Found this about a week ago and I have been obsessed! I love it so much, and it is so well done! I seriously can't wait to see any new stuff that may be added later on to continue the adventure because I just want to play this non-stop.
I was wondering if anyone knew how the EV's worked in this game? Can you EV train at level 100, or do you need to be able to gain exp like in older gens? Is there any way to check your ev's, even if just a hint at where they stand? Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows.
Marina disappeared after beating her gym. I've tried many saves and she just doesn't appear in Atsail Laboratory. I can't progress in the story without her. Is there a way to fix this?
Just finished the game, I know there was a thread in some website to post this but the credits went so fast I couldn't catch it.
Here's my team! https://imgur.com/a/0TJqj5T
It was so fun, I'll keep an eye for v4 definitely
There is one available at the Gaia Wiki site but I thought it wasn't detailed enough so I hope the one I made will help. If any of you either know someone who updates that site or if you do updates, you are free to use the walkthrough to add any missing information there. Let me know if there are any errors in or anything missing from the walkthrough. Cheers.
I got Pokemon Yellow for Christmas when I was 10 and this was the best Pokemon experience since that.
The story never declined in quality. The diversity in Pokemon is spot on. The level curve and pacing is beyond perfect. The writing is human, poignant and hilarious. I never met any bugs.... Ahhh what a game.
I've already posted my praise years ago in this thread for version 2.5, but I just finished 3.2 and Spherical Ice and the team you guys are the bossssss.
I love that final waterfall up Victory road. So epic.
In my last post the main thing I asked for was please make the Battle Marsh teams competitive and lol yeah you did that. It was an actual challenge and extremely enjoyable tweaking my team, learning common movesets and speed tiers... I just got my 101 win streak. Soooo satisfying!!!
I've got to post my team somewhere. I'm so proud of them.
Spoiler my Battle Marsh rules, team and experience:
Spoiler:
My self-imposed rules were:
Battle mode: 'Set' (because 'Shift' is cheating and imo should be disabled in the Battle Marsh)
Meta-gaming: I will look up the type and stats of Pokemon I don't recognise. No looking up movesets or boss teams. If I have to learn, it's through trial and error.
EV training: cba to do that but as it happens I ended up with fairly OK EV spreads because my phys attackers were trained playing through the last 2 gyms and there seem to be a lot of Atk and Speed EVs going there.
IVs and Nature: I'll spend about 30 minutes caring and reloading before I get bored and accept the closest the game gives me.
Evasion: Nah that's bs and also extremely boring and time consuming. Smogon rules - no Sand Veil, no double team etc...
Knock off / Trick: I will 'retire' and re-enter to get my item back if it's removed because that ruins your run for no good reason.
Retrying: It goes without saying that if we white-out, we white out and begin again from 0. No using emulator quick load.
The team:
Leader: Dragonite @ Leftovers w/ Multiscale
Jolly (I got really lucky just before getting bored and giving up and he also has S tier HP and Atk and B- speed)
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
Dance until you feel scared or bored, then sweep. I usually aim for 3 boosts but often settle for 2 because there are a lot of Focus Sashes out there. You need to assume Poke 2 or 3 might not get OHKO because of Sash so it's more important to have more HP than another boost. I race every other stat-upper because I know they can never OHKO me and I'll OHKO any of them not boosting defence, and still 2HKO the Cursers (and there are a lot of Cursers!).
After probably ~3-400 battles, this is the ideal coverage balance imo.
Dragon Claw does enough damage most of the time vs Outrage. Outrage is fine if it would hit 3 times before confusion, but when you get confused after only 2 hits, I lost too many battles because of that. We have Multiscale - we can afford to miss OHKO and take one hit sometimes.
Iron Head deals with most Fairy and bulky rocks.
Fire Punch gets through bulky grass, most steel and Ferrothorn is OHKO even without any boosts. Watch out for Skarmory - only a OHKO after +3 boosts, while his Brave Bird does an annoyingly high amount of damage.
One or the other lets us KO almost all Ice Pokes after +1 boost. If their starter is ice, at full HP we can Dance and take an ice move - usually go down to ~50% HP, then OHKO back with Fire Punch or Iron Head, and their only counter is down and we easily sweep. Obviously don't do this vs Mamoswine who will priority Ice Shard you and laugh.
First mate: Empoleon @ Leftovers
Careful (a terrible nature) and mediocre IVs and no EV training
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Aqua ????
Basically Empoleon is not an incredible poke, and mine is not an incredible Empoleon, but his typing and move pool is A++++++++ for this team.
Happily takes every attack Dragonite can't and 2 or 3HKOs back with one of his coverage moves. Would probably get a lot more OHKO if he didn't have a nature taking away SpA LOL but I'm too lazy to breed and train up again.
Also absorbs Toxics and burns (and there are a lot of Toxic Pokes around!)
He's my switch in for bulky waters (unless Dragonite has enough boosts to just plow through them) as they can't ever get through him and Grass Knot takes them down in the end.
Revenge killer supreme: Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite w/ Tough Claws
Naughty (IVs: A Atk, B Spe. Mostly Atk and Spe EVs)
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Taunt
My final Poke was formerly Choice Scarf Tyranitar but there are just tooooo many pokes in the pool running Stone Edge/EQ/[some fighting move] that either outspeed even ScarfTar or take any hit from us and OHKO back. Also I lost twice to Sand Rush Excadrill that I could beat if I wasn't giving it double speed with my Sand Stream lol. So, replaced with Aerodactyl and I knew after a few battles we were going to get to a streak of 101 if I kept focused. I'm 95% sure you don't even need the Mega form, but then you would need Life Orb or Choice Band instead, or run Fly over Aerial Ace. Mega Aerodactyl gets Tough Claws which means Aerial Ace OHKOs even bulky fighting boys like Hariyama. EQ is the only answer the team has to Aggron (and we have to bait the AI by switching first to Empo to take his rock or steel move, then to Aerodactyl to take the EQ, then EQing him). Taunt is for the Cancerous minimise / double team sets, protect Dragonite from status and also that one Gliscor set running Protect/Toxic/Substitute/EQ. That one Poke has ended more of my runs in Battle Marsh than anything else. And we don't even have the TMs to create it ourselves le sigh.
The overall strategy:
OK lol the last Pokemon game I played was Diamond so forgive my amazement. Multiscale Dragonite is hilarious. He's the key Pokemon and the other two just support him. Almost every opponent starter is 1 turn of free setup because I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible to get OHKO from full HP, and after +1 speed you're always faster. Many are 3 turns of setup and I still have 50% HP or more. Leftovers allows me to abuse Multiscale much more (and there are a loooot of Fake Out users or weather effects that Leftovers counters).
In about 80% of battles, Dragonite goes 2 for 1. Maybe 40% of the time Dragonite sweeps all 3. It means I have a chance to achieve a streak of 100 this lifetime. Also I love power :D
Rest of the time Empoleon switches in to take Ice/Dragon/Rock moves and then either walls and KOs, or we predict the Earthquake and switch to Aerodactly to revenge kill.
If you're going to create a similar team based on this beast, don't be afraid to use Dragonite to attack without boosts as needed - he's still a powerhouse and if you can get Jolly and a decent amount of speed EVs he outspeeds almost everything in Battle Marsh - yes even all of the Garchomps and most of the Salamence sets which I can only assume don't have good IVs or something).
My requests for the final version are:
A way to reset EVs and let us feed items to EV train all the way to 255. I'm 30 now and cba with the grind mechanics :D
A way to train IVs, or maybe a way just to improve them a bit?
Any and all competitive battle marsh events you can think of: 6v6, no Megas, no stat total over 520 etc etc I'll take them all: I love the challenge. I'd be really happy to contribute to these (have a programming background but never touched GBA)
Hi! I'm not very technically minded and finding that I cant get this to work on the emulators I'm using. I use Desmume and visualboyadvanced. Was wondering if anyone can guide me through how to get it to work because this game looks super interesting and I would love to play it.
Thanks! :)
Edit: I'm using windows pc :)

Congratulations for everybody involved in this project. I downloaded this game last and just finished it. It is the second hack I played and I really liked it. The game has a fun and engaging story (much better than the disappointing sw/sh) and I had a blast playing it. Thank you guys for your effort. It shows!
Ah, now THIS was an excellent game! I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. All the people who worked on Gaia have made something truly wonderful. I was never bored at any point during the entire game, including when I tried finding a decent Scyther in the bug-catching contest.
My only criticism of the entire game is that the sprites for the villain team are very obviously edited Team Plasma sprites, but honestly, I cannot hold this against anyone. This hack is still VERY beautiful, and I loved it all.
The credits suggested that I post my Hall of Fame team here, so here goes:
Roberu (Infernape)
Adamant Nature
- ThunderPunch
- Rock Smash
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
Charlotte (Mismagius)
Gentle Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Power Gem
- Pain Split
- Magic Shine
Ginger Ale (Lopunny) @ Lopunnite
Hasty Nature
- Return
- Drain Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Strength
Gurren (Excadrill) @ Amulet Coin
Quirky Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Again, I had a VERY good time playing through Gaia. It's definitely one of my favorite fangames out there. The staff, everybody who worked on this, has done something absolutely wonderful. I thank you all for this good time. I wish all of them luck on any future endeavours.
