Question of the Day

Do you prefer to buy expensive, more effective items, or cheaper ineffective items?

I tend to buy more effective items, and then I start upgrading to Full Restores as my primary healing item once I end up in the high money range to the point that I can just win the money back with a trainer rematch.

Do you prefer to buy expensive, more effective items, or cheaper ineffective items?

Depends. I have a healthy collection of Full Restores, but I carry more MooMoo Milks and Hyper Potions than Max Potions. That's because during a playthrough, I would rarely have any Pokemon in excess of 200 HP. Some may end up close to 300, but at that point, I shouldn't ever be in a situation where HP would dip into the red.

MooMoo Milks are enough to do quick heal-ups in most cases and are more cost effective.

I don't carry a lot of Ultra Balls. Usually no more than 20. I tend to end up mostly with Quick Balls, Dusk Balls and Nest Balls. While I do have some Poke Balls and Premiere Balls, those are usually for flavor.

What do you find to be the most useless attack?

inb4 Splash.

But in all seriousness, Bestow is pretty bad.

1. You give up your item and get nothing in return. Sure you can give a Toxic or Flame Orb, but...
2. In the competitive scene, pretty much 99.999% of your opponents' Pokemon will be holding an item. Therefore Bestow will not work. GG.

Honorable mention would probably be Frustration.

You can just compare Frustration and Return. Both are TMs. Basically all Pokemon other than TM-incapable ones are able to learn it.

But your Pokemon is almost always never going to be at zero friendship. You freakin' gain friendship points just by walking. Why would you ever use Frustration? When will you use Frustration over Return? What, wait until you hit level 100 so your Pokemon no longer gets friendlier from leveling and then stuff it with bitter medicines?

No way.

What do you find to be the most useless attack?

For an attack, I'd say Synchronoise. There are very few Pokemon that can learn it, so the chances of you running into a situation where you could actually use it are very slim.

What do you find to be the most useless attack?

Memento. Why?

Memento followed by a trapper via Arena Trap, Shadow Tag (Mega Gengar, anyone?), et al. has its uses. I've seen it in some competitive battles before. Difficult to pull off, but if done properly, it can set the stage for some major sweeping.

Splash of course why is this even a question

I'd have to say Odor Sleuth/Foresight (they're exactly the same, right?). Basically all it does it help you hit Ghost-types with Fighting-type moves, which is only useful to those weak to Fighting-types, a list that only includes Sableye, Spiritomb, Froslass, and the Aegislash line. Not really worth it if you ask me.

I think this sums up things perfectly.

Second one would be Lunar Dance and its variant. Seriously what's the point on killing yourself if you can only heal one Pokemon? PMD has done a great job on executing these healing moves though. :)

EDIT: I think there's this useless move that is called Hold Hands, which is useless AF.

Helping Hand springs to mind first, for some reason. Sure, you have things with no effect like Splash, but that doesn't crop up very often. Helping Hand, however...

Splash is the classic useless move, though in some ways, it feels to obvious. But, yeah, I'm going to have to go with splash, for the negative damage count.

Celebrate seems kind of useless, too, since it's not even the original non-damaging move, but the message that comes with it is cool.

And since I've been thinking about RBY with the re-release news, I have to throw in an honorable mention for the RBY version of Focus Energy, which drops your critical hit rate rather than increasing it.

Guys, you're doing this question wrong, it clearly says "attack" which narrows it down to moves that do damage. Therefore, Splash doesn't count. :v

Seriously though, if we're going by actual attacks I'd say Constrict and its amazing attack power of 10 takes the cake.

What do you find to be the most useless attack?
Well aside from obvious splash, I nominated Poison Sting it have only 20 base power, you just better off with better poisoning move than poison sting.

What do you find to be the most useless attack?

I agree with Laguna, the move Constrict has base power that is a joke. Literally won't get you anywhere as far as a damaging attack goes. I also have to say Leech Life, since it gets outclassed by other draining moves, even Absorb is better than it early on.

Yep, Splash. Easily. No damage, no point. If I had to choose one other than Splash though, I'd say the most useless move is Mud Sport. Almost every Pokemon that learns it is a Ground-type and therefore immune to Electric-type moves anyways, so it's redundant at best. Maybe it's useful in some obtuse double battle situations? Definitely not worth the moveslot though, imo.

I'm greedy, I have a lot of favorites, for real.

However, my focus is on Sinnoh's Route 216. The soundtrack begins with a calmer and gentle, after than it gets crazier and intense, which really matches the scenario perfectly. Therefore it's one of my favorites. :)

Hrmn...it's a toss up between Route 1 and Route 29 - the original versions, of course - as those are the two I find myself humming the most. Although between the two, Route 1 has better remixes on Youtube. I have to admit, I might be a little more biased in its favour, but with stuff like Smooth McGroove's version, Little V's version, and the boss battle remix, it's difficult not to be. xD
