Film Least favorite genres

I thought about this because I saw someone recommend Scary Movie 2 to another person. I generally like the Scary Movie franchise but I can't sit through this one because of the vast amount of gross-out humor. I just can't stand it, and I can't watch any movie that has it. The main reason being my weak stomach, but also because it's just nasty over all.

So I'm curious, is there a genre you can't stand? Why?

Never been in to romantic movies, whether they be dramas or comedies. I think a lot of them just feel too similar to me.

Romance and horror. I guess that's why (or because, not sure) they're my least favorite genres to write.

Can't say that I exactly dislike any genre in particular. Western/shootemups might be my least favorite, but even then there's some pretty good ones out there that make up for the landfill worth of trash tier westerns. I used to be really against romance movies, but as I got older they definitely grew on me. Kind of the same situation with musicals too - didn't like them as a young child but started going to plays and musicals downtown and changed my tune about them in my early teens.

I wouldn't say so, horror isn't the most "friendly" genre and not many like it.
There's even certain horror films that I won't watch, The Nun being one simply because the nun herself scares me.

I used to say horror but I have started finding horror movies interesting to watch once I got the stomach to sit through one! Plus horror movies are great with friends. I think for me, I have always struggled a lot with sci-fi movies for some reason. I think I'm just not too interested in the genre to have found one I've engaged with :(

It 100% should be, I'm seconding this statement!

In terms of other genres... well I'm in the same boat as aeternum really. There isn't anything in particular I will not watch, but in terms of what I've least enjoyed overall I guess then I'd probably go with something like romance. Mostly just because so many films follow the same generic formula for the genre and because that's all it they hinge on... nothing else in the film really can grip you.

I don't like stupid, crude or gross out humor. I just don't think it's funny, though it tries to be it ends up just cringey. I'd rather have sarcasm, surreal or some more creative humor.

While I am okay with horror films, I hate grisly slasher/torture flicks. I have no interest in porno flicks either. A film of another genre like romance or a drama that contains mature scenes with nudity or sexuality is fine, but that's as far as I go.

I like certain types of horror, but I really can't do ones that are just gore and jump scares for the sake of it. Slasher flicks, and sadistic / gory horror are not for me.

Films featuring certain types of assault make me feel very ill.

Anything vulgar.

I generally don't enjoy war movies, gangster films or westerns.

I love comedy, but gross out comedies are most definitely not my thing.

Slashers I don't mind as such, and body horror is amazing. However, stuff like Hostel got boring real fast after the novelty of the first film, because it starts to go overboard and into levels of obscene for no reason. It doesn't have the effect it should, just makes you feel gross watching it.

I really enjoy horror, but I don't think gore equates to scary at all. I think you can have a terrifying movie without gore. "Gore-Fest" horror is my least favorite genre. I want to watch something scary, not disgusting.

I'd argue that the scare element moreso goes with thriller films, as opposed to horror. That's how I classify it anyway, horror to me is the more gorey zombie etc. flicks. When done correctly I love it, but there's that fine line of just going overboard and being either comically stupid or outright obscene.

Romance. Romantic shows hinge on the presumption that you will become invested in the characters in some way. I just don't. The interactions are usually pretty predictable and unrealistic which makes it pretty boring.
