Let's discuss all things related to Pokémon cries in this thread! Here's a few guiding questions, though they're by no means the only ones you can discuss.

-What are your favourite Pokémon cries?
-What are your least favourite Pokémon cries?
-What cry do you find the most badass? How about cutest, funniest, saddest, weirdest or grossest cries?
-What do you think of Pikachu and Eevee's cries across all generations? Should they be voiced, or should they remain similar to all others?
-What do you make of the recent (PLA/S/V) change regarding Pokémon cries playing in battle? Does it fit the atmosphere and new style of the games, or does it annoy you?
-Would you change any Pokémon's cry? If so, what to and why?

As far as pokemon cries for games i really never put much thought into them, just a thing that is. That said the fact that for a time pikachu and eevee had anime-esque cries which were eventually reverted i find weird. I figured at some point more pokemon in the games would get anime cries(and believe they should at some point), but no.

-What are your favourite Pokémon cries?

I don't have a favorite cry, but Buizel's is pretty good. I like Sneasel's, too. Scrafty's is cool, too.

-What are your least favourite Pokémon cries?

Mamoswine...I've never been a big fan of this one.

-What cry do you find the most badass? How about cutest, funniest, saddest, weirdest or grossest cries?

Most badass? Uh. That's hard for me to say. It's just a collection of a one second sound bit. Cutest is probably Eevee before it started saying its name. Cutest is probably Bellossom for me. Funniest...Abomasnow, I guess? Saddest is tough to answer, weirdest too, and grossest? Eh. Can't really say.

-What do you think of Pikachu and Eevee's cries across all generations? Should they be voiced, or should they remain similar to all others?

I'm indifferent on both fronts. Pikachu and Eevee saying their names is cute, but them having electronic cries isn't bad, either.

-What do you make of the recent (PLA/S/V) change regarding Pokémon cries playing in battle? Does it fit the atmosphere and new style of the games, or does it annoy you?

What do you mean by this? I don't quite understand.

-Would you change any Pokémon's cry? If so, what to and why?

Change Magneton's cry back to the way it was in the DS games.

I can't remember a lot of the cries I like off the top of my head, but Wooper's is so cute. I've always loved it and it's stayed adorable throughout the changes across gens. Also the Regis.. always memorable, especially in their debut gens!

Anyone else find Delcatty's cry a bit annoying? Sad cause I like the Pokémon a lot. :'(

What do you think of Pikachu and Eevee's cries across all generations? Should they be voiced, or should they remain similar to all others?

I like when they're not voiced for sure. Anime cries are nice, but the animal sounds seem a lot more natural to me. That and it doesn't mesh well with all the other cries being different. Giving every other Pokémon anime cries to be consistent probably wouldn't work either since they have different voices in different languages, meaning looots of redubbing.

I can't narrow it down to a small enough number to really list without it being massive. But what I can do is tell people to look up Electabuzz's anime cry. EEEEHHHBBBLBLBLBLBLBL

And let's not forget the adorable mess that is Regigigas' noises in the film Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. I… I fell in love with the thing. It's such adorable computer noises I just-

I was incredibly annoyed with Kickretune at first, but over time grew to love its annoying cry.

Sorry! By this mean the fact that the Pokémon cries play not only when sending the Mon out, but also when said Mon is attacking or defeating another Pokémon in battle. If you ask me... it's kind of annoying.

Yes, let's discuss Pokémon cries because I have a lot to say about them. I feel that they are a great aspect of Pokémon that aren't talked about often. To answer your questions:

-What are your least favourite Pokémon cries?
I can't really say that I have a least favorite cry because I never felt that strongly about them to dislike them, but I probably have to say Single-Strike Urshifu because you can barely hear it.

-What cry do you find the most badass? How about cutest, funniest, saddest, weirdest or grossest cries?
The most badass Pokémon cry probably belongs to Empoleon, but Turtonator also applies, as well as Samurott. The cutest cry belongs to Litleo. The saddest cry belongs to. As for the weirdest cries, well, there are quite a few of those. Regigigas sounds like a bunch of unnatural sounding noises. Drifblim sounds like a Hip-Hop beat. Kricketune is iconic, but that doesn't make it any less weird. Gallade has that little sound effect at the end of his cry. Aurorus cry is weird and unnerving to me. It sounds like the screams of 1,000,000 suffering souls or something. It's so weird. As for the grossest cry, that definitely belongs to Skuntank because it sounds like it's doing a messy number two.

-What do you think of Pikachu and Eevee's cries across all generations? Should they be voiced, or should they remain similar to all others?
I believe that Pikachu and Eevee should have their old cries without being voiced. I get that they are supposed to be mascots for Pokémon, but that doesn't mean they should receive special treatment. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet made the right choice with them this generation.

-What do you make of the recent (PLA/S/V) change regarding Pokémon cries playing in battle? Does it fit the atmosphere and new style of the games, or does it annoy you?
I love it. It makes Pokémon feel more like living, breathing creatures that vocalize and express themselves.

-Would you change any Pokémon's cry? If so, what to and why?
I would probably change Haxorus' cry back to its old cry before the remaster of cries. I would probably make Single-Strike Urshifu sound more ferocious.

Another thing I wanted to mention about Pokémon cries is that, in my opinion at least, many Pokémon stopped sounding like living things around generation IV. For example, if you listen to most of the cries in generation III, a lot of the Pokémon actually sounded like creatures you'd hear in real life or at least living things. In generation IV however, so many Pokémon started to sound weird like Magnezone, Electivire, Regigigas, Drifblim, and so on. Personally, I prefer the more realistic cries over those.

the best cry is DELELELELEWOOOOP, no contest

i recently acquired my usual MVP Magnezone in OR though and its cry is much cuter than I remember too; i think I must have played Platinum mostly muted ahah

While I don't doubt that you probably played Platinum muted, Magnezone (as well as most pre-Generation VI Pokémon) did gets its cry changed upon the big jump to 3DS! And you're absolutely right - its cry does sound more adorable!

You can tell Game Freak took full advantage of their newly acquired GBA soundchip, because many Generation III Pokémon have amazing, iconic cries; Claydol, Cradily, Metagross, and Registeel immediately come to mind. Generation IV's Pokémon also have really cool ones too, from Kricketune's to Electivire's (which uses an actual electric guitar sample) to Regigigas's. I'm not the biggest fan of newer Pokémon's cries, but there are some pretty memorable ones like Klawf's (which is frankly terrifying) and Cetitan's (which is apparently the longest cry of any Pokémon).

I don't like Pokémon cries that don't sound like...cries, I guess? Bombirdier is one of the biggest offenders, because it just sounds like it dropped a few pebbles on the ground (not even decently big rocks) instead of vocalizing, but Fuecoco's and Crocalor's are almost equally boring and forgettable; it's a bit hard to explain, but they suffer from roughly the same problem Bombirdier does.

Generation VI's biggest sin was making Scraggy sound like a muted squirrel. Sure, Scraggy's original cry might be a bit too reverby and icy (I'm bad at explaining things), but it packs a whole lot more of a punch than its current cry. Trapinch's vocal chords were another 3DS casualty, and its cry now sounds nowhere as impactful as it once did.

One question that I wanted to know, which I asked before in another thread but didn't receive any answers, are the cries in Sword and Shield glitched?

I play almost exclusively with muted sounds, so I have no idea about cries. I think I could identify one or two Pokémon that I've actually heard, but other than that, I can't even say if they are good or bad. But at least I know Pikachu has its anime cry in newer gens. And I think some Pokémon shared their cries in Gen I.

My next post should be about cries from the latest generation. When I go through with them, I will update this post!
