Chapter 3

Once the party is ready and properly packed, Lucario tells Sliggoo the intended desination and off they go. Apparently, the Cave of Blazes isn't too far off the swamp. Even though it's not far, the route isn't an easy one. Without a guide knowing his way around the marshes as if it was his own backyard, it's quite likely the group would have kept walking in circles in the swampy soil for days.
The path you take is a scenic one. That is, if you happen to be wildly interested in the many different species of swamp grass that grow around these parts. It seems The Swamp Lord himself is one of those rare people and tries to lighten the mood of travel through the dull land by telling mildly interesting stories.

After a journey of three days without trouble - as if all life in the marshes knows it shouldn't be messing with anybody notable enough to be in company of the very Lord of the swamps - the foliage starts to show a warmer hue of green and you are glad you can kiss the ground without the feeling you need to wash your mouth for two hours afterwards. All in a matter of speaking of course.
This is also where you say your goodbyes to Sliggoo. A short trek to the mountains is all that's between you and the Cave of Blazes, where the Fire Type Emblem is located.

As you stand in front of the mountain's edge, an ominous feeling gets its grasp on you. You are being watched, someone has been following you.


"It's too dangerous to go together," Lucario says. "If we fall into a battle, our uninvited guests will snatch that opportunity and force us to uphold two fronts at the same time. No, it's better to split up. Half of us must continue our mission to scout ahead for the cave entrance. The other half will need to keep watch at the mountain's foot. If you spot the miscreants that have been lurking around, show them no mercy! Understood?"

: I'll choose Option B since Rock Pokemon aren't my cup of tea and I'm no use against Flying Types except when using my Ice Cream. I think I might have better luck against the group in option B, although watch it be full of Ground types(which also give me issues). Therefore Mozilla chooses option B to stand guard.

As for everyone else, it's up to you but I think our Electric, Ground, Steel and Water Types should Press onward in Option A. Therefore our teams would be something like so:

I think you should get Shuckle because if there's any Treasure, it's likely on your map and not ours. Furthermore, should any of our Allies return, they'll likely be added to Team B as reinforcements since we're at the base of the mountain path. Also, I'm sure Mr.Pansear is sure to appear again. What does the juice shop do again?

Basically, it's a cleric-like guy who joins the company and can travel along with either party. Per battle, he has four heals at his disposal in the form of Berry Juices, two of which heal 50 HP and two that cure all status ailments and heal 10 HP. :)
He has some moves in his arsenal as well, but as Kecleon put it "He is one hell of a coward, so don't expect any help actually bringing down the enemies from this guy."

So Shuckle is a cleric like I thought, although I suspected he did more than just have 4 heals at his disposal. Figure that if Rinnia comes back, she can join Team B at the foot of the mountain so that Shuckle can lend a hand with those going up. Furthermore, the bulk of the Sitrus Berries are with Team B anyway if we adopt the teams I suggested. Mags(Mago) and WooWoo are the only ones with HP Berries from Expert Pack in Team A while Susato, Alex, Meta and Mercy have the rest in Team B. We also have Lily and Freesia who can recover HP via Absorb/Black Sludge respectively. Granted Felix and Coral have leftover Oran Berries(along with lots of status ailment Berries), it would still behoove Team A to take Shuckle when Team B has the bulk of the recovery Berries and Susato to heal Status ailments. Plus if any of our AWOL compatriots return, they're likely to be added to Team B seeing as we're at the foot of the Mountain. I mean sure they can opt to rush to Team A's aid but it'll take time.
