News: Raichu Alola Form, new Pokémon + more

As said just above, I do hope Alolan Persian does get a slight change in appearance because Meowth got what was essentially a recolor for a different type and I found that disappointing.

Lessee, gen 6 Raichu's BST...

HP 60
ATK 90
DEF 50
S.ATK 90
S.DEF 80
SPEED 110

90-100 is a good Speed BST range; lots of top-tier Pokémon are in this range, and with the Soul Surfer Surge Surfer Ability, Raichu won't be too hard-pressed if it's a little below.

This Psychic typing is telling me we've got a pure Special Attacker here. Raichu loves Fake Out, but it doesn't need to hit hard, it just needs to hit. That guaranteed flinch is honestly the reason it's used, so I'm gonna drop that Attack stat down to 50... sliiiiiiiiiide them on over to Sp.Atk... BAM! 130, up there with the Big Boyz.

Alola Raichu is FAT. I love it. I'll move these points from Speed over into Defense.

DEF 70
S.ATK 130
S.DEF 80
SPEED 90

Now we've got a decently fast, bulky Special sweeper, who, when its Ability activates, will likely outspeed everything on the planet. An even more streamlined BST spread could look like this (very ideal):

S.ATK 125
S.DEF 80
SPEED 90

This is going off the assumption that Alola forms move around the BST without adding to it (Mega Evolutions add 100 and then move them around).

I don't really have a set of parameters, I just like certain designs of pokémon and I'm afraid none have captured my interest in the recent announcements. I can't really pinpoint a reason like the complete lack of originality in Gen V, though we could probably do with less fish. It's not that the designs are terrible, I just see many as forgettable and I think we haven't seen a new pokémon worthy of Charizard/Lucario or even Sylveon level hype. I guess I'm just waiting for a few *WOW* designs to be leaked.
 
Am I the only one who noticed that Team Skull r probably people who tried to be island captains and got rejected? Look at the team's boss dialogue in the leaked picture

Liking your Alolan Raichu stat predictions here. I'm also on the bandwagon that says it could lose some Speed but gain some bulk and Sp. Attack. The speed loss will at least be made up thanks to its ability while an Electric Terrain is set up.

That's an interesting thought! There could be a really interesting conflict between Team Skull and the Captains if that was the case.

Please don't let this affect the chances of there being a Dark-Type Captain, please don't let this affect the chances of there being a Dark-Type Captain, please don't let this affect the chances of there being a Dark-Type Captain...

It's strange that we got pictures of the new fish and sea cucumber but not the Sandcastle or the Bewear pre-evo..

Surprised to see the Sea Cucumber as pure water, I really thought fighting type was a safe bet. I guess it might evolve into a fighting type.
 
I've seen many people on 4Chan saying that pre-Bewear and the Sandcastle are Corocoro exclusives, so we'll have to wait a bit before having their English names, just like it did for Rockruff and the Koala

Ah yes I keep forgetting it can get Nasty Plot since Pichu can learn it. Psychic and Electric do have decent coverage so it will be interesting to see this thing be a decent special sweeper, especially when in doubles with an Electric Terrain user.

I agree, because they were in CoroCoro yet the only ones we had leaked were Wishiwashi, Pyukumuku and the two Alola Forms. I was really hoping to find out what their names were, or what abilities the sandcastle has since I'm expecting the Bewear pre-evo to still have Fluffy and Klutz anyway.
 
So we can expect a trailer for Bewear pre evo and Sandcastle at around the end of the month I guess? Even though we already pretty much know the contents, I'm still looking forward to seeing the trailer on Friday. It will be nice to see these new Pokemon animated in battle and hopefully we get a snippet of the Evil Team's soundtrack.

That's what I'm likely guessing then, we may get those Pokemon revealed in another trailer or updated onto the English site later in the month.

Some fun sets could even go for Electro Ball!
 
Raichu's new form stood out for me the most. I admit to being indifferent at first, but then I noticed it looks like it's surfing and yeah I'm sold, lol. I too wonder about the secondary Psychic typing, but I think we'll know soon enough.

Nice to see a bit more of Team Skull. Still not sure what to think of them until we get a bit more info, but they look like they could be fun.

At least Team Flare had some style doing their poses... These are just like, "I don't care". I would love the Female Admin to be the leader instead of the actual leader (to lazy to check the names sry).

And yeah, Raichu looks so CUTE AND HAPPY. It's gaining some love <3.

I think it uses psychic powers to make itself surf on the air using its tail.
