hmm, so qualifiers end tomorrow? or has it been extended?

so many posts in one day, can't keep up x.x

Why would you not play on PO/Showdown? Cartridge play is so 2009. If you play on your 3DS, you do it so you can upload the game to YouTube. And PLEASE don't use the "but I worked so hard to train my Pokemon". That's just dumb. You coulda spared yourself 100+ hours if you just played on Showdown. And you can easily change something up if you notice a flaw. And you get battles easier.

I just have to say one more time how dumb "I trained and raised the Pokemon myself, I put so much time into it" sounds. That's like comparing regular chess to chess games online and saying "I bath this pawn every night before bed, and hopefully he'll develop lazercanons and nuclear weapon soon".
I agree that Showdown is a much easier method for doing battles, but the reason why the league is split into a 3DS half and a Showdown half is because some people simply can't do the Showdown part (like Polar's computer having issues), and I expect some challengers to have a preference for cartridge battling or that they won't even know what Showdown is. We're doing it this way to accommodate more players so the league doesn't die because of inactivity.

Also Zekrom, have you played Falkbalk yet? I'm looking through the past few pages, but don't think I see it. :I I thought I remembered you saying you did at some point though -
I was going to, but when I got on the battle server, elf quickly challenged me to a match just before I could with Falkbalk, and then I had to go do something right after that. When I got back on, he wasn't there. So we never battled.

EDIT: Also, I think that the dual typed gym thing is a good idea too. Shall we go with that instead?

Hmm. Maybe I need to challenge you this afternoon. LOL

I mean, this is just pure chaos, you haven't even set the rules. Are legendaries banned/not banned? Is it 6v6 doubles or 4v4 VGC? GBU or Smogon OU? This place needs a massive cleanup so it doesn't end up as messy as a fourteen year old girl's room when she discoveres Harry Styles.

It may not be the most organized but it's working perfectly fine for the rest of us. 6 v 6, no ubers, those are the unspoken rules we all follow. Everyone else seemed to understand without being told directly

One more thing I've learned from prior experience:

For this to run smoothly, Gym Leaders and E4 will need to be able to use both wifi and PO/PS. For upcoming Gym Leaders, if you need a certain Pokemon for your Gym please feel free to hit me up with a message and I'll do that best I can to supply you with whatever Pokemon you need.

Hi there, have you guys considered running more than the 8 gyms? Having more than 8 would allow challengers to play against different types/battle styles and can help handle availability issues.

I'd be interested in challenging the league once it kicks off! :D

I'd prefer to keep the gyms monotyped with a wildcard, but if everyone likes having dual-typed ones more I can go with that. I assume we won't be having any wildcards if we do end up going dual-typed, however.

FTR, Charizard_Man got some luck against my team troll and took me out 2-0 by outspeeding my faster members at the end. I really should breed for speed and both types of attack, that might help...LOL

Ok, so now that the position qualifier match things are almost over, I thought I'd type up a rough draft of the OP for the league when we're ready to open it. This should hopefully "clean up" things a bit.

Welcome to the [insert name of league here]!

[insert some introductory ♥♥♥♥ here because I suck at writing introductions in papers]. The unique thing about this league is that it is divided into a Pokemon Showdown half and a 3DS/cartridge half! There are 4 Gym Leaders, 2 Elite Members, and 1 Champion in each division. Not only that, but the league members (except the Champions) utilize two types instead of one! Do you think that you have what it takes to conquer the league? But before you challenge us, there are some rules you need to follow:

League Rules:
-Challengers must only use one team when taking on the league; no switching teams before each battle; otherwise people will just use teams that have an advantage against the league member they're about to face.
-You do not have to defeat all eight Gym Leaders and all 4 Elite members in order to battle a Champion; just 4 Leaders and 2 Elites will suffice. However, you must defeat all the ones in the same division. You are welcome to challenge both divisions if you like.
-The battle format for the Showdown division is Smogon X/Y OU. The format for the 3DS division is 6v6, and the battle type (Singles, Doubles, etc) is determined by the league member you are facing.
-All Pokemon on this list are banned from both divisions. Any challengers who use these Pokemon will be disqualified.
-The rules for the Showdown division can be found here.
-All battles in the Showdown division will take place on PC's battle server.
-Dark Void is banned in Double battles in the 3DS division.
-Please save all battle videos/Showdown replays and post them here so we can confirm your victory.
-Follow all the rules of the PokeCommunity.

Now that that's out of the way, here are the current League members:

3DS Division:
-Champion: [insert name]

-Elite Member: [insert name, types, and singles/doubles]
-Elite Member: [insert name, types, and singles/doubles]

-Gym Leader: [insert name, types, and singles/doubles]
-Gym Leader: [insert name, types, and singles/doubles]
-Gym Leader: [insert name, types, and singles/doubles]

Pokemon Showdown Division:

-Elite Member: [insert name, types]
-Elite Member: [insert name, types]

-Gym Leader: [insert name, types]

Ok, so there it is. Like I said, this is a rough draft, so feel free to talk about things that need to be fixed/added/removed, the formatting of the post itself, and the rules I wrote in and stuff. Hopefully this'll provide a little order in here so we all know exactly what we're doing here.

That's kind of a neat idea, checkpoint after the leaders but before the Elite 4? It sorta makes sense too, since you're done with the gyms and have to go through victory road and stuff before you start the elite 4. Anyone else got a stance on this?

It definitely seems like a better option, I can't imagine myself wanting to battle six trainers again every time I lose to the champion. Plus, if I've decided to change my team to combat the champion, I could lose to earlier gym members and get stuck.

Depending on how difficult the league is, you could make the gap between the gyms and the elite/champion not only a checkpoint, but a changepoint? You have to use say 4 of the pokes that beat the gyms, but you can change two of them. That way you're still required to build a strong core team rather than building a team to counter specific trainers.

I'm also all for dual-type gyms. Or the gyms can be mono (with wildcard), with the elites being dual-type and the champion doing their own thing?

Is Blaziken really going to be banned here?

I've been using Mega Lucario, BTW. Clearly my specimen is weak.

They're both banned from OU on Showdown, and I thought it'd be best to be consistent with the not-allowed pokes between the leagues. I really wouldn't be surprised if someone (be it challenger or league member) uses a (Mega) Blaziken or Mega Lucario, sweeps, and then someone gets pissy and starts ♥♥♥♥♥ing about how their loss was unfair because someone was using an OP Pokemon.

I personally have never understood Mega Lucario's ban to Ubers, but whatcha gonna do?

I might have to change one of my team members, then, to conform to the rules. Does this mean I will have to rebattle everyone, or is this not applying to qualifiers?

BTW, it could be argued that Sceptile is uiber based on what it did to me when I had to face off against it, but everyone has their own opinions. :P

I don't think that we need to worry about it for the qualifiers. Its not like you were using an Extreme Killer Arceus or a Kyogre or something that's really Uber.

Well Sceptile isn't listed as Uber officially, it probably just swept you due to luck or you had no counters for it. Mega Blaziken and Mega Lucario are ubers though. I dont see a reason why you should redo everything, qualiyers are almost over anyways.

Dammit. Was working on the basis that I lost most of the matches. :P

Porygon2 is stronger than my Mega Lucario. Figure that one out.
