From what I've seen you can Sub in if someone who's already in is unable to be here.

Won 2 - 0 against Lopunny. The first battle was insane at the end. Replays still not working so there's nothing to post.

The Gen 2 battle was crazy, I swept with just Pinsir after 2 Swords Dances, lol.
Then the Gen 3 battle I got both Kyogre and Groudon and there was a lot of weather switching since he had Shifty with Sunny Day.

Won 2-1 against MaSterBarth. He disconnected during our second match (Gen 3), but he later reconnected and beat me during our rematch. Beat him in Gen 4 though (Frost Rotom was really helpful)
