I second this entirely. I'd be beside myself with disposition and anger from it. May was my favourite character and part of my nostalgia for this game. She is what defined what I remembered of Gen 3. When they took out Kris in HG/SS I was disturbed, I didnt like Lyra at all especially in the anime. She didn't have any real character to me or personality; and the unfamiliarity with her place in gen 2 made it hard to fit her into the nostalgia factor. She came too soon and was misplaced for me. Though its possible she was added because Kris was an exclusive from Crystal and already in another continuity but... thats didn't make Lyra easy to accept for me from that. If they managed to dash May for a new irrelevant contrasting character too I might not even buy this new game. With nostalgia killed, there'd by no reason. You just cant do that if its a "remake."

I personally liked Lyra, though I preferred Kris over her and was sad that she was replaced. I'm hoping they won't replace May (or Brendan) for ORAS. That being said, if there is Trainer customization I can see it being possible (especially if they were to give the option to have different skin colors and hairstyles), but at the same time, they can still keep Brendan and May as bases and still allow those changes to be made. Also, if the protags. do in fact change, it's possible Brendan and/or May could still appear as NPCs, though it'd be nice to play as them again, too.

The only feasable way replacing them would make sense is if they were cameos for this if it was a sequel or time skip.. but as they said, it isnt but an actual redesign. I don't expect them to change anything. Though player customization wouldnt be too bad of a compramise; in fact I encourage the return of the feature (if elabourated on). I can deal with anything so long as May/Brendan remained the defaults at most. I wouldn't mind editing them to personalize the characters to my tastes either so long as they just arent replaced.
 
I could see them changing the playable character into something more simple like the X and Y character design, and having the rival remain Brendan/May, depending on the player's gender, of course.
 
Calem and Serena worked on a very similar basis, so I don't see any harm in having the same characters with customisable options. Perhaps Brendan would get a better hat, but hey, soon we'd get to buy our own!
 
For some reason, Calem and Serena DO remind me of Brendan and May.

Imagine the XY anime, May and Max goes to Kalos? Max and Bonnie. Goodness.

I have actually thought of that too except Bonnie and Clement being reverse max and may. Clement is smart and such and Bonnie is playful and such.
 
It would certainly be interesting if they included Max in ORAS. Doubt that they'd actually do that, but I'd like to see it happen. He was always a fun character to watch in the anime! If they did, though, it would probably take even more away from Wally as a character of significance.
 
They could put him post game maybe with Jirachi. Wally never really did much then.
 
I've often wondered why Max was never included or referenced in the game, he had a heavy role in the anime at the time which would make you think he would have some sort of cameo. Perhaps they could introduce him somehow in Pokemon ORAS?

I totally agree. It would be really cool, and it would make sense as the past few pokemon games have had multiple rivals instead of just one. I think Nintendo underestimates how much people appreciate games matching up with events and information from the anime.
 
It would suck to not be able to see May anymore; she one of my all-time favorite characters. Same goes for Brendan. If either of them wind up getting removed, somehow, I'd personally be heavily disappointed. :(
 
As I've said previously I'd be surprised if they did replace Brendan/May with new characters. The only reason Lyra was introduced (so I believe) is because during the Gold & Silver days there was no female protagonists, Kris was introduced in Crystal sure but these were remakes of Gold and Silver. As for ORAS, I'm almost certain we will be seeing Brendan & May return!

Along with Brendan and May returning, I hope that they take advantage of the 3D graphics and make their appearance more detailed, like it is in the anime. In the old games, the graphics style limited detail to a bare minimum when it came to trainers, but now that has changed, and I'd like to see them put some effort into making characters lively and realistic, at least to a degree. d:

I would kinda like if there were like HD like and look slim than they were in X and Y coz tbh, it kinda looked too chunky and pixelated imo. Yeah, I agree they should make it lively and realistic.
 
I'm guessing what TMs will be given out by the Gym Leaders in OR/AS:
-Roxanne: Rock Tomb
-Brawly: Bulk Up or Low Sweep
-Wattson: Charge Beam
-Flannery: Overheat
-Norman: Facade
-Winona: Aerial Ace or Sky Drop
-Tate and Liza: Calm Mind or Psyshock
-Wallace/Juan: Scald

I really hope Tate and Liza give away Psyshock. Calm Mind is a great move, but it shouldn't be that tough to get a hold of. Psyshock, on the other hand, is actually pretty rare; when you go online battling, it's pretty tough to actually find somebody using it. This would help give it more exposure, and perhaps help people become more aware of the attack's existence, haha. As for Wallace and Juan--that's an awesome idea! In general, Scald is an amazing water-type move; would personally do almost anything to get my hands on it. =)
 
I just hope the remakes will be a little more of a challenge this time around. And also still be similar to the originals. But I like thar set up of tm give aways ^
