5th Gen Official English Name Discussion

A few months back I suggested Aquott for Mijumaru. I still think it's a good idea.

I also have some ideas for the gym leader names.

Dento - Glenn (a glen is another name for a valley)
Pod - Charles (from char)
Corn - Wade (the action of walking through water)
Aroe - Regina (from regular); alternately: Nora (from normal)
Arti - Mahoney (from honey)
Kamitsure - Jewel (from joule)
Yaakon - Dusty (from dust or dusty); alternately: Clayton (from clay)
Fuuro - Abigail (from gale)
Hachiku - Achilles (from chill)
Iris - probably best as it stands, but the name Ophelia wouldn't be bad for a dragon trainer (from ophidian)
Shaga - Vernon (from wyrm; yeah, I know. It's a stretch.)
 
Tsutarja - Ivinom (Ivy + venom)
Janoby - Royavy (Royal + ivy)
Jalorda - Ariscotle (Aristo + Quetzalcoatl)
Pokabu - Pigleat (Piglet + heat)
Chaoboo - Chaboar (Char + boar)
Enbuoh - Emboar (Ember + boar)
 
Heehee, I just thought of some names for Pokabu's line. :B

Pokabu - Pyroink (Pyro + Oink, obviously :P)
Chaoboo - Emboar (Ember + Boar)
Enbuoh - Exploink (Explode + Oink)

I am soooo cleverrrrrr, nyaha... :>
(Of course, I just saw "Emboar" and "Pyroink" floating around and just used them. Exploink, I made up on my own, lmao xD)

#501 mijumaru= vaporott
# 513 baoppu= emboon
# 540 kurumiru= sewillar
#556 marakacchi= quinctus
#566 aaken= bouldgeon
 
sazandora= Dracolash Draconian + lash
lepardes= Leopardo- Leopard + a random 'O'
Gigaith= Stalagaith Stalagmite+ wraith
Baibanira= Cumulake- Cumulus + flake
 
After looking at mostly all of the names of the 5th generation, I think most of the Pokémon will keep their names. Like how Monozu basically means 'one head' in japanese, it'll be kept as that. Or maybe something like Monodra or something for one + hydra.

I'd love to see the english names now, i'd like to see how creative they can be.
 
Oh, I definitely think that most of the names will be changed. The only ones to keep their names will likely be Reshiram, Zekrom (confirmed), Kyurem, Genosect, and Emonga.

Personally, I'm wondering what Shikijika will become.
 
Mijimaru should be named Wotter. XD

I anticipate Meguroco's name might be preserved or changed to Megacroc(o) or Megucroc(o). :\

I'm hoping that Waruvial keeps its Japanese name. Not only does it have the "war" prefix (possibly reminiscent of a 'warrior' like WarGreymon?), the "vial" part can suggest multiple meanings: being homophonic with the term vile; indicating Waruvial being a "vial" brimming with power and ferocity; and Waruvial's origins relating to the gharial/gavial (a type of crocodile). :)
 
I'm still guessing their english names. some are new, for example:
mamepato- dovelini...because it's a dove and he's little. little things called in italian ''picolini'' so DOVELINI.
tabuune- cureiry... because it's a healing pokemon, a synonym of heal is indeed ''cure''. and it looks like a fairy.
otamaro- polebre. it's a tadpole, and his vision is ''sombre''.

Smugleaf could have its english name as so, given that it has become a meme sensation the moment it was revealed. In DP and HGSS there have have references to internet memes like a galactic grunt threatening Prof. Rowan that his assistant'll recieve massive damage as well as 'a winner is you' at the bug-catching contest respectively.

Then Janovy's english name could be Smugovy (Smug+Canovy) and Jarlorda? Fans refered to it as Smuglord, though it isn't as popular as Smugleaf. but still it kinda sounds matching, given its royal theme is the most obvious among the three.

My official guesses are gonna be Aspleaf, Pyroink, and Shellott. XD

We'll know for sure in less than a week. :D
 
Interesting they've put them as silhouettes, as if it's going to be some big reveal. :\ Either way, I'll be glad I can finally refer to them with a name that I don't have to copy and paste from somewhere. :P

Mijumaru better have a cute name, or I might be put off.
