors Discussion Thread

Spoiler:

According to this 4chan leak (which I analyzed in an earlier post) this is what they think the Psychic/Fairy Tapu guardian might look like.
That makes me think of the octopus lady from "The Little Mermaid." Speaking of octopi, has there been a pokemon based on an octopus or squid yet?

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Ursula there.

As for octopus and squid Pokemon, we have Octillery and the Inkay line respectively, even if the latter isn't a Water-type.

That's the name thank you. Can't believe I forgot about those pokemon

I'm not sure how I feel about these leaks. I mean, anyone could make a post like that, there's nothing credible in the post to prove we should pay attention to them.

Anyway I'm just going to hibernate until Sun & Moon comes out, I'm too hyped for this game and I don't wanna get attached to any more leaks 'cause I'd only be more disappointed if they're fake :p

I feel this new generation pre-release period is throwing way more leaks at us than previous games. That could just me what I think, though.

Nope, a lot of people think so as well (including me).

I guess the Nintendo Ninjas (and Mario) aren't really doing their jobs that well...

I usually like to read every leak, and when a new trailer or CoroCoro comes out I have been trying to make connections to any of the leaks. At least I easily wrote off that one Pokedex leak as fake when Sandygast and Palossand, as well as Stufful were revealed in CoroCoro because the leak in question didn't mention a Bewear pre-evo or any Ghost/Ground Pokemon.

Now I feel intrigued to want to discover another fake Pokedex leak and wait for a trailer to debunk it.

It seems like we started getting more "leaks" after some of the leaks were confirmed as true. Now people are primed to believe anything. Frankly I prefer the leaks that have some sort of picture. At least if it is fake it is more fun. My god, some of these pokedex leaks and gameplay rumors downright disconfirm themselves because of bad names, piggybacking off of fake leaks, wrong typing of pokemon already revealed, or are inconsistent with credible leaks.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as agreesive or mean. :s
No problem. :)

There's apparently a ghost leak that was posted before but got archived recently when the thread became dead. It says that the other three guardians are Tapu Haha, which is a Fire/Fairy Land Spirit Monkey, Tapu Pupuri, which is a Psychic/Fairy Land Spirit Butterfly, and Tapu Miyau, which is a Ghost/Fairy Land Spirit Cat. It also says that Rockruff has multiple evolutions based on the Z-Crystals, and the Alola Starters have gender-based final evolutions.

Guess that's another leak supporting my theory of the Tapu guardians sharing the same types as Oricorio's forms.

As for Rockruff, the stones on its collar do resemble the shape of Z-Crystals so it could be an interesting idea but the issue would be how the evolution would be executed. Having a different secondary type based on Z-Crystal means we could be seeing some new type combinations for Rock-types that haven't been made yet, and also returning some that haven't been seen outside of one evolution line, but still I'd wait for CoroCoro before I consider this real.

Alola starters' final evos being different based on gender is another interesting one since the only starters with gender differences are the Torchic line, as well as Meganium and Venusaur - and they were mostly minor differences, and 5th Gen started the move to more drastic gender differences, but two different final evos with different names based on gender is something we haven't seen outside of the Nidos. Guess this means the split evolutions rumor for the starters isn't dead yet.

See that's a split evolution I would actually love

I wonder how this would tie in with the secret shared with Rockruff and the starters? Is it merely that they have split evolutions or is it totally unrelated? Maybe we get a compatible z-crystal based on which starter we picked?

It's hard to think of how they would share a secret provided this rumor (but the secret might not even be related as we have mostly thought). But I do like the concepts for the tapus.

Well, it's already been shown that the starters don't have two different final evos, so... Probably fake.

I personally agree, since starters are supposed to have simple evolution paths and doing two gender-different Nido-esque final evos would be what I consider controversial, especially to people who are against changes to most traditions.

But it would make so much sense. The fire starters for gen 3-5 all look male so it would've made sense of the female looked more feminine

What if the secret shared is that rockruffs evolution depends on what starter you choose. Sort of how the first poochyena found through creeping in ORAS would have the egg move which was opposite of your starter only this time its the secondary type of the pokemon that changes.

I agree two different forms depending on gender or night/day as some speculate wouldn't be so unexpexted they already did it with meowstic where it basically had two completely different forms with different stats and different movesets and sharing the same dex number.

Starters are usually way more common as males, so it's understandable why most take a masculine route with the final evos' designs.
