Nothing inherently wrong with the imperial system. It's just that the metric system is easier to memorize. Ooh, good debate.

Pros and cons of both the imperial system and the metric system. Have at it guys...

Wait a second. Are you telling me the American system is called the imperial system? Or is the UK using something entirely different?

Living in the US sucks

Nah, not really.. but when it comes to measurements, then yes it does suck, and that's because we're like the only country who uses Imperial/Customary units of measurement. It's bad enough that I have to use a converter when talking units with my pair since he's over in the UK. >_>

I think they're roughly the same (if not, the exact same), but they use the same units of measurement.

America tried to use the Metric System in the 70s but we were apparently too stupid to get used to it.

Haha. So apparently I'm more underweight than I had realized. My doctor is actually concerned about it, and told me several times today that I should eat more. Said something about worrying that I'm anorexic. T:

Aaand for the other topic.
It's so difficult to remember different systems. I remember having to memorize them in middle school. I managed to get by with notes that I shouldn't have had. I never really memorized them. {:

The superior-to-everything-else metric system also has the advantage of being part of the SI units which are all directly related in easy to memorize ways (in a way that there's no 4.1685748 "unit 1" = 3.254789542 "unit 2"/"unit 3") and is used on all kinds of scientific research for that specific reason.

I seriously wonder why the US is the only country that doesn't use this obviously superior system, that is more precise, easier to use and memorize.

That being said, it is the only system I have ever used and will never use another. I vehemently refuse to use different units. And yes, that inferior system used by the US is called the Imperial system.

yeah it's because of the same reason why we use qwerty instead of Dvorak.

people are just too lazy.

speaking of lazy look what I accomplished today

i feel stupid

Hey, we're getting there with the metric system. It may not be on speed signs but you'll find both imperial and metric units on products in the grocery store and on the odometer of many cars in the U.S. Actually, I think the reason we won't do it is simply because if we did it, it would cost a ton of money of change everything around and right now I don't see us making that large of an investment. But then again, we waste money on war and drone strikes. Predictable. Give it a few generations, the U.S. always gets around to it...eventually. Better late than never.

If its any consolation, scientists in the U.S. almost always use metric and SI units.

Also, hey, I love using QWERTY and I don't want that to change!

I wouldn't mind trying to use the DVORAK method of typing. It actually looks more simple when you get the hang of it.

But... what about when you're gaming? No more WASD! It's gonna be <AOE! D:

WASD was something i often used in FPS games, tho i use my PC more for RTS, where the mouse is way more important.

I've never tried any alternate keyboard layouts...I'm so used to QWERTY that I can't see myself getting used to anything else, even if it's more efficient or whatever.

Like most, I'm comfortable enough with the QWERTY layout, and learning a new layout would probably take me forever. However, it isn't bad to know QWERTY because 99.99% of computers here in the US have QWERTY keyboards and it would be difficult for me to type on a different keyboard than my own if I learned the Dvorak layout.

I can't live without WASD I think. I can't control games with a console controller lmao, I need a keyboard and a mouse.

Also, I can type quickly on a QWERTY keyboard without looking. Wouldn't want to have to relearn. Mine is a bit different from yours though, as some symbols are in other places than on American keyboards and mine has got the Å Ä and Ö :p

I can do with a keyboard where writing accent marks and the like didn't take so much effort. :I

I'm fairly decent at typing without looking, thankfully. I'd have died with all the essays I had to write last year, if I didn't.

I'm so used to my QWERTY. If I had to deal with a different keyboard it would take me forever to type.

WASD is a definite need RHCP :O. Although I panic whilst gaming and always miss the one I want.
