Question Of The Day #9: Do you have an issue with "post and go?"

PokeCommunity hosts a wide variety of discussion topics and subjects; from video games to cultural happenings, and mundane everyday tasks to hacking projects, PC is as diverse of a Pokemon site that it can possibly be. However, a "popular" trend that has emerged is the "post and go" format; what I mean by this is the thread is styled in a way in which people will answer a series of questions and then head off to the next thread without engaging other users in discussion. While it may very well be possible that even this thread will turn into that, what is your opinion on this "post and go" format? Do you think it's perfectly okay for these kind of threads/activity to exist on PC? Or do you wish that PC was more discussion based and people interacted with one another more? Do you follow this format? If you think it does exist, what do you think can be done to ultimately change this style if you think it should be changed?

Feel free to discuss all entities of this topic below!

I think it's fine to an extent. We should have some post and go and we should also have discussion. We shouldn't try to outlaw posting and going because then people will try too hard to try and make conversation where conversation is either really hard to make or is just not really necessary.

I think it's fine. It's normal on all forums to have post-and-go topics, because not all topics really need a full discussion, and it just works better to hear everyone's two cents and then move on. I do notice that PC does have a good amount of discussion-based threads, though. Or even threads that you might think of as post-and-go threads end up holding some discussion in them. It seems kind of balanced from what I see sometimes.

It's kind of like how even offline there are topics that are small talk, and then topics that are actual full conversations. o-o

I "post and go" sometimes when I feel like there is nothing else to discuss or rather little room for discussion, such as "what is your favorite color". Nothing really can come from that. That said, I much prefer discussion based threads. Forums are for discussion and if a thread can bring that, I find it much better. Nothing against post and go other than they aren't my preferred style of threads haha.

i think it's okay. i feel though i just always post and go. it's my style.

I "post and go" a lot. If I feel I don't have much to add to the subject but I do have some intellectual comment I could add then I will post something short and move onto the next. Even if I have something pertaining to the subject and sit there and right a few paragraphs I still move onto the next thread. This is not really a style for me. It really seems to happen a lot more to me because I like to try to get into as many subjects as I can and be very active. When your someone who sits on PC at your computer 10 hours a day and even if your doing something else you constantly refresh PC every few minutes. You find that it happens a lot where you go into a section end up posting in 10 threads in a few minutes and then move on.

"post and go" is more than just a style for some people but its also due to some members being a lot more active in some area's than others. When you sit on PC and dedicate hours to just one section you will find a thread can not receive a reply sometimes for a couple hours in some area's

I myself am rather guilty of this, sometimes in the Pokémon Gaming Central forums and especially in General Chat. But in the former I tend to find myself more passionate about the posts I make there so it doesn't happen as much in that section and other ones like the other Pokémon Gaming forums. But if i've made a long post then I usually don't find myself with much other reason to be there, unless someone replies to me on it.

It makes me sad when people say they don't have friends here, but then I realize that friends are gained from the non post-and-go threads and from outside PC communication (Skype, irc, PS).

I'll admit that I do "post and go" in some threads, especially in DISCUSSION threads that I make. It's probably because I get a little shy on what others will say towards the topic, but eventually I tend to shake it off.

I don't see this habit a bad thing, but as long as it's not done as excessive as possible.
