I would be more concerned about how prompt Christos was with getting the attention off of himself and onto someone else.

Yeah not joining the Syn bandwagon even when I want to kill him for not giving Blue Milotic to me

I'm not taking the chance of a suicide-bomber killing me. Bard won't die even if I vote for him so eh, no harm done.
 
Even though Syn's claim is probably a lie, I'm still going to take precaution and not vote for him on the possibility of a doubt.
