The Freelance Career

The simplest way to play the game; it's exactly what it sounds like.
You'll have no Boss to do things for and no HQ to report back to - you're just a lone Trainer trying to make a name for themselves.
If you'd like to play the game the way you'd play a normal Pok?mon game, with absolutely no loyalties to anyone but yourself, this is the path best suited to you!

The Researcher Career

Join Avlar's Research team and become a Pok?mon Researcher!
You'll be doing various missions like field work or collecting data for your Pok?dex, and you'll even be whisked away to exclusive unexplored areas.
Do you have what it takes to work your way up to become a Pok?mon Professor?

The Criminal Career

A new Gang has arrived in Avlar and they're causing all kinds of problems in the region with their antics.
Stealing Pok?mon? Mugging people? Making mischievious plans? All part of your job, and the Gang will become your family.
If you always preferred playing on the side of the bad guys, this is the Career for you!

The Seeker Career

Seekers are a prestigious (or pretentious, depending on who you ask) group of famous Trainers.
Their main objective is to own as many rare or even Legendary Pok?mon as they can to further their reputation and uphold their self-proclaimed "Elite" status.
If you love hunting for rare Pok?mon, this is the path you'll like the most.

The Journalist Career (new!)

Employees of the Avlarian TV Station have a reputation for being gossip-hungry and will do anything to get a good story.
As a Journalist, your job is to hunt down all the well-known Trainers of the land to get insider info, and you'll get invites to all kinds of events for "work".
Who's to say you won't become more famous than the Trainers you're chasing along the way, though?

The Police Career (new!)

With so much going on in the region, there's no rest for the poor Officers at the Avlar Police Department.
Fighting crime, managing the Prison (or sending people there!), and detective work are just some of the things you'll get up to.
Will you be one of those cops who "turns a blind eye" to crime? Or will you abuse your position of authority to the point of hilarity for your own amusement? It's up to you!

The Ranger Career (new!)

Many Trainers have high hopes of joining the well-respected Ranger Union of Avlar.
After your intitial Academy-style training, your duties will involve protecting endangered Pok?mon, taking care of the environment and helping the needy.
This Career will be your first choice if you want the mission-based gameplay, but without the "organisation" feel.

In addition to your chosen main Career, you can also take a Side-Career later in the game; these are "unlocked" through meeting certain conditions.
As with main Careers, you can only choose one! I am taking suggestions for Side-Careers for the remake, as the SCs here are the same as the original.

The Gym Leader Side-Career

Have you ever dreamed of running your very own Pok?mon Gym? Now you can!
Defeating each of the eight Avlarian Gyms will prove you have what it takes.
You'll start off running the first Gym and work your way up until you become the final Gym Leader of the region!

The Breeder Side-Career

Many Trainers take their Pok?mon to the qualified members of staff at the Pok?mon Breeding Organisation.
Some people breed Pok?mon for egg moves, IVs and more - you'll be doing it professionally!
If you're one who has the patience to hatch every Egg you can get your hands on, you'll have fun as a Breeder.

The careers sound fantastic! I'm really excited for one in particular (won't say as it's a new one).

Thanks for the support, guys! In response to your suggestion, that was one of the reasons I considered using Emerald as a base, but I couldn't build a whole game around it. It'd be a good Side-Career, but I couldn't justify using a base I'm not used to for such a small portion of the game. =(

I was a big fan of this thread before it was canceled and I gotta say, the changes just displayed in the typing and reading through the thread, I really have to applaud you. I feel like, once this is released, this is going to be an amazing one. I have high hopes! :)

Hey, all! I have an unexpected day off from work today (woohoo!) and since I'm in a ridiculously good mood I thought I'd post some more maps =) sorry for the lack of actual screenies, I want to get the whole thing mapped before I do anything else. That way if *touches wood* I ever had to restart, I've got the region mapped out for me =)

Here's town/city number 6, Havabora Beach. It's almost done, spare some shadow errors and minor details!

Next up is Verlume Villas, the revamped edition, as well as Lord Grey's Estate.

The Estate

Contains Lord Grey's mansion, the pub, and the Science Centre. And the same Porygon statue from the first MoT because I'm too lazy to make a better one =P

The City

Apart from being the centre of some main events, it's a fairly uninteresting town - some Careers will spend more time here than others! For example, one of these is mansions belongs to Loxar; it's mainly Gang Members who get to hang out here. Another of the mansions is exclusive to Freelancers, no player of any other Career can enter. The third mansion is public, and will contain a Mart so you can still buy supplies while you're there. Gym number 6 is here, too.

I feel as if I make heavy use of the mountain tile, fences or some sort of restriction in my city maps, so I've tried to make these ones a bit more open.

I really like these new maps. I think what's really helping this remake is that the new tiles that have been inserted goes really well with your plans for the region and hack in general. I also love the new careers that you have added, I'm really struggling to figure out which main career I'm going to pick out already. Can't wait to replay this hack six times I guess! lol
I can't wait to see more of this hack as it is being developed. :)

Phew! I've spent just over a week mapping the forest of the region. Really proud of it and happy it's done! I don't even want to know how many hours I put into it XD The actual path to connect the two cities is short, but the forest itself is vast, with lots of places to explore. I wanted to create an enchanted-woods feel with lots of history.

Example that doesn't spoil anything: mini stone circle!

Rangers get what is arguably the most picturesque HQ in the game! The centuries-old building is used for the Ranger Union, hidden away at the top of the forest.
Each Career will have its own exclusive area, besides their HQ, to visit (for example, in the old version only Researchers were allowed to go to New Bora).
In the Rangers' case, they get access to a "protected" area of the forest, where endangered species and ancient ruins can be found. Part of your job is to keep the area free from trespassers!

I was going to use this place in Ages of Faith as well, since back in that time period it would have been a church of some kind.

This is still kinda up in the air tbh, as I have two other regions besides this one planned in the MoT-verse. The Middle Eastern inspired region from Ages of Faith is the one I'd ideally like to send you all to after the Tournament, not because I already have the maps or anything, but since it's so large I don't know if I'll be able to fit it all in haha.
