Public Transport

This thread is brought to you by the fact that I lost my card to travel with public transport where i live :D

So do you use public transport? Train, bus, etc?
Are you happy with public transport?

I used to use public transportation every day to go to school, but since I now have a driving license I stopped doing that.
It was okay, not good, but okay. Everytime I had to stay at school in the afternoon I had to wait 1 hour for the next bus to arrive because there were no buses that covered that 1 hour gap and this was so annoying.

I quite enjoy taking the RTA from Green Road in the Cleveland suburbs to downtown Cleveland for Indians/Cavs games.

I used to take the bus pretty much all over the place for a few years, but I haven't needed it for quite a while. It wasn't so bad once I got used to it, and you never know what craziness you might end up seeing on there.

I remember one really cool bus driver that always talked with everyone while he was driving. Back when that one commercial was around (I don't even remember what it was for, lol), he kept asking everyone what day it was. I finally said "Wednsday?", and then he shouted "NO! It's Huuuump daaaay!". XD

Yes. Bus, because that's the only type of public transport (well, there are trains but it's the same infrastructure as when the English installed them and are horrible)

Not happy. It's not universally accesible, it's expensive, dirty, most of the lines are slow, and talking about lines, maybe the capital doesn't need about 300 lines, most of them do almost the same journey but with some little change, or just because they belong to different companies. That is all responsibility of the companies that run them.

About the capitol's gestion of it, I'm bittersweet about it. Yeah, secondary students get free bus, and yeah university students like me get discounts on the tickets. But again, common bus tickets are too expensive (it's a bit cheaper if you use digital passes, but still). And I'm tired of the urban planning exclusive to buses. I think a city our size deserves a metro, or at least some tram lines.

I take the bus to work and to stores that are close to home and when I go to someplace that is far, I take Acccess.

Oh! I also forgot to mention the first time I ever took Uber, it was a really bad experience for me. The driver secretly cancelled my ride and said that my ride has been cancelled and I would have to pay an extra $10 which someone has already paid for me. I refused to pay him the extra $10 because I found out he cancelled my ride on purpose and then he threatened me. Do not take Uber. It is bad.

I use the Metro system here on a pretty much daily basis, and it's awful. A poorly funded, poorly operated system, ran by absolute morons.

The number of times i've had to pay to get taxis to work on a morning because there have been delays, or trains just haven't shown up is nothing short of disgraceful. They have nothing in place in case of delays, overcrowding, train failures (which, btw, are another ridiculously common occurrence ). The whole thing is a joke.

Nowadays I don't use public transports often in my hometown, but if it comes to visiting another city, I used them a whole lot. Some of these that I could remember are becak, bajaj, bus, taxi and even MRT (Mass Rapid Transit, initially I thought of it as Monorail Train :P). I think all of these rides are pretty enjoyable, and I think becak, bajaj and MRT are the most unique transportation vehicles that I've been riding so far.

It's been to many years to count since I've used public transportation. I feel like it's been at least 10 years, and the only times I ever used it back then were when I was on vacation with my family and we didn't bring or rent a vehicle.

I work in Manhattan, where driving is a very dumb idea. There is nowhere to park and traffic is insane. Parking garages cost an arm and a leg. Only reason anyone would consider driving to work here is if your company offers free parking spaces and you leave (very) early to beat the rush hour traffic. Many of the cars on the roads are taxis or trucks.

So yea public transport is the way to go. Unfortunately I dislike it though, the NYC subway tends to be filthy and it's hard to get any quiet to or from work. Going home Friday I got on the train to see one guy walking down the car selling drug packets, then when he got off the showtime guys got on... and they make lots of noise orz. Plus trains are insanely packed during rush hour so you're in there like a sardine. ): But can't complain too much for the price, $2.75 for a train that can take you across multiple boroughs + a free transfer to another subway like or regular bus is pretty darn good. I'll always have to take public transport as long as I continue working in Manhattan. Which I probably will, since salaries are better there.

I haven't taken public transport as a means to commute since august and I AM SO HAPPY WITH THAT. SO HAPPY.

I'll have to get back on that public transit life at some point so I'm enjoying my car while I can.

I've taken public transport, their buses and their rail transport in Japan, over there it's great. Over here where I live, nah, it's not that good, I commute.

It's so confusing here because these buses go into halifax as well so there's so many routes and stuff and like the drivers don't know shit??
