Guys I love all the strategizing going on here, but I think were really straying off the topic of the league with these hahah. I'm not against planning out gyms and builds with one another but isn't there a better place? :c It's cool that we have that, but at the same time if we had everyone planning out and discussing all their breeding and builds in this thread, it would become terribly messy.

Edit: *messier

Right, sorry. More important issues to discuss like the name and the running of the league.

So when is the planned launch date?

Who are the gym leaders/E4 for each division? The only list I recall is the combined type selection one.

And more importantly; can we get some feedback on the important things like is everyone okay with that same teams but build changes for each pokemon allowed for singles vs double battles? And are we requiring the Elite 4 to all be beaten consecutively or no?

- for challengers, yes I agree they can have a second team comprised of the same species of pokes with different builds to fit doubles. Sounds like a sound plan there

-I don't agree with having the E4 as an all or nothing effort for challengers, I believe there should be an order in which they are challenged (determined by the rankings) and after each victory the challenger will receive a symbol just like they would a badge from a gym. If they lose they simply wait a day and challenge the same elite again until they can advance. If we make it so they have to defeat them all consecutively im afraid it will lower challenger's morales and they would lose interest if they keep having to return to the beggining of the E4. I understand this is how it works in the game, but we aren't in the game. Just my opinion

im sticking with singles :]

fairy and steel complement each other pretty well imo. steel and poison are resisted by steel, and fire and ground types say hi to heatran and skarmory. plus i have a core in mind already :p

and regarding the m-maw suspect test... god ban it pls welp won't get to use it but meh

Heh, it's alright. Just seen a few people having trouble keeping up with the thread, and having pages of stuff not even relevant to everyone in the league just makes it harder. :p I wish we could launch this weekend, but I just don't think everyone's ready. Hopefully by either Saturday Sunday if we have a miracle, or we can just start 'beta testing' then - or Tuesday / Wednesday at the latest hopefully. As for a list- Zekrom posted this a few pages back.

Spoiler:

Yaaaay thank you for the input. Iiiiii also agree with your Elite 4 thing. The elites are gonna be pretty dang good, so maybe stopping on each one for a checkpoint is best. Besides, if they have to wait a whole day anyways - can you imagine how many days it would take them if every Elite 4 member they lost to, they had to try all 4 over again? Eep :x

Reactions: Nah
Yeah, I think I'm on board with the idea of allowing people to change their teams EVs and moves if they wish to compensate for the singles/doubles thing, and I'm also cool with not making the E4 an all or nothing affair. Just remember people, most of this is not set in stone; if something doesn't work when put into practice, we can always change it if need be.

^But is everyone cool on this?

@Cyclone: Diancie is legal for this, since she's not banned to Ubers. I'm actually using her on my team.

@Polar: Do you know how much progress Cakesu has made on the badges? We can't really start without those either, which kinda works out since most people still need to finish their teams.

And since "Prism League" seems to be the clear winner for the name, I'm gonna go make the joint league account now.

I know this was meant for Polar but I felt I had to reply directly, for once.

Regarding the badges, I haven't started yet but I will be soonish, I kind of have a lot to do (helping my family with chores and baby from time to time almost everyday and even breed Pokemon >_<).

Polar suggested the following 'We can totally use placeholder images or something until you get back' when I told him I had to go on a trip (which got cancelled again, *sigh*)
I suggest you guys do that until I am done - if you're okay with it and if you plan on starting the whole thing before I am done.

Designing those badges will take me a few days since I want them to look good and be somewhat unique. :) I'll start drawing them asap.

Also, what size should the images be?

Anyhow, lemme know what you think. ^^

You don't have to rush on making the badges, we probably won't be starting the league for another few days at least anyway, since a lot of people still need to make and/or test their teams out. If we do start up the league before you're done, we might as well use placeholders like you and Polar said.

As for sizes....I can't really give you an exact numberxnumber because I have trouble visualizing that kind of stuff, but....if they were roughly half the size of emblems, I think that'd be good, if that works for you.

@Adam: When you get the chance, change the thread title to "Prism League Discussion" or something like that, and maybe make a note of who the General Managers are in the first post.

I'm just doing singles. That said, I guess I'm fine with changing stuff up going from singles to doubles and vice versa because they're vastly different playstyles.

I agree, don't rush, but all the types are known now anyway, so no harm in doing them. Types likely won't change - unless perhaps someone's best combination turns out to be truly pitiful.

Best to send him a VM in case he misses it. I did that.

Really wanna re-emphasize that "Nothing is set in stone" bit again. I know there's been some dissatisfaction with how neatly and with how much organization this has been run with so far- but remember we're just starting out, and making this totally from scratch. There wasn't a template we used, or another league this was based off of, or anything. The only pre-made element of this is the rules and ban lists we're taking from Smogon. :p So don't worry if something doesn't work out, consider what we have right now as an Alpha or something. And please always post suggestions you have for making things better (as long it's constructive, not like "you guise need more dragon jims lolol") here so we can yak it up on wether or not it's a good idea and should be implemented.

(Sorry for any typoes- iPhone at work T-T)

I'm pretty sure this was brought up before but I'll go ahead and throw my two cents in, would it be easier if we turned this into a discussion thread and then made an official league thread?

Also I think having an OP with all of the leaders/e4 listed with all of their symbols next to them and the types they represented would be cool, which I'm sure you were planning anyways.

Mhm - that is the plannnn. As soon as everyone's teams are ready I suppose, or by a definite date of... Sunday? Tuesday? One of those I would think - we'll use the joint account to post the league thread, and use this as a discussion / development thread while the newer one functions as a place for challenges to be made, progress to be tracked, and all that.

ALSO. Hey guys; I had a thought today. Could be great, could be a flop - but lemme know what you think. We're struggling with balance issues here a lot, and for good reason - if it's too easy or too hard it won't function very well or long at all. What if though; and hear me out on this - what if we had different difficulties for people to select for their challenges? Just like we split it into Showdown and X/Y, we could separate the hardcore from the casual, and maybe even throw in a middle ground. And no, I'm not just talking about how hard we try - things we can't really decide on for making it too easy or too hard for either challengers or leaders could be exclusive to harder or easier difficulties. And the teams could be comprised of different pokemon with different conditions for each difficulty. Such as, on the hardest difficulty, while still keeping 2 types for your gym, you have a non-type restricted flex pokemon too; and you use all your top OU tier monsters in tandem with it. On the easier difficulty though, the leaders would remain type locked but with no flex pokemon, and a different team of lower-usage pokemon. This would be a lot easier for showdown users, as there's no breeding involved, but I for one wouldn't mind setting it up on X/Y. Hell, I'd even breed for other people's gyms :U

Just throwin' it out there, obviously I put a little thought into it but if everyone thinks it's too complicated, or just a bad idea I understand :P Maybe down the line once we get the normal league as we have it planned now running first heheh.

Edit: get ninja'd ideals dragon. :p

Damn, I can't believe you ninja'd me.

Anyway, I'm not into that idea at all. Letting people choose their own difficulty kinda defeats the purpose of the league; it's supposed to be a challenge. There's little point in picking the easy route and becoming the Champion that way. And for making it harder, that....may not be possible for everyone to do: battling isn't just about what pokes you use, so even if you use the "best" Pokemon, your level of skill may not be enough to provide that more difficult challenge. Not to mention that we'd all have to make several teams, which is a pain in the ass, and I'm sure some people wouldn't be happy if someone became Champion because they hit the easy button.

Hah yeah, that all makes sense. I didn't mean for the easier difficulty challengers to become reigning champs though, the casual part would've just been for fun / practice.

Nonetheless - it would probably not work really well with what we're doing anyways... maybe someone else somewhere can take something like that up sometime. :n

I used to do this when I played smash bros. competitively and it's kind a a different concept but it might work, before the official battle begins, should we allow one warm up battle?

edit: Or we could allow unofficial non-challenge battles with the leaders/elites still being restricted to their type choosing, giving the challengers an idea of what to expect, maybe? idunno.

I'm against the warm up, because it basically takes out any element of surprise, or that intensity of facing a new opponent for the first time - but I see no reason why leaders couldn't accept friendly matches with their teams off the grid or unofficially.

I just realized a few days ago that I didn't have a team. :P Stupid me. I already have two ready-to-go Mons in my battle-box that helped me beat the game nicely, a Gardevoir I got in a trade, and my Magnezone named Signal. So I've got a Pikachu, Jolteon (got in trade as an Eevee with 3 or 4 Perfect IVs), and two Psychic types (which I forget who they are) on the grill. If I've got (one day, is it?) left, does anyone think I could... Borrow their battle-ready Electrics and/or Psychics till I've got mine ready? ._.'

(EDIT) The Psychics I'm training are Wobbuffet and Gothorita.

A casual player can opt for 3 vs. 3. No badges.

Otherwise, no, and Leaders are not required to accept them.
