I'm sure the majority of us have a problem with procrastination. What have you done or are trying to do or have been referred to try in an attempt to overcome your procrastination problem?

Lol don't fight it. Give in. I've been procrastinating for almost 24 hours straight now. Responsi-what-ities?

We're the only species in the world with a concept of time. Procrastination doesn't exist because time itself is just a thing we made up as a way to not only dictate when we did things, but dictate when others do things as well. Procrastination is just your internal being dictating your actions without the pressures of time; your truest desire at that point in time. A rebellion of our ancestors and refusal to accept time as anything other than a conspiracy to dictate our beings.

Imo the procrastination situation is an autological one, I can't begin to overcome it when I'm procrastinating in the first place. It's kinda like a paradox. Procrastinating overcoming procrastination is just too natural.

As for suggestions though, I have received stern encouragement from the parental units to actual get stuff done at a reasonable time.

I try to assign some value to my time. Like, "If you just sit down and do what you need to do, you could get a scholarship that will save you x amount of dollars."

That's my plan for college too. "You're spending tens of thousands of dollars to come here, just do the work so you're not wasting time and money."

I'm terrible about procrastinating, but money is a great motivator :P

I have learned to overcome my bad habit of procrastination by looking back at my past experiences with it and realizing that it was something that needed to stop. I did well throughout school, but I could have done so much more had I invested more time into my school work instead of procrastinating it for Pokemon or TV. I don't want to go back to being like that so I basically just force myself to do things now on time.

Going to have to disagree. Every living creature has some concept of time (nocturnal/diurnal animals, mating seasons, hibernation, etc.); look up biological clocks.

Whether or not you believe in time limits, you are going to die. Everything you have deadlines for ultimately lead up to some goal you feel you must achieve before death. Fighting procrastination is easier said than done, but what helps me is to focus on the larger picture, my long-term dreams -- and breaking that down into the smaller tasks I so readily push off ("there's always tomorrow").

Helps to keep things in perspective, you know? Especially knowing you have a time limit, always.

I don't think overcoming procrastination is possible in my case. I just do it soooo much. The only times I don't do it is when there's something big to win. Other times, I'm like "meh, later."

Someone help him deal with it. No, seriously, guys. I'm still waiting for my sandwich... :(

What I usually do is, before I sleep, I write down the things I need to do for tomorrow on a paper and have it posted on my door. Take a picture of it and set as my phone's wallpaper. So the moment I wake up, I get to see it. Making I-Forgot-excuses unacceptable.

Obviously though, It never worked. xD
What I do after is, turn off the wifi and place my laptop on my closet. I have nothing else to do anymore since I no longer have my gaming consoles-- only my phone.
I'd be forced to sit on my table, study and do some college homeworks then =)) Works 99% of the time :)

I'd never been able to solve my problem on procrastination when I was in high school, but when I start college in January, I'm really hoping to just put my procrastination to rest.

What I had thought about doing was just getting all my schoolwork done at the library after my classes were done for the day so that I wouldn't dare myself to come onto PC (or any other social site) and goof off. And when it comes to papers, I'd probably just go into my router and block off my social sites in my router so that I don't dare try to access them when I need to be writing a long paper.

I have a sure way to over come it, but i think i will type it later.

Just do my work right when I get it, and don't think about videogames, fried chicken, girls, McDonalds, TV, Netflix, movies, girls, more girls, good anything else. I cxa get distracted easily. :p
