Is anyone actually that daring to make a team full of lets say Rock Type and use just a team of that Type to battle their way through the story? Or do we all do the same thing and have a team of various Pokemon Types?

I've never had a mono type team before. I always had a balanced team. Though it would be kinda cool to have a mono team because I would feel like a gym leader.

I really want to try this, I've just never had the motivation to actually start a new game and base my team upon one single type.

Yes, I have, several times in fact. That's why we have the Monotype challenge thread! I've done a couple on White 2 and several on X and Y, and it makes you get strategic when you're presented with foes that could provide threats to your team based on their typings.

I just played through FireRed with a monotype Poison-type team, it was pretty fun. I enjoy those challenges, they make it a lot more interesting.

I have never tried a full Monotype, though I do admit that I like to do pseudo-monotypes with my favorite type, Dragon. This includes Pokemon that look like Dragons (Charizard before XY) but may not have the type aspect. I think I will try a real Monotype next time I play a Pokemon game, probably with Bug or some other that I'm not too found of, just for fun. (how many times did I just say type?)

Usually, my teams have various types of Pokémon. Of all these team, I would say my best one would be consisting of Togekiss, Gyarados, Dusknoir, Breloom, Cresselia, and Brongzong. It was pretty well-balanced; Bronzong, Cresselia, and Dusknoir were playing as walls, and Gyarados, Breloom, and Togekiss were more for the offensive side of things. When put together as a group, they were able to go up against more or less anybody.

As far as mono-type teams go, thus far, I've tried only about two. Can't remember what my first one was, but as for second, it was fire, which carried Ninetales, Heatran, Chandelure, Charizard, Rotom-Heat, and Emboar. It wasn't so bad, really; if you ask me, it was actually pretty fun to utilize.

At some point in future, I'd like to give dragon-type team a go. I'm not exactly sure what Pokémon I'll be having in it as of yet, exactly, but if I had to guess, one would probably have to be Salamence.

I've tried a mono-type Water team once before. I don't clearly remember if it was in FireRed or Emerald or Crystal, but I didn't complete the game. I'll try to run a Fire team in my next Platinum walkthrough.

Depends on type and game version.

For instance, a rock monotype or grass monotype for BW

Rock: Crustle, Archeops, Carrocosta, and Gigalith.
Grass: Serperior, Lilligant, Leavanny, Whimsicott, Sawsbuck, Maractus/Simisage

My least favorite grass pokemon of BW, Maractus/Simisage, I am in love with!

However, on the rock team, not only is it a 4 member team cap, but I only like Crustle and Archeops.

The trick to a fun monotype is have team that you actually love...which isn't always so easy a task.
